  • An improved disturbance rejection control scheme is presented for minimizing the position error due to the repeatable runout disturbances in high density disk drive systems The proposed control algorithm is capable of attenuating repeatable disturbances which is one of the major detractors to hard disk drive quality and performance. This is achieved by a sys-tematic combination of an optimal feedback component and a feedforward preview component. The feedback component is designed where the emphasis is placed on robustness. The feedforward component is on the basis of a preview control comprised of a measured disturbance signals which leads to better disturbance rejection capabilites. The designed con-troller is applied as a plug-in module to a high density hard disk drive with a pre-existing conventional servo controller. Simulations have been carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of this control scheme in the reduction of the periodic disturbances.

  • This paper concerns on application of active magnetic bearing(AMB) system to levitate the elevation axis of an electro-optical sight mounted on moving vehicles. In such a system. it is desirable to retain the elevation axis within the predetermined air-gap while the vehicle is moving. A disturbance compensation control is proposed to reduce the base motion response. In the consideration of the uncertainty of the system model, a filtered-x least-mean-square(FXLMS) algorithm is used to estimate adaptively the frequency response function of the feedforward control which cancels disturbance responses. The frequency response function is fitted to an optimal feedforward control. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed control reduces the air-gap deviation to 27.7% that by feedback control alone.

  • This paper designed a robust control of an induction motor using a disturbance cancellation observer of a feedforward control. The speed response of conventional PI controller characteristic is affected by variations of load torque disturbance. In the proposed system, the speed control characteristic using a feedforward control isn't affected by a load torque disturbance. High speed calculation and processing for vector control is carried out by ADMC300 digital signal processor. Validity of the proposed control method is verified through simulation and experimental result.

  • 본 논문에서는 계통연계형 인버터(Grid-connected inverter, GCI) 시스템을 위한 전류 제어 방법들의 성능 비교 연구를 제시한다. GCI 시스템을 위해 다양한 전류 제어 방법이 개발되었으며 각 제어기마다 장점과 한계를 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 GCI 전류 제어기들의 정상 상태 및 과도 상태에서의 동적 성능을 비교 분석한다. 제안한 전향보상기법(Command feedforward control, CFFC) 및 외란제거제어(Disturbance rejection control, DRC)가 모든 GCI 전류 제어기에 적용 전과 후의 성능을 비교 분석하였다. 제안된 CFFC와 DRC 제어 알고리즘을 주파수 영역에서 분석하고 성능 검증을 위해 각 GCI 전류 제어 방법들의 시뮬레이션 및 실험 모델을 개발하였다.

  • AFC (Adaptive Feedforward Control) is significantly employed for improving control performance of dynamic systems particularly involving periodic disturbance signals in engineering fields. This paper presents a novel hybrid AFC approach for discrete-time systems with multiple disturbances in terms of control input and state variables. The proposed AFC mechanism is hierarchically composed of a conventional feedforward control framework and PID auxiliary control configuration in parallel. The former is generic to decrease periodic disturbance excited to control actuators and the latter is additionally constructed to overcome control deterioration due to time-varying uncertainty under given systems. We carry out numerical simulation to test reliability of our proposed hybrid AFC system and compare its control performance to a well-known conventional AFC method with respect to time and frequency domains for proving of its superiority.

  • In this study, a controller which has a feedforward controller and two additional PI integrators was designed. But if a controller is used by only the integration of a feedforward controller and two additional PI integrators, the capability of a controller will decrease because the decoupling terms of current is feedback as the disturbance. Therefore the feedforward method with the decoupling compensation was proposed. The two additional PI integrators were replaced by two decoupling terms to simplify the calculation. The simulation and experimental using SynRM driving system were performed to verify the design of a improved decoupling feedforward controller.

  • In this paper, a novel speed control strategy using an acceleration feedforward compensation by the estimation of the system inertia is proposed. With the proposed method, the enhanced speed control performance can be achieved and the speed response against the disturbance torque can be improved for the vector-controller induction motor drive systems in which the bandwidth of the speed controller cannot be made large enough. The experimental results confirm the validity of the proposed strategy.

  • This paper proposes PID and RIC (Robust Internal-loop Compensator) based motion controller using dual learning algorithm for position control of linear synchronous motor respectively. Its gains are auto-tuned by using two learning algorithms, reinforcement learning and neural network. The feedback controller gains are tuned by reinforcement learning, and then the feedforward controller gains are tuned by neural network. Experiments prove the validity of dual learning algorithm. The RIC controller has better performance than does the PID-feedforward controller in reducing tracking error and disturbance rejection. Neural network shows its ability to decrease tracking error and to reject disturbance in the stop range of the target position and home.

  • This paper presents a position control strategy for a pump-controlled electro-hydrostatic actuator (EHA) using feedforward control with disturbance compensation. As the disturbance observer is used to estimate nonlinear dynamics of EHA, which has valve-opening conditionals, as well as external disturbances, an additional feedforward control is adopted to achieve rapid response. The effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is verified through experiment using an EHA test bench. The proposed controller shows better tracking performance compared with a conventional PID controller.

Disturbance Observer and Error Model-based Control of Ball Screw Drives

  • Ball screw drives are widely used in industry, and many studies have been devoted on precise, fast and robust control of ball screw drives. In this study, a novel position control algorithm for ball screw drives is proposed, which consist of a PD controller, a friction feedforward and a disturbance observer. The dynamics and the position error of such controller are analyzed to establish an error model, which can be used to predict the resulting position error of the given desired trajectory. Using the proposed error model, the desired trajectory can be modified so that the predicted position error can be compensated in a feedforward manner. The proposed algorithm does not require the model of the system for the error prediction, and thus can be easily applied to conventional control systems. The performance of the system is verified through simulations and experiments.
