  • Music summarization refers to a technique which automatically extracts the most important and representative segments in music content. In this paper, we propose and evaluate a technique which provides the repeated part in music content as music summary. For extracting a repeated segment in music content, the proposed algorithm uses the weighted sum of similarity measures based on multi-level vector quantization for fixed-length summary or optimal-length summary. For similarity measures, count-based similarity measure and distance-based similarity measure are proposed. The number of the same codeword and the Mahalanobis distance of features which have same codeword at the same position in segments are used for count-based and distance-based similarity measure, respectively. Fixed-length music summary is evaluated by measuring the overlapping ratio between hand-made repeated parts and automatically generated ones. Optimal-length music summary is evaluated by calculating how much automatically generated music summary includes repeated parts of the music content. From experiments we observed that optimal-length summary could capture the repeated parts in music content more effectively in terms of summary length than fixed-length summary.

  • This study was performed to investigate propagation characteristics and effects of road traffic noise generated from vehicles. Noise levels of expressway and general road were measured at four points in a straight line based on distance from the road, and analyzed. The average noise level of expressway was 78.9 dBA at 5 m, 76.4 dBA at 10 m, 72.0 dBA at 20 m, 69.0 dBA at 30 m. That of general road was lower about $3.1{\sim}3.5\;dBA$ than that of expressway. There was no significant difference in distance attenuation between expressway noise and general road noise. The farer the distance from source is, the more the attenuation is. The influence range of noise is assessed by noise environmental standards or road noise limits. Noise levels of the time zone were measured at a boundary line of apartment to grasp noise variation by time. The time zone of lowest noises was $3{\sim}4$ a.m. and that of highest noise was $8{\sim}10$ a.m. Data recorded on tapes were analyzed to understand the characteristics of frequency because these characteristics are important factors to plan the noise reduction measures, namely path measures.

  • Cook's distance(Cook, 1997) is one of the most widely used influence measures to assess the influence of single observations or sets of observations in the linear regression model. After computing Cook(1977) suggested guidelines based on a confidence ellipsoid for the regression parameter ${\beta}$. In this paper, we suggest cutoff values for Cook's distance cia Monte Carlo simulation, and compare them with Cook's guidelines. An example based on a real data set is given.

  • Existent distance measurement that use camera is method that use both Stereo Camera and Monocular Camera, There is shortcoming that method that use Stereo Camera is sensitive in effect of a lot of expenses and environment variables, and method that use Monocular Camera are big computational complexity and error. In this study, reduce expense and error using Monocular Camera and I suggest algorithm that measure distance, Extract features using scale Invariant features Transform(SIFT) for distance measurement, and this measures distance through features matching and geometrical analysis, Proposed method proves measuring distance with wall by geometrical analysis free wall through feature point abstraction and matching.

  • We construct the fuzzy entropy for measuring of uncertainty with the help of relation between distance measure and similarity measure. Proposed fuzzy entropy is constructed through distance measure. In this study, the distance measure is used Hamming distance measure. Also for the measure of similarity between fuzzy sets or crisp sets, we construct similarity measure through distance measure, and the proposed 려zzy entropies and similarity measures are proved.

  • In this paper, we evaluate the performance of zone-based registration and distance-based registration. First, we propose the mobility model which can be used to analyze the performance of both zone-based registration and distance-based registration. And using the proposed mobility model, we obtain several performance measures and perform numerical computation to compare the performance of two registration methods. Numerical results show that in general zone-based registration needs less number of registration than distance-based registration. On the other hand, if distance-based registration is used, registration load is equally distributed to all cells in a location area and ping-pong phenomenon is not occurred. And when a VLR area is composed of a few location areas, distance-based registration may need less registration load than zone-based registration. Therefore, a proper registration method should be selected considering system circumstances and implementation complexity, and the selected method should be implemented so as to change system parameters according to system circumstances.

  • This study examined the effects of egocentric distance and screen size on learners' perceived virtual presence in a virtual reality environment with a large-screen display. Sixty-four undergraduate students participated in the study, which used a 3×2 randomized-block factorial design with repeated measures. Two independent variables were included: 1) egocentric distance, or the physical distance between the viewer's position and a screen display, and 2) screen size, or different screen heights with fixed width. Learners' perceived virtual presence, comprising involvement, spatial presence, and realness, was the dependent variable. Results showed that egocentric distance had significant effects on virtual presence, while screen size had none. A detailed discussion and implications are provided.

  • Music-similarity computation is crucial in developing music information retrieval systems for browsing and classification. This paper overviews the recently-proposed centroid-model based music retrieval method and applies the distributional similarity measures to the model for retrieval-performance evaluation. Probabilistic distance measures (also called divergence) compute the distance between two probability distributions in a certain sense. In this paper, we consider the alpha divergence in computing distance between two centroid models for music retrieval. The alpha divergence includes the widely-used Kullback-Leibler divergence and Bhattacharyya distance depending on the values of alpha. Experiments were conducted on both genre and singer datasets. We compare the music-retrieval performance of the distributional similarity with that of the vector distances. The experimental results show that the alpha divergence improves the performance of the centroid-model based music retrieval.

  • Position measurement using a camera has been studied for a long time. This is being studied for distance recognition or object recognition in autonomous vehicles, and it is being studied in the field of indoor navigation, which is a limited space where GPS is difficult to apply. In general, in a method of measuring the distance using a camera, the distance is measured using a distance between the cameras using two stereo cameras and a value measured through a captured image or photo. In this paper, we propose a method of measuring the distance of an object using a single camera. The proposed method measures the distance by using the distance between cameras, such as a stereo camera, and the value measured by the photographed picture through the gap of the photographing time and the distance between photographing.
