급성통증 유발 흰쥐에 대한 위령선약침(威靈仙藥鍼)의 통증 억제효과 (Analgesic Effect of Clematidis Radix (CR) Herbal-acupuncture on the Test Rats with Induced Acute Pain)

  • Objectives : The objective of this study is to investigate Anti-nociceptive and anti-inflammatory effects of Clematidis Radix (CR) herbal-acupuncture on the test rats with induced acute pain. Methods : The effects of Clematidis Radix (CR)-distillates were investigated in three types of models with three different pain. Highly purified distillate of CR called CR herbal-acupuncture was injected to Zusanli ($ST_{36}$) acupoint. In the tail flick test, the CR herbal-acupuncture treatment did not show a significant effect of relieving acute pain. To investigate the anti-inflammatory effect of CR herbal-acupuncture, the second testing model'pain was induced by injecting formalin to its planter. For the last model, carrageenan was injected into tarsal joint. the medicinal effect of CR herbal-acupuncture was evaluated through the behavioral analyses such as licking time, weight distribution ratio and ankle circumference. Results : In the formalin test, the analgesic effect of CR herbal-acupuncture was more pronounced in the late phase (for 20 min after the early phase) than in the early phase (for the first 10 min post formalin injection). It was proven by weight distribution ratio testing and ankle edema testing that herbal-acupuncture of CR inhibited arthritis caused by the carrageenan. Conclusions : These results revealed that CR herbal-acupuncture was effective to alleviate the inflammatory pain and could be used as an analgesic treatment with an anti-inflammatory effect.

증류식 소주 증류중 유기산에 의한 에스테르화 (Esterification of Alcohols with Organic Acids during Distilled Spirit Distillation)

  • 증류주에서 중요한 향미 물질인 에스테르 생성과정을 알아보기 위하여 발효완료 술덧에 알코올과 함께 존재하는 초산, 젖산, 구연산 같은 유기산의 종류별, pH별, 증규 온도별로 에스테르 생성 과정을 실험하였다. 유기산의 종류별 실험에서 생성 에스테르량은 ethyl acetate가 기주에 비해 최고 2.890%, ethyl lactate가 최고 6,410% 린 iso-amyl acetate가 최고 52% 증가하였다. 에스테르차시 pH는 중요한 요인이며, 초산첨가 에스테르화 증류액의 ethyl acetate의 경우 pH 3.0이 pH 4.5보다 2,804% 증가하였고. 젖산 첨가 에스테르화 증류액의 ethyl lactate의 경우 pH 3.0이 pH 4.5보다 1,092% 증가하였다. 에스테르화 증류온도는 초산첨가 에스테르화 가압(약 1.9 기압) 증류액은 상압(1기압) 증류액보다 ethyl acetate 생성은 18% 증가하였고, iso-amyi acetate 생성은 24% 감소하였고, 젖산첨가 데스테르화 가압 증류액은 상압 증류액보다 ethyl-lactate 생성이 33% 증가하였다. 에스테르화 증류시간은 pH 3.0에서는 ethyl acetate 생성은 반응시간 240분으로 충분하고, ethyl lactate 생성은 30된 이상 긴 반응 시간이 필요하였다. 결론적으로 증류주 제조에 있어서 2차 증류시 1차 증류액에 유기산을 첨가하여 증류하면 에스테르량이 증가한 2차 증류액을 얻을 수 있었다.

일일 50 kg DME 생산을 위한 파일럿 플랜트 분리 정제공정 모사 (Simulation of Separation and Purification Process of 50 kg/day Pilot Plant for DME Production)

  • 본 연구에서는 하루 50 kg의 DME를 생산하기 위한 파일럿 플랜트를 Aspen Plus를 사용하여 전산모사 하였다. 전체 DME 분리공정의 모델링을 위하여 NRTL 액체 활동도계수 모델식을 사용하였으며 light 가스 성분의 용매의 용해도 추산을 위해서 Henry의 법칙을 사용하였으며 기상의 비이상성을 계산하기 위해서 SRK 상태방정식 모델식을 사용하였다. 전산모사 결과로 DME 분리탑의 중간 제품으로써 98 wt% 이상의 순도를 갖는 DME를 얻을 수 있었다.

  • 본실험은 상족기에 집중적으로 소요되는 노동력을 절감하기 위하여 숙잠의 자연등족을 촉진시키는 보조수단의 1종인 기피제에 대해서 연구하였는바 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 기피효과가 가장 현저한 것은 참나무계통이며 약쑥 개여뀌의 순으로 나타났다. 그 이외의 처리구도 기성등족제 シ ル ク ア ツ プ 처리구보다 등광률이 높은 것으로 미루어 보아 실용화가 기대된다. 2. 기선제의 조제방법은 증류액, 탕액 및 즙액의 형태로 조제하여 조강에 흡수시켜 시용하는 것이 등족효과가 우수하였다. 이 중에서도 가장 손쉬운 방법은 탕액이 라고 생각된다. 3. 기피제처리가 누에 생리에는 거의 영향이 없는듯하며 견질과 사질에도 별로 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 보인다. 4. 본기피제를 잠좌에 처리했을 때 미숙잠도 등족하는 경향이 있으므로 기피제를 이용할 때는 숙화정도를 재일하게 해야만 더욱 효과적일 것으로 살펴진다.

  • Chemical pneumonitis induced by hydrocarbon aspiration is rare in Korea. Kerosene is a petroleum distillate with low viscosity and high volatility. We report two adult cases of chemical pneumonitis caused by the accidental aspiration of kerosene. They were treated successfully with antibiotics and systemic corticosteroids, and recovered without complications.

Simulating reactive distillation of HIx (HI-H2O-I2) system in Sulphur-Iodine cycle for hydrogen production

  • In this article, we develop a reactive distillation (RD) column configuration for the production of hydrogen. This RD column is in the HI decomposition section of the sulphur - iodine (SI) thermochemical cycle, in which HI decomposition and H2 separation take place simultaneously. The section plays a major role in high hydrogen production efficiency (that depends on reaction conversion and separation efficiency) of the SI cycle. In the column simulation, the rigorous thermodynamic phase equilibrium and reaction kinetic model are used. The tuning parameters involved in phase equilibrium model are dependent on interactive components and system temperature. For kinetic model, parameter values are adopted from the Aspen flowsheet simulator. Interestingly, there is no side reaction (e.g., solvation reaction, electrolyte decomposition and polyiodide formation) considered aiming to make the proposed model simple that leads to a challenging prediction. The process parameters are determined on the basis of optimal hydrogen production as reflux ratio = 0.87, total number of stages = 19 and feeding point at 8th stage. With this, the column operates at a reasonably low pressure (i.e., 8 bar) and produces hydrogen in the distillate with a desired composition (H2 = 9.18 mol%, H2O = 88.27 mol% and HI = 2.54 mol%). Finally, the results are compared with other model simulations. It is observed that the proposed scheme leads to consume a reasonably low energy requirement of 327 MJ/kmol of H2.

아민 함침 입자상 활성탄의 특성 분석 및 이산화탄소 흡착능 평가연구 (Adsorption of Carbon Dioxide using Pelletized AC with Amine impregnation)

  • 본 연구는 1차 아민(MEA, monoethanolamine)으로 개질한 입자상 활성탄(WSC-470)을 이용하여 실내 저농도 이산화탄소를 제거하고자 하였다. MEA 함침농도(6.1~42.7 wt.%)와 용매제(distillate water, ethanol, methanol) 종류에 따라 제조된 흡착제의 특성분석(BET, pore property, XPS)과 각 흡착제의 $CO_2$가스에 대한 최대 흡착능, 3000 ppm의 저농도 $CO_2$분위기에서의 흡착량을 측정하였다. MEA 농도가 증가할수록 물리적 특성인 비표면적, 공극률, 미세기공률 등은 감소한 반면, 표면 염기도 향상에 기여하는 질소 함량은 증가하였다. 이러한 물성변화로 인해 최대 흡착능은 초기 활성탄(RAC: 3.27 mmol/g) 대비 최대 71%(AC-MM(42.7, 40): 0.937 mmol/g)가 감소한 반면, 저농도 이산화탄소에 대한 선택적 흡착량은 45%(AC-MM(15.3, 40): 0.73 mmol/g)의 향상을 보였다.

  • Anti-nociceptive and anti-inflammatory effects of Clematidis Radix (CR)-distillates were investigated in three different pain animal models. Highly purified distillate of CR was injected to Zusanli (ST36) acupoint, called CR herb-acupuncture in the Korean traditional medicine. In tail flick latency test, the CR herb-acupuncture treatment did not show a significant effect of relieving acute phasic pain. To investigate the anti-inflammatory effect of CR herb-acupuncture, inflammatory pain was induced by subcutaneous injection of formalin to the plantar tissue or intra-articular injection of carrageenan to the tibio-tarsal joint in the rats. And the medicinal effect of CR herb-acupuncture was evaluated by analyzing pain behavior such as licking or biting behavior, or by measuring weight distribution ratio between two foot and ankle circumference. In the rat formalin test, the analgesic effect of CR herb-acupuncture was more pronounced in the late phase (for 20 min after the early phase) than in the early phase (for the first 10 min post formalin injection). It also significantly alleviated the carrageenan-induced monoarthritis, in terms of weight distribution ratio and ankle edema. These results revealed that CR herb-acupuncture was effective to treat the inflammatory pain and could be used as an analgesic treatment with an antiinflammatory effect.

물/유기용매 분리를 위한 증류-투과증발막 혼성공정의 최적화 (Optimization of Distillation-Pervaporation Membrane Hybrid Process for Separation of Water/Organic Solvent Mixtures)

  • 공비점이 존재하거나 상대휘발도 차이가 적은 2성분 혼합물은 단일 증류탑으로 분리하기 어렵다. 이때 혼합물에서 분리가 어려운 영역을 투과증발막을 사용하여 분리하면 효율적인 공정을 설계할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 물-유기용매 혼합물을 분리하기 위한 증류-투과증발막 혼성공정을 제시하고, 물-초산 혼합물과 물-에탄올 혼합물의 분리공정을 각각 모사하였다. 증류탑 상부 흐름이 친수성 막을 통과하여 물을 높은 순도로 분리하는 공정을 모사하였다. 실험과 문헌에서 얻은 친수성 막의 투과도를 토대로 막 모델을 만들어 막 면적을 계산하였다. 제시한 공정의 최적화를 위해, 목적함수를 연간 총 비용으로 정하고 주요 설계 변수들을 최적화 변수로 하여 최적화 문제를 구성하였다. 또한, 혼성공정의 각 최적화 변수의 변화에 따른 목적함수 값의 변화 추세를 나타내고 최적화 변수를 최적점에 가까운 값으로 쉽게 추측할 수 있는 방법을 제안하였다.

Evaluation of extraction methods for essential oils in mugwort (Artemisia montana) using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry

  • Mugwort (Artemisia montana), which is a perennial plant mainly distributed throughout Northeast Asian regions, has been used as a preferred source of various foods and traditional medicines in Korea. In particular, as essential oils extracted from mugwort were reported to be biologically active, its steam distillate has been widely used to treat various conditions, such as itching, hemorrhoids, and gynecological inflammation. Therefore, efforts have been devoted to develop effective methods for the collection of bioactive essential oils from mugwort. In this study, five mugwort extracts were obtained using different extraction conditions, namely, 6 % ethanol at room temperature and at 80 ℃, pure ethanol, n-hexane, and an adsorbent resin. To evaluate the five extracts of mugwort, area-under-the-curve values (AUCs), chemical profiles, and major bioactive essential oil contents were investigated using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). An overall assessment of the volatile components, including essential oils, in the five extracts was conducted using AUCs, and the individual essential oil in each extract was identified. Furthermore, the four major essential oils (1,8-cineole, camphor, borneol, and α-terpineol), which are known to possess anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory activities, were quantified using authentic chemical standards. Based on the evaluation results, pure ethanol was the best extractant out of the five used in this study. This study provides evaluation results for the five different mugwort extracts and would be helpful for developing extraction methods to efficiently collect the bioactive oil components for medical purposes using chemical profiles of the extracts.
