전기-UV 복합 공정을 이용한 E. coli 소독 : 실험계획법중 박스-벤켄법을 이용한 소독 특성 및 최적화 (Disinfection of E. coli Using Electro-UV Complex Process: Disinfection Characteristics and Optimization by the Design of Experiment Based on the Box-Behnken Technique)

  • The experimental design and response surface methodology (RSM) have been applied to the investigation of the electro-UV complex process for the disinfection of E. coli in the water. The disinfection reactions of electro-UV process were mathematically described as a function of parameters power ($X_1$), NaCl dosage ($X_2$), initial pH ($X_3$) and disinfection time ($X_4$) being modeled by use of the Box-Behnken technique. The application of RSM using the Box-Behnken technique yielded the following regression equation, which is an empirical relationship between the residual E. coli number and test variables in actual variables: Ln (CFU) = 23.57 - 0.87 power - 1.87 NaCl dosage - 2.13 pH - 2.84 time - 0.09 power time - 0.07 NaCl dosage pH + 0.14 pH time + 0.03 $power^2$ + 0.47 NaCl $dosage^2$ + 0.20 $pH^2$+ 0.33 $time^2$. The model predictions agreed well with the experimentally observed result ($R^2$ = 0.9987). Graphical response surface and contour plots were used to locate the optimum point. The estimated ridge of maximum response and optimal conditions for the E. coli disinfection using canonical analysis was Ln 1.06 CFU (power, 15.40 W; NaCl dosage, 1.95 g/L, pH, 5.94 and time, 4.67 min). To confirm this optimum condition, the obtained number of the residual E. coli after three additional experiments were Ln 1.05, 1.10 and Ln 1.12. These values were within range of 0.62 (95% PI low)~1.50 (95% PI high), which indicated that conforming the reproducibility of the model.

  • Water disinfection using UV-LED(Light emitting diode) has many advantages, such as smaller footprint and power consumption as well as relatively longer lifespan than those of conventional mercury-UV lamps. Moreover, UV-LED disinfection is considered an environmentally benign process due to its mercury-free nature. In this study, disinfection using an LED module emitting 275nm UV was carried out. 384 UV-LEDs were put into a cylinder tube with a capacity of 1.7 liters. The UV intensity of the UV-LED module was controlled from 1.7 to 8.4 mW/cm2. The disinfection efficiency for the model microorganism solutions(E. coli ) was monitored. As the UV intensity(I) and contact time(t) varied, inactivation of the microorganisms from 2 to 4-log-removals(i.e., 99 to 99.99% of disinfection efficiency) was achieved. Disinfection using UV-LED was followed to 1st order reaction and the reaction rate constant, k was determined. In addition, the relationship between UV intensity(I) and contact time(t) in order to obtain 99.99% of disinfection efficiency was modeled: I1.2·t= 460, which indicates that the product of UV intensity and contact time requiring 4-log-removals is always constant.

국내 의료기관의 소독과 멸균 관리 실태 (Actual Disinfection and Sterilization Control in Korean Healthcare Facilities)

  • Purpose: This study was done to investigate the status of disinfection and sterilization in healthcare facilities. Method: A survey of 193 Korean healthcare facilities was conducted from February 8 to March 7, 2013. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2$ test, Fisher's exact test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe with SPSS WIN 18.0. Results: Of the healthcare facilities 93.2% had specific guidelines for disinfection/sterilization, but only 47.9% had a committee on disinfection/sterilization for decision-making, less than half (42.7%) conducted regular monitoring of actual practices, while 83.9% had established procedures for recovery in case of problems with the disinfection process and 89.0% kept records and archives of disinfection practices. Cleaning process, selection of chemical disinfectants and process of disinfection and sterilization were found to be inadequate in some healthcare facilities. Perception score for adequacy of medical instruments was 8.10, environmental disinfection was 7.20, and sterilizer management was 8.45 out of a possible 10. Conclusion: Compared to larger institutions, smaller healthcare facilities had less effective disinfection and sterilization management systems, while some facilities showed inadequate practices for medical equipment and general sterilization. Better academic and state-level support is recommended for smaller facilities in order to establish a better system-wide management system.

유전체 장벽 방전 플라즈마 방전수의 특성과 미생물 소독에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Microorganism Disinfection and Characteristics of Discharged Water of Dielectric Barrier Discharge Plasma Systems)

  • Objectives: This experiment was carried out to elucidate the effect of discharged water on the disinfection of $Phytophthora$ $capsici$ and evaluate the water characteristics. Methods: The dielectric barrier discharges (DBD) plasma reactor system used in this study consisted of a plasma component [discharge, ground electrode and quartz dielectric tube], high voltage source, and air supply. The effects of water characteristics such as pH, ORP and conductivity and the disinfection effect of discharged water were investigated. Results: Experimental results showed that in the process of discharge, the pH decreased, whereas ORP and electric conductivity increased. When the discharge time was 30 min, $Phytophthora$ $capsici$ of 2.94 log was disinfected within 300 seconds. Disinfection performance of stored discharged water was maintained for three days; however the disinfection effect vanished after five days. When $Phytophthora$ $capsici$ was injected into the discharged water, the disinfection effect decreased after two days. Conclusions: It is considered that the main disinfection parameters of the discharged water were chemically active species such as $H_2O_2$ and $O_3$ and high ORP.

여과-Plasma 공정을 이용한 Ralstonia Solanacearum 불활성화 (Inactivation of Ralstonia Solanacearum using Filtration-Plasma Process)

  • For the field application of dielectric barrier discharge plasma reactor in nutrient solution culture, a filtration-DBD (dielectric barrier discharge) plasma reactor was investigated for the Ralstonia solanacearum which causes bacterial wilt in aquiculture. The filtration-DBD plasma reactor system of this study was consisted of filter, plasma reactor, reservoir. The DBD plasma reactor consisted of a quartz dielectric tube, discharge electrode (inner) and ground electrode (outer). The experimental results showed that the inactivation of R. solanacearum with filter media type in filter reactor ranked in the following order: anthracite > fiber ball > sand > ceramic ball > quartz ceramic. In filtration + plasma process, disinfection effect with the voltage was found to small. In disinfection time of 120 minutes, residual R. solanacearum concentration was 1.17 log (15 CFU/mL). When the continuous disinfection time was 120 minute, disinfection effect was thought to keep the four days. In sporadic operation mode of 30 minutes disinfection - 24 hours break, residual R. solanacearum concentration after five days was 0.3 log (2 CFU/mL). It is considered that most of R. solanacearum has been inactivated substantially.

  • The SWTR(Surface Water Treatment Rule) requires achieving removal 99.9% Giardia and 99.99% Virus. To remove Giardia and Virus, disinfection process is essential process. CT is important index for Disinfection performance. CT value is expressed by CXT. C is represented by disinfection concentration and T is represented by $T_{10}$ which means 90% contact time in clearwell. To improve Disinfection performance, it is desirable to increase $T_{10}$. Primary factor affected $T_{10}$ is flow Pattern. Because guide wall change that flow pattern is uniform, we have installed guide wall to increase $T_{10}$. In this paper, we have performed numerical analysis for clearwell installed symmetric guide wall and center divided guide wall using CFD. We have analyzed flow pattern and $T_{10}$ in each clearwell. And. we compare symmetric guide wall with center divided guide wall in flow pattern and $T_{10}$.

고농도 차아염소산나트륨 발생장치의 소독부산물 제어에 관한 연구 (A Study on Control Disinfection By-products in High Sodium Hypochlorite Generation)

  • 상수도 소독공정에서 사용되고 있는 차아염소산나트륨은 일반적으로 유효염소 0.8 %로 생산되어 투입되고 있으며, 투입량이 많아질수록 소독부산물(Chlorate)이 증가되었고 수질기준을 초과하게 된다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 유효염소를 12%로 높인 차아염소산나트륨 발생장치의 전해조에 대해 소독부산물을 제어할 수 있도록 양극수 pH를 조절하였다. 실험결과 전해조 내 양극수 pH를 4.2(일반적인 차아염발생장치 운전 pH)에서 1.53으로 조절함으로서 Chlorate 농도는 95% 이상 낮아진 것으로 나타났으며, 또한 낮은 전류가 인가됨에 따라 양극의 효율도 15% 개선되는 결과를 얻었다. 이 장치의 개발로 대용량 상수도에서도 안전한 차아염소산나트륨의 적용이 가능하여 소독공정의 안전성 향상에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

클라우드 기반 O2O 소독 서비스 시스템 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation on Cloud-based System for O2O Disinfection Services)

  • 코로나19의 발생으로 인한 방역 및 소독업무의 중요성이 높아짐에 따라 소독원을 모집하고 싶은 소독사업자와 일하고 싶은 소독원의 수요가 증가했지만, 구인·구직은 쉽지 않은 실정이며, 소독 업무에 대한 자동화와 업무를 효율적으로 관리할 수 있는 시스템이 필요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 O2O 소독 서비스 시스템을 MVC 패턴을 사용하여 설계하고, MySQL, Ejs/BootStrap 뷰, Node.js를 통해 구현한다. 또한, AWS 클라우드 서비스와 연동하여 사용자가 언제 어디서나 시스템을 사용할 수 있게 한다. 제안한 O2O 소독 서비스 시스템을 통해 국내 소독방역 시장의 인력 채용의 어려움을 해결하고, 기존의 비효율적인 소독 업무 프로세스 개선을 기대한다.

  • 본 연구는 수처리 주요공정의 소독공정에 대한 자동운전 구축현황과 목표주입율 결정시 체류시간동안 염소 소모량을 분석하고 활용하기 위한 기술을 연구하고 제시하는데 있다. 본 연구를 위하여 자동운전을 위한 시설물 구조 및 하부설비 설치현황을 조사하였으며, 현 시스템의 문제점을 분석하고 해결을 위한 자동운전 프로그램을 개발하여 적용하였으며 이에 따른 효과도 분석 제시하였다. 특히 시지연공정 및 다변수 공정제어에 적합한 모델예측제어 알고리즘을 적용하여 환경인자와 반응시간 등의 상관관계를 분석하고 최적 제어 입력값을 추론할 수 있도록 함으로써 안정적인 공정제어가 가능함을 모델평가를 통하여 확인하였다.

돼지 운송 차량과 운전자에 대한 도축장에서의 세척 및 소독 과정에 대한 고찰 (A study of washing and disinfection process for pig transport vehicles and drivers in abattoirs)

  • Various infectious diseases have threatened swine industries in Korea. One of the major risk factors of disease spread is livestock transport vehicle. For this reason, all abattoirs are required by law to have vehicle washing and disinfection facilities. However, detailed guidelines for cleaning and disinfection procedures were not provided. So in this study, assessment by visual observation was conducted to evaluate how well the cleaning and disinfection procedures of livestock transport vehicles have been performed in four different abattoirs in Jeonbuk, Korea. The observation included length of car washing time, the number of washing bay, type of washperson, type of disinfectant application, length of disinfection time, and compliance of driver's hygienic procedure. Every vehicle in all abattoirs conducted washing and disinfection procedure. However, there were procedural differences for each abattoirs and defects in the washing and disinfection procedures. In addition to that, the compliance of driver's hygienic procedure was not sufficient. Hence, detailed manuals on washing and disinfection procedures for involved people are required and it is necessary to establish an inspection and evaluation system.
