  • We propose the new type of on-chip ESD protection method for RF applications. By using the properties of RF circuits, we can use the short-circuited stub as ESD protection device in front of the DC blocking capacitor Specially, we can use short-circuited stub as the portion of the matching circuit so to reduce the and various parameters of the transmission line. This new type ESD protection method is very different from the conventional ESD protection method. With the new type ESD protection method, we remove the parasitic capacitance of ESD protection device which degrade the performance of core circuit.

  • The composite of polyvinylalcohol(PVA) and lithium salts(LiBF$_4$) is prepared for a solid-state electrolyte of electric double layer capacitor. The composite shows a good ionic conductivity. The solid-state electric double layer capacitor is made of PVA-LiBF$_4$ composite, activated carbon and etc.. As evaluation of characteristics of capacitor, capacitance change which measured by charge-discharge test with 2.2V~0V at 8$0^{\circ}C$ for 800 hours, was about 10%. The gravimetric and volumetric capacitance were 10.0 F/g~30.0 F/g and 16.0F/㎤~F/㎤, respectively.

  • The switching power loss due to the panel capacitance during sustain period in AC PDP driving system can be minimized by using the energy recovery circuits. We proposed a new energy recovery circuit, SER1 (Seoul national univ. Energy Recovery circuit 1st). The experimental results of its application to a 42-inch surface discharge type AC PDP showed superior performance of SER1 in energy recovery efficiency and low distortion voltage waveform. Energy recovery efficiency of SER1 was measured up to 92.3 %, and the power dissipation during the sustain period was reduced by 15.2 W in 2000 pulse/frame compared with serial LC resonance energy recovery circuit.

  • The purpose of this study is to research and develop conducting polymer(CP) composite electrode for supercapacitor. Electrochemical capacitor(supercapacitor) cell of CP composite electrode with 1M LiClO$_4$PC bring out good capacitor performance below 4V. The radius of semicircle of CP composite cell with PAn composite electrode adding l5wt%SP270(PAnS15) and PT composite electrode adding 50wt%SP270 (PTS50) was absolutely small. The total resistance of supercapacitor cell mainly depended on internal resistance of the electrode. The discharge capacitance of supercapacitor cell with PTS50(+)/PAnS15(-) in 1st and 20th cycles was 38F/g and 28F/g at current density of 1mA/cm$^2$. Supercapacitor cell with PTS50(+)/PAnS15(-) showed good capacitance and stability with cycling.

  • The characteristics of ozone generator targeted for air or water sterilizing in the vessel utilizing the surface corona discharge between the electrodes on the ceramic substrate was investigated by using the frequency control method. The frequency control was achieved by controlling the degree of resonance between the secondary winding inductance of transformer and the electrode capacitance of ceramic discharge plate, and the range of control was found to be 5 times of discharge current. This frequency control method showed the efficiency of 28 mP ozone generation and the stability within 3.4 % when the input voltage was varied within 40% range. The frequency control method is regarded to be more efficient way of corona discharge control compared to the conventional on/off control or voltage control methods.

  • The battery industries have been developed to the implementation of lithium ion secondary cell from the cell of Ni/Cd and Ni/MH in the past to be asked of an age of high technology from low technology. Also in resent the polymeric cell to get a good high function with an age of new advanced information system is changed from the 21 century to the secondary batteries society. The properties of lithium secondary batteries have the high energy density, the long cycle time, the low self discharge area and the high active voltage. The wanted properties of secondary batteries for the motion of an apparatuses of industries of an high skill age have a small type trend of the energy density and it is become with a strong asking of the industrial society market about the storable medium of the convenience and new power energy. The electrochemical properties is researched for the cell to be synthesised and crystallized the positive active material LiMnO2 of the secondary cell at 9250C to get a new improved data of the electric discharge for that the capacitance of the LiMnO2 thin film that is improving and researching with the properties and a merit and demerit in the this kind of asking.

  • Porous and porous surfaced Ti-6Al-4V implant compacts were fabricated by electro-discharge-sintering (EDS) of atomized spherical Ti-6Al-4V powders with a diameter of $100-150\;{\mu}m$, The solid core formed in the center of the compact after discharge was composed of acicular ${\alpha}+{\beta}$ Widmanstatten grains, The hardness value at the solid core was much higher than that at the particle interface or particles in the porous layer, which can be attributed to both heat treatment and work hardening effects induced from EDS, The compressive yield strength was in a range of 19 to 436 MPa which significantly depends on both input energy and capacitance, Selected porous-surfaced Ti-6Al-4V implant compacts with a solid core have much higher compressive strengths compared to the human teeth and sintered Ti dental implants.

Surface Modification and Heat Treatment of Ti Rod by Electro Discharge (전기방전에 의한 Ti rod의 열처리 및 표면개질 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Single pulse of 2.0 to 3.5 kJ from $150{\mu}F$ capacitor was applied to the cp Ti rod for its surface modification and heat treatment. Under the conditions of using 2.0 and 2.5 kJ of input energy, no phase transformation has been occurred. However, the hardness and tensile strength decreased and the elongation increased after a discharge due to a slight grain growth. By using more than 3.0 kJ of input energy, the electro discharge made a phase transformation and the hardness at the edge of the cross section increased significantly. The Ti rod before a discharge was lightly oxidized and was primarily in the form of $TiO_2$. However, the surface of the Ti rod has been instantaneously modified by a discharge into the main form of TiN from $TiO_2$. Therefore, the electro discharge can modify its surface chemistry in times as short as $200{\mu}sec$ by manipulating the input energy, capacitance, and discharging environment.

  • In this paper, we propose the possible way of accurate analysis and examination of ITO sensor to discriminate whether mutual capacitance ITO sensor is defective by using mutual capacitance of data in each node which consists of electrodes inside of ITO sensor. We have analyzed the structure characteristic of mutual capacitance ITO sensor which is used as an input device for not only small size electronics like mobile phone and tablets but also big size electronics and designed the circuit to inspect ITO sensor using touch screen panel IC. Set a variable related with mutual capacitance of charge and discharge and Implement to find and analyze accurate position when defect is made through the data from each node of ITO sensor. First, we can set a yield effective range through the first experiment data of mutual capacitance ITO sensor and by using the data of each node of ITO sensor which is the result from the second experiment, we can verify accuracy and effectiveness of effective range from the first experiment as a sample which is used in this experiment.

Hierarchically Structured, Functionalized Graphenes for a Highly Reversible Capacitive Charge Storage

  • Heteroatom phosphorous-doped graphene aerogel (PGA) with high surface area is successfully synthesized via hydrothermal method for high power and energy supercapacitors, including the advantage of three dimensional internetwork and constitutive graphene skeletons. The morphology of PGA was investigated by the scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope. The chemical structure and circumstances were confirmed by Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, the phosphorus is successfully incorporated with the graphene sheets. As evidenced by electrochemical measurements, cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge discharge, the hierarchically PGA has an unprecedented high capacitance, which contributes to the excellent high-rate performance of this material for supercapacitor application.
