Recent development of related technologies and efficient utilization of the entire country for the purpose of railway construction, and plans are being accelerated. the railway noise has been improved by increasing the high speed railway station, and accelerating the existing trains. Nord2000 which is an overseas noise prediction equation could not be applied directly to the domestic railway vehicles. So the specific vehicles in the Nordic countries which is a similar specification to domestic trains should be selected. Nord2000's accuracy was compared to Schall03, CRN's. Prediction of Ground impedance and Roughness class were carried out at different. In this paper, the result of selected vehicles for Nord2000 was as follows. S-1aX2 was for express trains, N-$^*2c$-3b was for Mugunghwa, S-Pass/wood was for Saemaul, N-4a was for freight trains, N-3a was for subway, the calculation time for Nord2000 took longer than others, in addition, Ground absorption was indispensable to calculate a noise map for Nord2000. As a result, CRN's prediction noise levels at Wonju-si was closest to the measurements. However, the predicted noise levels of Nord2000 was the most accurate.

In this study, we measured and analyzed the interior noise, the rolling noise and the engine noise at Honam line(Seodaejeon- Jangseong) for passenger and power cars. The noise level is below 69㏈A for Seamaeul PMC(Powered Motor Car) coachs, below 65㏈A for Seamaeul and Mukungwha coachs, over 80㏈A for the driver's room of PMC and DEL (Diesel-Electric Locomotive). We also proposed the criteria of interior noise in free field conditions, below 67㏈A for passenger cars, below 86㏈A for power cars.

Recently, many new constructuion and large scale modification of railway are performed for cost down of goods delivery charge and effective transportation in various aspect. Although railway traffic is environmentally frendly in many part but weak in noise and vibration problem. For the reduction and efficient management of railway noise, first of all prediction of railway noise is necessarily requisted. In domestic and abroad many studies for prediction of railway nearby noise are done. In this study simple modelling technique is investigated for railway noise prediction when railway passes above elevated concrete bridge as well as ground. Predicted results are compared with measured results and it is known that suggested modelling technique can be used for more precise prediction of railway nearby noise.

In this paper, I summarize the case for the noise emission of domestic power plants and foreign power plants occurred recently. It is described to main content that is analyzing of the noise source and looking at the noise generated, if necessary to derive the solution. In addition, a case study is shown based on that noise levels can be changed by the differently surrounding environmental conditions during the measurement noise.

With rapid industrial development, railway has become a main traffic means. But, the railway noise has caused much annoyance for the residents living nearby railway track. Therefore, it is necessary to establish the environmental quality standards for railway noise like the environmental quality standards for traffic noise. In this study, the domestic and foreign standards for railway noise were investigated with analysis of existing data and field survey of noise condition at near a railway.

Noise pollution, especially road traffic noise-in terms of population exposure-has become a major problem in Seoul. However, although noise can be sensed directly, it is considered somewhat less important compared to other environmental pollutions. In this study, we chose nine districts in Seoul and distributed a questionnaire containing 23 questions in related to the awareness of noise pollution for 950 people living in Seoul. The results were analyzed according to the citizens' awareness on the whole, age, occupation, and were compared to the actual noise level measured by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. The analysis of the questionnarie show that road traffic noise is considered to be the main source of noise pollution in Seoul. People think that the individual and the Seoul Metropolitan Government are most responsible for the noise reduction in Seoul, but replies only little effort is put into when asked whether one has made any personal effort to reduce noise. We have concluded that noise pollution is not considered a hazardous problem to most Seoul citizens, and that most of them seem to be used to it. Yet, specific noise reduction policies, especially road traffic noise, are expected to take effect as quality of life is pursued due to economic enhancement.

The purpose of this study is the improvement of the prediction model of highway noise. It includes the measurement and analysis of predicted noise levels by various programs in types of road and environments. The results of the measurement are compared with the noise levels predicted by improved highway noise prediction model and domestic prediction models, (Improved highway noise prediction model was considered ASJ-2003, ISO-9613 part2 and noise power of road surface types at Korean highway road.)
