  • In this paper, we present a multi-code parallel combinatory CDMA system using bi-orthogonal modulation to reduce envelope variation and improve bit error. .rate (BER) performance. In general, the dynamic range of the amplitude of the transmit signal is very large in the case of conventional multi-code CDMA systems, resulting in severe nonlinear distortion due to high power amplifier and thus significant BER performance degradation. The proposed system exhibits reduction of peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of the transmit signal amplitudes and significant performance improvement. We verify the performance of the proposed system by computer simulations under AWGN channel and flat fading channel.

  • The High Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) could be a severe Problem in OFDM performance since it causes the significant distortion to the transmitting signal through a nonlinear device such as High Power Amplifier (HPA). In this paper, the performance of Peak cancellation method according to the HPA characteristic is comparatively analyzed with the clipping and windowing methods. The BER performances and the out-band power spectrums are demonstrated in detail.

  • In this letter, we propose an unsupervised framework for speech noise reduction based on the recent development of low-rank and sparse matrix decomposition. The proposed framework directly separates the speech signal from noisy speech by decomposing the noisy speech spectrogram into three submatrices: the noise structure matrix, the clean speech structure matrix, and the residual noise matrix. Evaluations on the Noisex-92 dataset show that the proposed method achieves a signal-to-distortion ratio approximately 2.48 dB and 3.23 dB higher than that of the robust principal component analysis method and the non-negative matrix factorization method, respectively, when the input SNR is -5 dB.

  • A 2.5 V feed-forward second-order deltasigma modulator for audio application is presented. A 9-level quantizer with a tree-structured dynamic element matching (DEM) was employed to improve the linearity by shaping the distortion resulted from the capacitor mismatch of the feedback digital-toanalog converter (DAC). A chopper stabilization technique (CHS) is used to reduce the flicker noise in the first integrator. The prototype delta-sigma analogto-digital converter (ADC) implemented in a 65 nm 1P8M CMOS process occupies 0.747 $mm^2$ and achieves 109.1 dB dynamic range (DR), 85.4 dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in a 24 kHz audio signal bandwidth, while consuming 14.75 mW from a 2.5 V supply.

  • Flush inlet, which has been chosen for modem air vehicles to take advantage of structure compactness and small RCS, gives rise to some aerodynamic problems such as flow separation and distortion due to vortices which deteriorate the performance of both inlet and engine. In this study, pressure recoveries at inlet exit plane were evaluated through numerical analyses of 3D turbulent flow for various inlet shapes and flight conditions. Inlet shape was controlled by changing ramp angle and width of throat, and effects of mass flow rate and angle of attack were investigated.

  • Crosstalk is the primary cause of image distortion in active matrix liquid crystal displays (AMLCD). Crosstalk produces voltage errors that limit gray scale fidelity and consequently, degrades display resolution, contrast ratio, color fidelity, and image quality. In this study, crosstalk phenomena of some methods to compensate level shift voltages has been simulated. This will be contributed to find the way to design the excellent image quality of the TFT-LCDs.

  • When medium and large induction motors are driven by 2-level inverters with low switching frequency, induction motors provoke deteriorated performances resulted from large torque ripples, flux ripples, and large current distortion. Model predictive torque control(MPTC) for a fast torque control of induction motors is also suffered from large torque ripples when the induction motors are fed by 2-level inverters that are based on 6 active voltage vectors with low switching frequency restricted. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a new MPTC method based on both a 12 active voltage vector and an optimized duty ratio calculation. The proposed control strategy illustrates its effectiveness under the various operating conditions through simulation works.

  • The purpose of the study is to investigate the effect of H$_2$ pressure on partial discharge (PD) activity and aging rate in turbine generator winding insulations. A series of field tests and laboratory tests were peformed to investigate the effect of $H_2$ pressure on PD activity. Field tests were conducted at two unit turbine generators in two conditions, in $H_2$ pressure and in air atmosphere. Obtained results are as follows ; 1) ${\Delta}tan{\delta}$ and maximum partial discharge are reduced with increase of $H_2$ pressure and partial discharge inception voltage. 2) The reduction ratio of ${\Delta}tan{\delta}$ due to $H_2$ pressure is higher than one of PD magnitude. 3) Partial discharge pulses suffer from attenuation and distortion when transmitted along windings, because of the complex L-C network between windings. From the result, partial discharge pulses are subjected to resonance phenomena in a generator winding.

  • Beamforming is one of the spatial filtering techniques which extract only desired signals from noisy environments using microphone arrays. Fixed beamforming is a simple concept and easy to implement. However, it does not show good performance in real noisy conditions. As an adaptive beamforming, Frost algorithm can be a good candidate. It uses the concept of the linearly constrained minimum variance (LCMV) algorithm. The difference between the Frost and the LCMV algorithm is the error correction scheme which is very effective feature in the aspect of performance. In this paper, as quadrature mirror filtering (QMF)-based filterbank is utilized as the pre-processing of the Frost beamformning, the filter length and the learning rate of each band is optimized to improve the performance. The performance is measured by the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and the Bark's scale spectral distortion (BSD).
