In this study, we compared the measured values of the effective beam size of standard gamma irradiator with the simulation results to provide a useful means to the effective beam area determination. Results of the simulation and measured using ion chamber was distributed in a relative error of 4.5 ~ 7.3% of the case of air kerma rate. The size of the effective beam area is when the simulation was implemented in the horizontal direction 27cm, 21.6cm vertical direction, the measured result using a film was obtained similar results with the horizontal direction 26.5cm, 21.9cm vertical direction. The relative error in the horizontal direction is 1.85% and 1.38% vertical effective beam area was also similarly distributed around the field gamma rays. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that the effectiveness of the simulation was sufficient for the gamma irradiation system. In particular, it is small relative errors in the effective beam size than the air kerma rate is considered to be due to the size of the beam is determined by geometric factors rather than the capacity of the standard source. A further study is needed to improve the reliability of the photon energy distribution diagram using simulation.
The modified TOPMODEL of two storage systems has been integrated to the generalized assumptions of decreasing hydraulic conductivity to vertical direction. Three different recharge functions were introduced to explore the impact of the macropore flow to vortical direction, the storage at the surface zone and the relative storage deficit of the soil matrix. Combinations of these approaches provide 30 type of the model structure for the hillslope hydrology. Developed models have been applied to several hydrologic events at the Sulmachun watershed. The performance evaluation with the Monte carlo simulation suggests that the exponential function of transmissivity reduction should be appropriate form for the physically -based hydrologic simulation on the Sulmachun watershed. It has been shown that the recharge function of macropore flow contributes to improve the predictability of the generalized version of modified TOPMODEL.
The dynamic effects, such as the steering and the screening effects during deposition on an epitaxial growth is studied by kinetic Monte Carlo simulation. In the simulation, we incorporates molecular dynamic simulation to rigorously take the interaction of the deposited atom with the substrate atoms into account, We find three characteristic features of the surface morphology developed by grazing angle deposition: (1) enhanced surface roughness, (2) asymmetric mound, and (3) asymmetric slopes of mound sides, Regarding their dependence on both deposition angle and substrate temperature, a reasonable agreement of the simulated results with the previous experimental ones is found. The characteristic growth features by grazing angle deposition are mainly caused by the inhomogeneous deposition flux due to the steering and screening effects, where the steering effects play the major role rather than the screening effects. Newly observed in the present simulation is that the side of mound in each direction is composed of various facets instead of all being in one selected mound angle even if the slope selection is attained, and that the slope selection does not necessarily mean the facet selection.

Recently, a new monkey computational phantom, called Visible Monkey, was developed for non-ionizing radiation studies in animal research. In this study, we extended its applications to ionizing radiation studies by implementing the voxel model of the Visible Monkey into three general-purpose Monte Carlo (MC) codes: MCNP6, PHITS, and Geant4. The implementation work for MCNP and PHITS was conducted using the LATTICE, UNIVERSE, and FILL cards. The G4VNestedParameterisation class was used for Geant4. Then, organ dose coefficients (DCs) for idealized photon beams in the antero-posterior direction were calculated using the three codes and compared, showing excellent agreement (differences <3%). Additionally, organ DCs in other directions (postero-anterior, left-lateral, and right-lateral) were calculated and compared with those of the newborn and 1-year-old reference phantoms. Significant differences were observed (e.g., the stomach DC of the monkey was 5-fold greater than that of the 1-year-old phantom at 0.03 MeV) while the differences tended to decrease with increasing energy (mostly <20% at 10 MeV). The results of this study allows conducting MC simulations using the Visible Monkey to estimate organ-level doses, which should be valuable to support/improve monkey experiments involving ionizing radiation exposures.

The field dependent characteristics of electron transport with GaAs impact ionization have been analyzed, using GaAa full band E-k relationship. The E-k relationship is derived from empirical pseudopotential method, using Fermi's golden rule and local form factor, and Brillouin zone is divided into tetrahedrons for calculating impact ionization rate, and tetrahedron method, in which integrates each tetrahedrons, is used. Monte Carlo simulation is used for analyzing anisotropy of impact ionization. A result of transient analysis for impact ionization has presented that anisotropy of impact ionization only arises during transient state and impact ionization is isotropic under steady state. Anisotropic characteristics of impact ionization for GaAs, which is presented in this paper, can be used in carrying out a transient analysis for GaAs devices.

In this paper the characteristics of submicron gate GaAs MESFET's have been studied using a particle model which takes into account the hot-electron transport phenomena, i.e., the velocity overshoot. \ulcornervalley(<000> direction), L valley (<111>direction), X valley (<100>direction) as the GaAs conduction energy band and optical phonon, acoustic phonon, equivalent intervalley, nonequivalent intervalley scattering as the scattering models, have been considered in this simulation. And the GaAs material and the device simulation have been done by determination of the free flight time, scattering mechanism and scattering angle according to Monte-Carlo algorithm which makes use of a particle model. As a result of the particle simulation, firstly the electron distribution, the potential energy distribution and the situation of electron displacement in 0.6 \ulcorner gate length device have been obtained. Secondly, the cutoff frequency, obtained by this method, is k47GHz which is in good agreement with the calculated result of theory. And the current-voltage characteristics curve which takes account of the buffer layer effect has been obtained. Lastly it has been verified that parasitic current at the buffer layer can be analyzed using channel depth modulation.

Various risk factors affect construction projects. Due to the uncertainties created by risk factors, actual activity durations frequently deviate from the estimated durations in either favorable or adverse direction. For this reason, evaluation of schedule uncertainty is required to make decisions accurately when managing construction projects. In this regard, this paper presents a new computer simulation model - the Repetitive Schedule Risk Analysis Model (RSRAM) - to evaluate unit-based repetitive building project schedules under uncertainty when activity durations and risk factors are correlated. The proposed model utilizes Monte Carlo Simulation and a Critical Path Method based repetitive scheduling procedure. This new procedure concurrently provides the utilization of resources without interruption and the maintenance of network logic through successive units. Furthermore, it enables assigning variable production rates to the activities from one unit to another and any kind of relationship type with or without lag time. Details of the model are described and an example application is presented. The findings show that the model produces realistic results regarding the extent of uncertainty inherent in the schedule.
We used the GEANT4 Monte Carlo MC Toolkit to simulate carbon ion beams incident on water, tissue, and bone, taking into account nuclear fragmentation reactions. Upon increasing the energy of the primary beam, the position of the Bragg-Peak transfers to a location deeper inside the phantom. For different materials, the peak is located at a shallower depth along the beam direction and becomes sharper with increasing electron density NZ. Subsequently, the generated depth dose of the Bragg curve is then benchmarked with experimental data from GSI in Germany. The results exhibit a reasonable correlation with GSI experimental data with an accuracy of between 0.02 and 0.08 cm, thus establishing the basis to adopt MC in heavy-ion treatment planning. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov K-S test further ascertained from a statistical point of view that the simulation data matched the experimentally measured data very well. The two-dimensional isodose contours at the entrance were compared to those around the peak position and in the tail region beyond the peak, showing that bone produces more dose, in comparison to both water and tissue, due to secondary doses. In the water, the results show that the maximum energy deposited per fragment is mainly attributed to secondary carbon ions, followed by secondary boron and beryllium. Furthermore, the number of protons produced is the highest, thus making the maximum contribution to the total dose deposition in the tail region. Finally, the associated spectra of neutrons and photons were analyzed. The mean neutron energy value was found to be 16.29 MeV, and 1.03 MeV for the secondary gamma. However, the neutron dose was found to be negligible as compared to the total dose due to their longer range.

This study describes the performance comparison to solve angle ambiguity needed to angle of arrival estimation in 2D radiometer. There are three algorithms to solve its ambiguity such as phase-comparison monopulse method, digital beam-forming method and least square error of the phase difference in 2D radar interferometer. To estimate two direction angles, phase-comparison monopulse method is sequentially applied to azimuth and elevation direction. To analyze the performance of these methods, probability of solving angle ambiguity and execution time have been chosen as performance indexes. Through the Monte Carlo simulation, we have verified that phase-comparison monopulse method is most effective in real-time signal processing application.

It is difficult for a MWR(Missile Warning Radar) to perform a threat decision accurately since there is no tracking part which gives more accurate threat information to the MWR. In this paper, the threat decision algorithm is proposed using an azimuth angular rate to improve the accuracy. The azimuth angular rate is dependent upon the direction of an approaching target. The target is classified into a threat or non-threat using a boundary condition of the azimuth angular rate. The boundary condition is determined using the Monte-Carlo simulation. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated using this condition at field tests of MWR. The efficiency of the proposed method for the threat decision is proved by comparing the results of field tests with the simulation results.
