  • In Gas Insulated Substation(GIS), Very Fast Transient Overvoltages(VFTOs) are generated by the switching operation of disconnector or circuit breaker and it is propagated to each component of GIS. Each component of GIS is modeled by lumped line model and distributed line model based on equivalent circuits. The various cases which can be operated and the various closing point-on-wave are considered. In this paper, magnitude and rate-of-rise of VFTO are simulated and analyzed by comparing the simulation results. Measurements are performed at transformer and circuit breaker.

  • Recently composite insulators are being used for outdoor high voltage applications. Composite insulators for transmission line have significant advantages over porcelain insulators, especially for ultra-high voltage. Their advantages are light weight, vandalism resistance, and hydrophobicity. We developed a 170kV high reliable vertical break disconnector with good long term electrical and mechanical performance which was achieved by the improvement of electrical performance and light weight. We discuss the outline of the development and the product.

  • Very Fast Transients (VFT) originate mainly from disconnector switching operations in Gas Insulated Substations (GIS). In order to determine the rate-of-rise of Very Fast Transient Overvoltage (VFTO) in a 550 kV GIS, simulations are carried out using EMTP-RV. Each component of the GIS is modeled by distributed line model and lumped model based on equivalent circuits. The various switching conditions according to closing point-on-wave and trapped charge are simulated, and the results are analyzed. Also, the analysis of travelling wave using a lattice diagram is conducted to verify the simulation results.

  • 태양광 발전시스템에서 발생되는 누설전류에 인하여 누전화재와 인체감전 등의 전기재해를 방지하기 위해서 직류누전차단기를 개발하였다. 직류누설전류를 측정할 수 있는 센서를 개발하여 (+)전선로와 (-)전선로에 흐르는 누설전류를 각각 검출하는 방법을 제안하였다. 제안된 방법과 개발된 센서를 이용하여 시작품을 제작하고 센서에 대한 감도전류 특성시험을 수행하였다. 또한 인버터가 포함되어 있는 태양광 발전시스템에 적용하여 실제 나타나는 직류누설전류를 측정하는 시험을 수행하였다. 그 결과 직류누설전류센서의 정확성을 확인하였으며, 전선로에 흐르는 직류 및 교류성분의 누설전류를 ${\pm}5%$ 범위 내에서 측정함을 확인하였다. 개발된 센서를 적용한 태양광 발전용 직류누전차단기를 제작하였다.

  • Recently, GIS(Gas Insulated Switchgear) has been recognizing of importance on development of diagnosis technique which is happened problem on confidence for a long time use. Therefore, the measurement and analysis of PD with prior phenomenon of insulation breakdown is used many method of diagnosis for GIS. In this paper, we simulate trouble condition in DS and analysis trouble signal to use electrical and mechanical methods, interpretation of detected signal has analysed with to use ø-q-n pattern and neural network. For this analysis, we have used the induction and AE(acoustic emission) sensors. For the simulation experiment, we make DS for 170 KV GIS and analyze the classification and characteristics of detected signals with the application of neural network algorithm.

Longterm Aging Characteristics of Distribution Polymer Housed Surge Arresters by Multistress Accelerated Aging (복합 가속열화를 통한 배전용 고분자 피뢰기의 장기 열화특성 예측)

  • In this study accelerated aging test equipment was developed to simulate domestic weather condition for accelerated aging test of polymer housed distribution surge arresters. Polymer arresters were aged for 3,000 hours by this test equipment and chemical and electrical characteristics analysis of surge arresters were conducted after aging test. In addition, performance assessment of outdoor installed arresters for 3 years was conducted to compare aging effect between accelerated aging test and natural aging. Through this experiment it is verified that the capability of the proposed aging test for simulating natural aging and the housing material and disconnector of domestic polymer arresters can be deteriorated by the long time field operation.

  • Protection against lightning surge is an essential part of almost any electrical and electronic equipment today. Metal Oxide Varistor(MOV) is the single most important component in the overwhelming majority of the Surge Protective Devices(SPD) designated to provide such protection. In this paperr various types of MOV based SPD are inspected and experiments are carried out on the side effects of the low Measured Limiting Voltage(MLV) characteristics. Experiment results show that a lower MLV could cause a higher Temporary Overvoltage(TOV)-induced SPD failure rate in the field, and SPD are more likely to be victims rather than protectors in a TOV scenario. This means that from a safety perspective, the SPD should be specified with higher TOV withstand capability(UT) and faster SPD disconnector.

  • 본 연구에서는 최근 신재생에너지원으로서 가장 널리 사용되고 있는 태양광 시스템에 대하여 화재발생시 야기될 수 있는 위험성뿐만 아니라 화재진압 과정에서 발생할 수 있는 문제들을 다루었다. 특히 주택의 지붕위에 설치된 실리콘이 주성분인 태양광 패널은 화재가 발생할 경우 생성되는 열을 차단 및 반사하여 건물 내에 축적시킴으로써 화재강도를 직접적으로 증가시킬 수 있으므로 설치 시 이러한 위험성에 대비할 수 있는 방안을 마련해야 한다. 또한 PV 시스템에 연결된 고압 전력선에 물을 뿌릴 경우 소방대원들의 감전으로 인한 부상이나 사망으로 이어질 수 있으므로, 이를 방지하기 위한 대책마련이 시급한 것으로 나타났다. 해외에서는 현재 전력전자 소자가 내장되어 있는 DC 차단스위치 및 모듈이 판매되고 있는 것으로 조사되었다.

  • The clarification of insulation capability of GIS(Gas Insulated Substation) under very fast transient overvoltages such as disconnector/circuit-breaker induced surge is very important for establishing not only a rational insulation testing method, but also insulation design intending to make GIS more reliable and more minimized. One of the absolute prerequisits for this is that more accurate measurement of VFTO. This describes capacitive voltage measuring methods for high voltage steep-footed oscillating waves using capacitive coupling principle and their systems including source and load impedances. Time domain response of unit step and its frequency characteristics are also investigated.

  • $SF_6$ gas has become an important insulation medium in modern electric power apparatus, because of its high insulation withstand levels and good arc quenching capability. For the application of $SF_6$ gas in GIS the estimation of insulation properties is a fundamental point. Moreover the reduction of withstand levels in case of inhomogeneous fields caused by particles or fixed protrusions is of special interest. It is known that the presence of free conducting particles in GIS can significantly lower the insulating level of $SF_6$ gas at elevated pressure and also it has been recently shown that dielectric strength is greatly reduced by fast transients such as disconnector surges where metallic particles are involved. In this paper, we have disigned the particle test chamber rated 362kV for the purpose of investigating the discharge characteristics in SF6 gas where inhomogenius fields are caused by metallic particles.
