This paper presents seismic analysis of concrete gravity dams considering soil-structure-fluid interaction. Displacement based plane strain finite element formulation is considered for the dam and foundation domain whereas pressure based finite element formulation is considered for the reservoir domain. A direct coupling method has been adopted to obtain the interaction effects among the dam, foundation and reservoir domain to obtain the dynamic responses of the dam. An efficient absorbing boundary condition has been implemented at the truncation surfaces of the foundation and reservoir domains. A parametric study has been carried out considering each domain separately and collectively based on natural frequencies, crest displacement and stress at the neck level of the dam body. The combined frequency of the entire coupled system is very less than that of the each individual sub-system. The crest displacement and neck level stresses of the dam shows prominent enhancement when coupling effect is taken into consideration. These outcomes suggest that a complete coupled analysis is necessary to obtain the actual responses of the concrete gravity dam. The developed methodology can easily be implemented in finite element code for analyzing the coupled problem to obtain the desired responses of the individual subdomains.

In this paper, a square simply supported panel flutter have been considered at high supersonic flow by using coupled fluid-structure (FSI) analysis that based on time domain method. The Reynolds-Average Navier Stokes (RANS) equation with Spalart-Allmaras turbulent model were applied for unsteady flow problems of panel flutter. A fully implicit time marching schemed based on the Newmark direct integration method is used for calculating the coupled aeroelastic governing equations of it. In addition, the SOL 145 solver of MSC.NASTRAN was used to investigate flutter velocity based on PK-method of Piston theory. Our numerical results indicated that there is a good agreement result between Piston Theory in MSC.NASTRAN and coupled fluid-structure analysis.
A method for the analysis of wave scattering in 3-D elastic full space is developed by means of the coupled boundary-volume integral equation, which takes into account the effects of both the boundary of inclusions and the uctuation of the wave field. The wavenumber domain formulation is used to construct the Krylov subspace by means of FFT. In order to achieve the wavenumber domain formulation, the boundary-volume integral equation is transformed into the volume integral equation. The formulation is also focused on this transform and its numerical implementation. Several numerical results clarify the accuracy and effectiveness of the present method for scattering analysis.

In this paper, coupled-mode theory (CMT) is used to obtain a transient solution analytically for a wireless power transfer system (WPTS) when unit energy is applied to one of two resonators. The solutions are compared with those obtained using equivalent circuit-based analysis. The time-domain CMT is accurate only when resonant coils are weakly coupled and have large quality factors, and the reason for this inaccuracy is outlined. Even though the time-domain CMT solution does not describe the WPTS behavior precisely, it is accurate enough to allow for an understanding of the mechanism of energy exchange between two resonators qualitatively. Based on the time-domain CMT solution, the critical coupling coefficient is derived and a criterion is suggested for distinguishing inductive coupling and magnetic resonance coupling of the WPTS.
In this study, a complete analysis of soil-structure interaction problems is presented which includes a modelling of the near surrounding of the building (near-field) and a special description of the wave propagation process in larger distances (far-field). In order to reduce the computational effort which can be very high for time domain analysis of wave propagation problems, a special approach based on similarity transformation of the infinite domain on the near-field/far-field interface is applied for the wave radiation of the far-field. The near-field is discretised with standard Finite Elements, which also allows to introduce non-linear material behaviour. In this paper, a new approach to calculate the involved convolution integrals is presented. This approximation in time leads to a dramatically reduced computational effort for long simulation times, while the accuracy of the method is not affected. Finally, some benchmark examples are presented, which are compared to a coupled Finite Element/Boundary Element approach. The results are in excellent agreement with those of the coupled Finite Element/Boundary Element procedure, while the accuracy is not reduced. Furthermore, the presented approach is easy to incorporate in any Finite Element code, so the practical relevance is high.

An analysis of the microstripline is started as an assumption of the axial & transveral current distribution. Applying the boundary conditions to the scalar wave equations of a electric & magnetic potential, the two simultaneous coupled integral equations are produced. The electronmagnetic fields in microstrip line can be obtained by solving these two coupled integral equaltion. In general, either a numerical analysis method or a Galerkin method was used to solve them. In this paper, a residue theorem is proposed to solve them. The electromagnetic fields are expressed as integral equations for LSE and LSM mode in the spectral domain. Applying a residue theorem to the Fourier transformed equation and Fourier inverse transformed equation which is necessary for interchanging the space domain and the spectral domain, the electromagnetic fields are expressed as algebraic equations whichare relatively easier to handle. the distributions of the electromagnetic field are shown at the range of -5w/2.leq.x.leq.5w/2, 0.lep.y.leq.4h for z=0. It agrees well with the results of the Quasi-TEM mode analysis.

We have investigated the wavelength tuning characteristics due to the vernier effect of coupled-ring reflector laser diode including active region within resonators using time-domain modeling. It is shown that the wavelength can be widely tuned with side mode suppression ratio more than 30dB by adjusting the refractive index difference between mismatched rings.

In this study, the effect of planform curvature on the stability of coupled flow/structure vibration is examined in transonic and supersonic flow regions. The aeroelastic analysis for the frequency and time domain is performed to obtain the flutter solution. The doublet lattice method(DLM) in subsonic flow is used to calculate unsteady aerodynamics in the frequency domain. For all speed range, the time domain nonlinear unsteady transonic small disturbance code has been incorporated into the coupled-time integration aeroelastic analysis (CTIA). Two curved wings with experimental data have been considered in this paper MSC/NASTRAN is used for natural free vibration analyses of wing models. Predicted flutter dynamic pressures and frequencies are compared with experimental data in subsonic and transonic flow regions.
In this study, a six degree-of-freedom motion analysis of a wind-wave hybrid platform equipped with numerous wave energy converters (WECs) was carried out. To examine the effect of the WECs on the platform, an analysis of one-way coupling was carried out, which only considered the power take-off (PTO) damping of the static WECs on the platform. The equation of motion of a floating platform with mooring lines in the time domain was established, and the responses of the one-way coupled platform were then compared with the case of a platform without any coupling effects from the WECs. The hydrodynamic coefficients and wave exciting forces were obtained from the 3D diffraction/radiation pre-processor code WAMIT based on the boundary element method. Then, an analysis of the dynamic responses of the floating platform with or without the WEC effect in the time domain was carried out. All of the dynamics of a floating platform with multiple wind turbines were obtained by coupling FAST and CHARM3D in the time domain, which was further extended to include additional coupled dynamics for multiple turbines. The analysis showed that the PTO damping effect on platform motions was negligible, but coupled effects between multiple WECs and the platform may differentiate the heave, roll, and pitch platform motions from the one without any effects induced by WECs.

In this study a numerical method for soil-pile interaction analysis buried in multi-layered half planes is presented in frequency domain using FE-BE coupling. The total soil-pile interaction system is divided into two parts so called far field and near field beam elements are used for modeling a pile and coupled with plain strain elements for soil modeling. Boundary element formulation using the multi-layered dynamic fundamental solution is adopted to the far field and coupled with near field modeled by finite elements. In order to verify the proposed soil-pile interaction analysis method the dynamic responses of a pile on multi-layered dynamic fundamental solution is adopted to the far field and coupled with near field modeled by finite elements. In order to verify the proposed soil-pile interaction analysis method the dynamic responses of a pile on multi-layered half-planes are performed and compared with experiment results. Through this developed method the dynamic response analysis of a pile buried in multi-layered half planes can be calculated effectively in frequency domain.
