  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the normal range of condylar movement of normal adults. The author has observed roentgenographic images of four serial positions of condylar head taken by modified transcranail lateral oblique projection. The serial positions are centric occlusion, rest position, 1 inch open position and maximal open position. The results were obtained as follow; 1. Inter-incisal distance was 46.85㎜ in maximal open position. 2. The length between the deepest point of glenoid fossa and summit of condylar head in rest position was wider than that in centric occlusion by 0.8㎜. 3. In 1 inch open position, condylar head moved forward from the standard line in 12.64㎜ of horizontal direction and moved downwards from the standard line in 1.84㎜ of vertical direction. 4. In maximal open position, condylar head moved forward from the standard line in 19.06㎜ of horizontal direction and moved downwards from thestanard line in 0.4㎜ of vertical direction. 5. In centric occlusion, the width between glenoid fossa and margin of condylar head was greater in the posterior portion than in the anterior portion by 0.4㎜. 6. Except for the estimated figures of 1 inch open position, all of the estimated figures was greater in male than in female.

  • We have proposed a novel line detection method based on the estimated probability density function of gradient directions of edges. By estimating peaks of the density function, we determine groups of edges that have the same gradient direction. For edges in the same groups, we detect lines that correspond to peaks of the connectivity weighted distribution of the distances from the origin. In the experiments using the Data Matrix barcode images and LCD images, the proposed method showed better performance than conventional Methods in terms of the processing speed and accuracy.

  • While the utility of the number line is considerable, articulating its conceptual foundation is often neglected in school mathematics. We suggest that it is important to build up strong conceptual foundations in the earlier grades so that number lines can be used in a more meaningful way and that any misconceptions associated with the number line can be prevented or intervened. This paper addresses unit, direction, and origin as the key elements of number lines and presents activities from Davydov's curriculum for early grades that promote exploration of those key elements and may resolve some students' misconceptions. As shown in sample activities from Davydov's curriculum, this paper suggests that students can broaden their perspectives on the number line and use it versatilely in various areas of mathematics learning when they deeply engage in the construction of a number line and have flexibility in interpreting the relationships between key number line elements.

  • Spool displacement of a direction control valve is the standard signal to measure the bandwidth frequency of the direction control valve. When the spool displacement signal is not available, it is suggested in this study to use the metering hydraulic line as an alternative way to measure - 90 degree phase bandwidth frequency of the hydraulic direction control valve. Dynamics of the hydraulic line is composed of inertia, capacitance, and friction effects. The effect of oil inertia is dominant in common hydraulic line dynamics and the line dynamics is close to a derivative action in a range of high frequency; such as a range of bandwidth frequency of common directional control valves. Phase difference between spool displacement and line load pressure is nearly constant as a valve close to 90 degree. If phase difference is compensated from the phase between valve input and pressure, compensated phase may be almost same as the phase of spool displacement that is a standard signal to measure phase bandwidth frequency of the directional control valve. A series of experiments were conducted to examine the possibility of using line pressure in to measure phase bandwidth frequency of a directional control valve. Phase bandwidth frequency could be measured with relatively high precision based on metering hydraulic line technique and it reveals consistent results even when valve input, oil temperature, and supply pressure change.

  • This paper describes extraction procedure for the center coordinates of steam generator tubes of Youngkwang NPP #6, which are arrayed in triangular patterns. Steam generator tube images taken with wide field-of-view lens and low-light lamp mounted on a ccd camera tend to have low contrast, because steam generator is sealed and poorly illuminated. The extraction procedures consists of two steps. The first step is to process the region with superior contrast in entire image of steam generator tubes and to extract the center points. Using the extracted coordinates in the first step and the geometrical array characteristics of tubes lined up in regular triangle forms, the central points of the rest region with low contrast are estimated. The straight lines from center point of a tube to neighbour points in horizontal and 60, 120$^{\circ}$ degree directions are derived. The intersections of straight line In horizontal direction and slant line in regular triangle direction are selected as the center coordinates of steam generator tubes. The Chi-square interpolation method is used to determine the line's coefficients in horizontal and regular triangle direction.

  • Line may receiver contains an ambiguity on conjugate bearings, because of lacking aperture in transverse direction. To solve the left/right bearing ambiguity of line-array receiver we used line-array with cardioid beam. In addition, the synthetic aperture method adopts coherent processing of sub-aperture signals at successive time intervals in the beam domain. We presented performances about division of left/right bearing ambiguity according to array synthetic number of times in this paper.

  • Herein the water film was introduced to the hydrophilic area on the line patterned surface to solve the contradiction caused by surface roughness (high different wettability has advantage to control the droplet but high roughness for that high wettability difference causes obstruction of droplet moving). Thus the droplet on the water film could not be hindered to line direction but restricted to orthogonal direction, effectively. In addition, droplet behaviors according to droplet volume and line thickness were studied. Droplet fell off the line with narrowing the interface between the droplet and the water film on the line. When the droplet fell off the line, the plate angle was designated as a critical plate angle and it used as an indicator of surface capability to control the droplet. As a result critical plate angle increases as droplet volume decreases and line thickness increases.

  • This paper presents, a deinterlacing method by improving the Direction-Oriented Interpolation (DOI) technique. The technique is considered to be a very strong tool for intrafield-based deinterlacing. However, DOI has some problems such as long processing time, wrong edge detection in periodic pattern. To remedy this problem, we replace the full search in DOI by a two-step search to reduce processing time and introduces two additional processes to improve image quality. In the proposed method, the spatial direction vectors (SDVs) misread data are reconsidered to prevent them utilizing in the next interpolation step, resulting in an accurate deinterlacing method. We conduct experiments with ISO experimental images to compare the proposed method with the existing methods including line evarage (LA), edge-based line averaging (ELA), DOI, selective deinterlacing algorithm (SDA). Experimental results show the proposed method gives better performance in objective and subjective quality than existing deinterlacing methods.

  • This study is to observe stray currents generated around the steel tower by domestic transmission network system and analysis stability of electric detonator. It is measured the stay current of each ten place at steel tower of 765 kV, 345 tV, 154 tV transmission line among domestic transmission network system. Stay currents measured a total of 40m at intervals of 4m toward a line direction and a line vertical direction centering around steel tower. Temperature of the surface, EC, water content also are measured. Although stay currents show the highest values, that is 12 percent of at 4m and less than 1 percent of 40m with Institute of Makers of Explosives(IME) regulations. It is shown correlation between stay currents and water content$\cdot$EC$\cdot$temperature of the surface. Stay currents measured at line direction and line vertical direction were little different and the shape of diminution was also shown a similar aspect.

  • This paper describes a fingerprint classification on the basis of feature points(whorl, core) and feature vector and uses a syntactic approach to identify the shape of flow line around the core. Fingerprint image is divided into 8 by 8 subregions and fingerprint region is separated from background. For each subregion of fingerprint region, the dominant ridge direction is obtained to use the slit window quantized in 8 direction and relaxation is performed to correct ridge direction code. Feature points(whorl, core, delta) are found from the ridge direction code. First classification procedure divides the types of fingerprint into 4 class based on whorl and cores. The shape of flow line around the core is obtained by tracing for the fingerprint which has one core or two core and is represented as string. If the string is acceptable by LR(1) parser, feature vector is obtained from feature points(whorl, core, delta) and the shape of flow line around the core. Feature vector is used hierarchically and linearly to classify fingerprint again. The experiment resulted in 97.3 percentages of sucessful classification for 71 fingerprint impressions.
