A Investigation on the Actual Condition of PV Maintenance on Residental Buildings

  • Residental photovoltaic power system achieved remarkable results in distribution and activation through 'One Million Green Homes Program' led by the government. However, system maintenance and management after installation are relative unsatisfactory. Thus, problems, such as malfunctioning, decrease in efficiency, breakage, etc, are occurring in succession which means that expensive facilities are not used effectively. This study attempted to propose a more preferred alternative to the photovoltaic power system currently applied and installed to the housing by investigating and analyzing the said system, identifying management practices, and deriving problems. For this study, 48 houses equipped with photovoltaic systems in J City were chosen and they were analyzed after preliminary research and field investigation. The results revealed that most of the surveyed systems in J City are still in fairly good conditions. But the instruction and information regarding the appropriate operational management of those surveyed systems have not been delivered to the owner. Therefore, promotion education and related manual deployment should be done by the contractor. In terms of installation, inadequate system location and some warranty services are required to be improved, which are usually caused by a lack of careful planning and construction. In addition, the follow-up management needs to be provided about five years later after installation considering system deterioration.

  • Photovoltaic power generation is currently being recognized as one of the most popular sources for renewable resources over the country. Although it is also being adapted to rural area for may reasons, it is important to estimate the magnitudes of power outputs with reliable statistical methodologies, while applying historical daily solar energy data, for correct feasibility analysis. In this study, one of the well-known statistical methodologies is employed to define the appropriate probability distributions for monthly power outputs for the selected rural area, county of Seo-san, province of Chungnam. The results imply that the assumption of normal distributions for several months may lead to incorrect decision-making and therefore lead to the unreliable feasibility analysis. Generalized beta and triangular distributions were found to be superior to normal distribution, when describing monthly probability distributions for daily photovoltaic power. Based on the appropriate distributions resulted from this study, Monte Carlo simulation technique was also applied to provide additional flexible information for the relevant decision makers. This study found out new finding that the probability distributions should be considered to make planning of the photovoltaic power system in rural village unit, in order to give reasonable economic analysis to the decision makers.

  • Traditional maintenance planning is based on a constant maintenance interval for equipment life. In order to consider economic aspect for time based preventive maintenance, preventive maintenance is desirable to be scheduled by RCM(Reliability-Centered Maintenance) evaluation. The main objective of RCM is to reduce the maintenance cost, by focusing on the most important functions of the system and avoiding or removing maintenance actions that are not strictly necessary. So, Markov state model is utilized considering stochastic state in RCM. In this paper, a Markov state model which can be used for scheduling and optimization of maintenance is presented. The deterioration process of system condition is modeled by the stepwise Markov model in detail. Also, because the system is not continuously monitored, the inspection is considered. In case study, simulation results about RCM will be shown using the real historical data of combustion turbine generating unit in Korean power systems.

  • This paper describes a new method of calculating expected energy generation and loss of load probability (L.O.L.P) for electric power system operation and expansion planning. The method represents an equivalent load duration curve (E.L.D.C) as a mixture of cumulants approximation (M.O.C.A), which is the general case of mixture of normals approximation (M.O.N.A). By regarding a load distribution as many normal distributions-rather than one normal distribution-and representing each of them in terms of Gram-Charller expansion, we could improve the accuracy of results. We developed an algorithm which automatically determines the number of distribution and demarcation points. In modelling of a supply system, we made subsets of generators according to the number of generator outage: since the calculation of each subset's moment needs to be processed rapidly, we futher developed specific recursive formulae. The method is applied to the test systems and the results are compared with those of cumulant, M.O.N.A and Booth-Baleriaux method. It is verified that the M.O.C.A method is faster and more accurate than any other methods.

  • This paper deals with a method for determining an optimal operation strategy of dispersed generating sources. For effective utilization of dispersed generating sources, it is indispensable to consider their thermal merits in addition to electric power. And then the optimal operation of these sources can be determined easily by the principle of equal incremental fuel cost. This paper presents an priority method to decide the optimal location of those sources in power systems about the whole year. The validity of the proposed algorithms are demonstrated using a model system.

  • This paper proposes determining a optimal number, size and allocation of DGs(Distributed Generations) needed to minimize operation cost of distribution system, obtains economic benefit in operation planning of DG and improves system reliability. System reliability is assessed whether DG install and reliability cost consider. DG optimal allocations are determined to minimize total cost with power buying cost, operation cost of DG, loss cost and outage cost using GA(Genetic Algorithm). And it was determined installed load-point and order.

  • This paper deals with a method for determining an optimal operation strategy of dispersed generating sources considering thermal merits. The optimal operation of these sources can be determined by the principle of equal incremental fuel cost. This paper presents an optimal operation strategy using the Kuhn-Tucker's optimal conditions and also an priority method to decide the optimal location of those sources in power systems. The validity of the proposed algorithms are demonstrated using a model system.

An Analysis of the Status of Local Currency (Daedeok e-Loom) for the Vitality of Local Commercial Areas and an Empirical Study on the Direction of Development

  • Purpose: In a situation where the local economy and alley economy are stagnant, efforts to revitalize the role of small business owners need a virtuous cycle system through consumers' consumption power, not just cash support. Research design, data, and methodology: The study site focuses on Daedeok-gu, the first to introduce local currency as a policy. In the case of the store survey, 254 stores out of 300 stores registered with local currency were analyzed, and the consumer survey was conducted on 1,394 out of 1,500 local people using local currency. Statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS. Result: As a result of time-series checking whether local economic activities are carried out smoothly due to the nature of the local currency, the average daily sales of Daedeok-gu increased by 388,980won compared to 2019. This proved through empirical research in the region that local currency played a priming role in bringing opportunities and rehabilitation to the local commercial districts and small business owners. Conclusions: In the monetary function of simply buying and selling value through payment, points supported as incentives can be used as local currency while inducing direct participation in solving social problems, and the concurrent effect of causing problem-solving and regional economic vitality began to sprout.

매설지선 방식을 적용한 에너지 자립마을용 수상 태양광 발전 시스템의 접지저항 분석 (Analysis of Grounding Resistance for Zero Energy Town Floating PV System Using Underground Wiring)

  • Floating PV system is installed on the water such as artificial lake, reservoir, river for the purposes of zero energy town and/or large scale of PV station. There are electrical gains from cooling effect by water and reflection of water surface. Particularly, floating PV power station with high efficiency solar cell modules receives a lot of attention recently. Floating PV system is installed on the water, which means grounding method to the frame of solar cell and electrical box such as connector band and distribution panelboard should be applied in different way from grounding method of PV system on land. The grounding resistance should be 10[${\Omega}$] in case the voltage is over 400[V] in accordance with Korean Standard. The applicable parameters are the resistivity of water in various circumstances, depth of water, and length of electrode in order to meet 10[${\Omega}$] of grounding resistance. We calculated appropriate length of the electrode on the basis of theoretical equation of grounding resistance and analyzed the relation between each parameters through MATLAB simulation. This paper explains grounding system of floating PV power station and presents considerations on grounding design according to the resistivity of water.

지리정보시스템과 원격탐사자료를 이용한 도시공간구조의 파악 -대구광역권 사례연구- (Identifying Urban Spatial Structure through GIS and Remote Sensing Data -The Case of Daegu Metropolitan Area-)

  • 본 연구는 지리정보시스템과 원격탐사자료를 이용하여 도시공간구조를 파악하는데 목적이 있다. 특히 본 연구는 거대도시와 중소도시의 중간규모인 대도시의 공간구조를 대구광역시와 그 주변지역을 단위로 하는 대구광역권을 사례지역으로 선정하였다. 도시구조는 인구 및 직업밀도를 기준으로 분석하였다. 이 분석을 위하여 1995, 2000, 2005년도의 Landsat TM 5 위성영상자료를 지리정보시스템과 연계하여 피복분석을 통하여 활용되었다. 공간구조는 인구밀도와 직업밀도의 거리조락함수를 추정함으로써 파악되었다. 분석결과 대구광역권의 차원에서는 단핵도시구조를 보이고 있다. 그러나 단핵도시모형의 설명력이 점차 감소하는 점, 부도심의 형성 및 성장 등의 추세를 감안하면 분석범위를 대구광역시에 한정할 경우 다핵심도시구조로 이행하고 있다.
