Although the spontaneous disappearance or decrease in size of a herniated disc is well known, that of a large extruded disc has rarely been reported. This paper reports a case of a spontaneous regression of a large lumbar disc extrusion. The disc regressed spontaneously with clinical improvement and was documented on a follow up MRI study 6 months later. The literature is reviewed and the possible mechanisms of spontaneous disc regression are discussed.

Han River water landscape changes between 1966 and 2002 were detected by interpreting IKONOS images, aerial photographs. Digital photogrammetry technique was used in this process. Most of water landscape change are disappearance of sandbars and meandering streams in 1966. It is mainly due to the stream straightening for housing site development.

The effect of tempering temperatures on microstructures and mechanical properties was studied in a low carbon steel. The disappearance of continuous yielding and the formation of an extended region in engineering stress-strain curves at tempering temperatures ranging from 673 to 873K was caused by the reduction of mobile dislocations during tempering and dynamic recovery during tensile deformation. In addition, the occurrence of discontinuous yielding in the sample treated at the tempering temperatures above 923K was attributed to the formation of new strain-free polygonal ferrite grain.

One case is presented in which there was radiographic evidence that pleural space fluid disappeared at the 15th day after pneumonectomy. Clinical course was uneventful and the space was refilled at the postoperative fifth month. This complication was probably due to the presence of small a bronchopleural fistula, in spite of the difficulty experienced in its demonstration. Conservative management is recommended with frequent clinical and radiographic observations, so that early surgical intervention may be undertaken if an overt bronchopleural fistula results.

This paper is a study on the improvement of WPTA algorithm available for the recognition of various characters. WPTA algorithm can extract the skeleton of a character almost similar to the original pattern by using the connection value representing connectivity of each pixel. In this paper we show that the skeleton disappearance phenomena existing in WPTA and propose modified algorithm which can eliminate this phenomena.

In order to elucidate the effects of Panax Ginseng on the pharmacokinetic parameters of nalidixic acid in a patho-physiological changes, the kinetics of the disappearance of the drug from the blood, appearance in the bile and urinary excretion were studied in $CCl_4-toxicated$ rabbits. The pharmacokinetics of the drug nalidixic acid in rabbits were modeled by a two compartment. Total saponin, water extract from Panax Ginseng, significantly decreased biliary and urinary excretion of nalidixic acid.

Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) temperature studies were performed to examine the microstructural changes that occur in annealing process of the thin films of 1,2-polybutadiene (1,2-PBu)/palladium chloride (PdCl2) complex. The disappearance of the infrared absorption intensities at 1640, 1418, 994 and 910 cm-1 signifies the consumption of 1,2-vinyl groups of 1,2-PBu. The progressive loss of unsaturation and production of methyl groups as a function of temperature were identified by the enhanced infrared absorption intensities at 1447 and 1375 cm-1. The loss of pendent carbon-carbon double bond is considered to involve both palladium-catalyzed addition reaction and thermally induced cyclization.
