Design of Pull Box Members on the Landing Pier Using Finite Element Analysis of a Steel Plate (강재 플레이트 유한요소해석을 이용한 잔교 상부의 풀 박스 부재의 선정)

  • In this study, pull box members were designed by finite element analysis of a steel plate covering a pull box to secure its safety on the landing pier dedicated to the large research survey ship. It was assumed that the maximum load is due to the 250 tonf class crane used for unloading work when the working environment in the upper part of the landing pier was considered. The safety of the pull box was evaluated by the comparison between the yield strength of the steel plate and the result of stress analysis on the steel plate due to the crane load. It was found that the stress at the plate from the crane load exceeded the yield strength of the steel(205MPa) when the upper part of the pull box was protected by a $1950{\times}1950mm$ steel plate cover. In order to compensate for this, a concrete filled steel tube(CFT) column with a diameter of 150 mm and a steel thickness of 10 mm was reinforced at the center of the plate, and the finite element analysis was carried out. However, the maximum stress at the steel plate was higher than the yield strength of the steel in some load cases so that it was tried to find appropriate thickness of the steel plate and diameter of the CFT columns. Finally, the analysis results showed that the safety of the pull box was secured when the thickness of the steel plate and the diameter of the CFT column were increased to 30mm and 180mm, respectively.

A Study on the Safety of Carbon Manufacturing By-product Gas Emissions (카본제조 부생가스 배출 안전성에 관한 연구)

  • In the event of an emergency such as facility shutdown during process operation, the by-product gas must be urgently discharged to the vent stack to prevent leakage, fire, and explosion. At this time, the explosion drop value of the released by-product gas is calculated using ISO 10156 formula, which is 27.7 vol%. Therefore, it does not correspond to flammable gas because it is less than 13% of the explosion drop value, which is the standard for flammable gas defined by the Occupational Safety and Health Act, and since the explosion drop value is high, it can be seen that the risk of fire explosion is low even if it is discharged urgently with the vent stock. As a result of calculating the range of explosion hazard sites for hydrogen gas discharged to the Bent Stack according to KS C IEC 60079-10-1, 23 meters were calculated. Since hydrogen is lighter than air, electromechanical devices should not be installed within 23 meters of the upper portion of the Bent Stack, and if it is not possible, an explosion-proof electromechanical device suitable for type 1 of dangerous place should be installed. In addition, the height of the stack should be at least 5 meters so that the diffusion of by-product gas is facilitated in case of emergency discharge, and it should be installed so that there are no obstacles around it.

  • When a fire takes place, the escape tunnel which could prevent passengers and the crew from disasters would be most important facility among railway tunnel facilities for prevention of disaster. A shorter space between the escape tunnels is much better for safety because of short escape time. The establishment of short space escape tunnels(driftways) in the single track parallel tunnel is much easier. The establishment of long space escape tunnels(inclined shafts, vertical shafts) in the double track is much more advantageous economically. We, therefore, compared the movement time of smog originated from fire with the escape time of the crew and passengers for setting up the best space between the escape tunnels in the double track tunnel. We could calculate the best space between the escape tunnels in the double track tunnel properly by computer simulation.

Application of optimized time domain reflectometry probe for estimating contaminants in saline soil

  • Monitoring contaminants in waste landfills on a seabed is important because the leachate affects the marine ecosystem and facility stability. The objective of this study is to optimize a time-domain reflectometry (TDR) probe using different coating materials and several electrodes to estimate contaminants in saline soil. Copper concentrations ranging from 0 mg/L to 10 mg/L were mixed in 3% salinity water to simulate contaminants in the ocean environment. Epoxy, top-coat, and varnish were used as coating materials, and two to seven electrodes were prepared to vary the number and arrangement of the electrodes. Test results showed that the varnish stably captured the increase in copper concentration, while the other coating materials became insensitive or caused leakage current. In addition, a TDR probe with more electrodes exhibited stable and distinct electromagnetic signals. Thus, the TDR probe with seven electrodes coated with varnish was effectively used to estimate contaminants in saline soil.

  • The purpose of this research and development is to develop a structure module that improves the efficiency and constructability of the layout structure as well as the design development of rainwater permeable storage tank blocks using inorganic binders and aggregates with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas (CO2) with eco-friendly materials. In addition, for the efficient response to flooding of the developed permeable storage structure, we present a technical solution for combining drone mapping technology and flood monitoring technology that can analyze topographical factors in detail.

Landslide Risk Analysis due to Development of Mountain Area (산지지역 개발에 의한 산사태 위험 분석)

  • In this study, the risk of landslides was analyzed for planned development sites in mountainous areas. Field survey was conducted on the research area with the slope and valley site. The criteria for evaluating the risk of landslides in the field survey were based on the risk assessment table of the Korea Forest Service Notice No. 2023-10. The research area has 13 slopes and 11 valleys. As a result of evaluating the risk area, two slopes and two valley were found to be dangerous sites in each. Numerical simulation was performed on the investigated risk areas to predict the spread of damage. The debris flow was simulated to have an affect on roads and buildings located in the lower part of the basin, and it was determined that a disaster prevention facility was nacessary to minimize damage. This information can be used to determine the impact of disasters before carrying out mountain development.

  • The visual implementation of 3-dimensional national environment is focused by the requirement and importance in the fields such as, national development plan, telecommunication facility deployment plan, railway construction, construction engineering, spatial city development, safety and disaster prevention engineering. The currently used DEM system using contour lines, which embodies national geographic information based on the 2-D digital maps and facility information has limitation in implementation in reproducing the 3-D spatial city. Moreover, this method often neglects the altitude of the rail way infrastructure which has narrow width and long length. There it is needed to apply laser measurement technique in the spatial target object to obtain accuracy. Currently, the LiDAR data which combines the laser measurement skill and GPS has been introduced to obtain high resolution accuracy in the altitude measurement. In this paper, we first investigate the LiDAR based researches in advanced foreign countries, then we propose data a generation scheme and an algorithm for the optimal manage and synthesis of railway facility system in our 3-D spatial terrain information. For this object, LiDAR based height data transformed to DEM, and the realtime unification of the vector via digital image mapping and raster via exactness evaluation is transformed to make it possible to trace the model of generated 3-dimensional railway model with long distance for 3D tract model generation.

Moreover, this method often neglects the altitude of the rail way infrastructure which has narrow width and long length. This As the results, We confirmed the solutions of varieties application for railway facilities management using 3-D spatial image contents and database design. Also, I suggested that U-city using railway modeling about matching methods of high density elevation value using 3-D aerial photo with laser data are best approach for detail stereo modeling and simulation.

  • In concept, such as the backup of wired network and disaster prevention network of water treatment measurement and control system, reliability and security of high level of sending and receiving data between the nodes must be ensured in Ad-hoc network construction. Rather than apply the common communication protocols of Ad-hoc network construction during the FA network of closed water treatment facility with the facility of a certain scale is concentrated contrast, and high characteristics of the water treatment system infrastructure, public facilities We have developed a specific protocol another that applies the OTP of communication frame of process control commands and H-ARQ with ZRP by applying the flexibility to time constraints such as precision industrial plants to ensure the safety and property of facility operation.

A Study on the Development Plan for Promotion of Advanced Disaster-Safety Awareness (선진 재난안전의식의 활성화를 위한 방안 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to create the deveopment plan for promotion of advanced disaster-safety awareness, which is noted as a major factor in the large disaster. Method: This study is to conduct theoretical review with regard to disaster management and safety awareness. Consciousness surveys on safety awareness and previous disaster case was analyzed to derive the cause of the disaster, and the development plan for promotion of advanced disaster-safety awareness was suggested. Result: In the survey on the public's sense of safety on the disaster management evaluation, 'Response' stage was well performed, but the 'Recovery' stage was not. Especially, it was found that disaster safety education at the 'Prevention' stage was very lacking. In the survey on the public's safety awareness, the awareness level of the evacuation facility was very low, information on infectious diseases and collapse accident was insufficient. Especially, it has been found that the awareness on safety regulation in daily life is very insufficient. Through the case study on previous disaster(COVID-19, Fire in Miryang Sejong Hospital, Forest fire in the east coas at 2004'), it was derived that the lack of safety awareness(such as safety insensitivity) was the main factor of the expansion of the damage scale. Conclusion: The development plan for promotion of advanced disaster-safety awareness are as follow. First, it is necessary to spread the safety culture movement through the expansion of safety education and safety promotion. Second, disaster confrontation training for the public should be implemented to improve the effectiveness of disaster response. Finally, it is necessary to change the individual awareness on safety. When these factors are implemented systematically, advanced disaster-safety awareness can be promoted. Ultimately, disaster accidents in our society can be reduced.
