  • Since the bus is regarded as the one of the most public transportation systems, research on the safety and facilities of the bus has been increased actively in recent years. In this paper, we concern the design of the bus door mechanism that is composed of many linkages and actuators(or motors). In particular, the folding door mechanism is representative system installed in most of urban buses. To design the folding door mechanism, we construct the kinematic and dynamic analysis model fur computer simulation. Also, the dynamic analysis is accomplished by both direct dynamics and inverse dynamics. Since the folding door mechanism has many design variables, the analysis program is developed to perceive kinematic and dynamic characteristics according to the design variables and simulation conditions.

Carbon Reduction Investments under Direct Shipment Strategy

  • Recently much research efforts have focused on how to manage carbon emissions in logistics operations. This paper formulates a model to determine an optimal shipment size with aims to minimize the total cost consisting not only of inventory and transportation costs but also cost for carbon emissions. Unlike the literature assuming carbon emission factors as a given condition, we consider the emission factors as decision variables. It is allowed to make an investment in improving carbon emission factors. The optimal investment decision is shown to be of a threshold type with respect to unit investment costs. Moreover, the findings in this work provide insights on the various elements of the investment decision and their impacts.

  • Fish is a major source of protein for the Senegalese population. Fishing plays a dominant role in the Government's policy towards generating employment. It currently generates about 100,000 direct jobs (fishermen) for nationals, of which more than 90% are in small-scale fishing. The fishing industry also contributes to Government revenue through different agreements. In addition to associated dues, fishing agreements imply a series of economic, trade and technical counterparts. Under the latest fishing agreement concluded by Senegal and the European Union (1997-2001), direct financial compensation amounts to about CFAF 32 billion. Despite its economic and social importance, the sector has to face serious disequilibria both in resource exploitation and market supply: the coastal demersal (deep lying fish) stocks with high market value (mostly exported) are fully and even over-exploited, with a serious risk of local market supply shortages looming ahead as the fishing effort shifts from locally consumed species to export-oriented ones.

Direct integration method for stochastic finite element analysis of nonlinear dynamic response

  • Stochastic response of systems to random excitation can be estimated by direct integration methods in the time domain such as the stochastic central difference method (SCDM). In this paper, the SCDM is applied to compute the variance and covariance in response of linear and nonlinear structures subjected to random excitation. The accuracy of the SCDM is assessed using two-DOF systems with both deterministic and random material properties excited by white noise. For the former case, closed-form solutions can be obtained. Numerical results also are presented for a simply supported geometrically nonlinear beam. The stiffness of this beam is modeled as a random field, and the beam is idealized by the stochastic finite element method. A perturbation technique is applied to formulate the equations of motion of the system, and the dynamic structural response statistics are obtained in a time domain analysis. The effect of variations in structural parameters and the numerical stability of the SCDM also are examined.

난류 파이프 유동 내 다섯 개의 영역 (Five layers in turbulent pipe flow)

  • Five layers in mean flow are proposed by using the direct numerical simulation data of turbulent pipe flow up to Reτ = 3008. Viscous sublayer, buffer layer, mesolayer, log layer and core region are investigated. In the buffer layer, the viscous force is counterbalanced by the turbulent inertia from the streamwise mean momentum balance, and a log law occurs here. The overlap layer is composed of the mesolayer and the log layer. Above the buffer layer, the non-negligible viscous force causes the power law, and this region is the mesolayer, where it is the lower part of the overlap layer. At the upper part of the overlap layer, where the viscous force itself becomes naturally negligible, the log layer will appear due to that the acceleration force of the large-scale motions increases as the Reynolds number increases. In the core region, the velocity-defect form is satisfied with the power-law scaling.

대존 세분화에 따른 내부 소존 간의 O-D 통행량 추정 방법 (Estimating O-D Trips Between Sub-divided Smaller Zones Within a Traffic Analysis Zone)

  • 한국교통연구원은 수도권 및 광역권의 기종점 자료를 읍면동 행정단위로 교통존을 세분화하여 배포하고 있으며, 지방부는 자료의 한계로 시군구 행정단위로 교통존을 구축하여 배포하고 있다. 도로 및 철도사업에서 사업 주변 지역에 정교한 통행 패턴을 분석하기 위해서 특정 교통존을 더욱 잘게 나누어 세분화된 교통존을 구축하는 과정이 필요한 경우가 있다. 본 연구는 시군구 행정단위의 지방부 교통존에서 읍면동 행정단위로 세분화된 교통존의 O-D 통행량을 추정하는 방법론을 제시하였다. 수도권 및 광역권의 공간적인 내부 통행 분포 패턴을 토대로 교통존의 인구 밀도를 저, 중, 고밀도 그룹으로 분류하고 그룹별 직접수요모형과 중력모형의 계수 값을 정산하였다. 그리고 회귀분석을 수행하여 내부 통행 분포 패턴을 잘 설명하는 모형을 최종적으로 선별하고 정산된 모형을 지방부에 적용하여 내부 교통존을 세분화한 교통존 간 통행량을 추정하였다. 분석 결과, power function을 저항함수로 정산한 중력모형의 수정된 $R^2$가 인구 저밀도 그룹에서는 0.7426, 중밀도 그룹에서는 0.6456, 고밀도 그룹에서는 0.7194로 산출되었으며 본 모형이 교통존 내부의 세부존 간의 통행 패턴을 우수하게 설명하는 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 본 연구에서는 강원도 인제군에 정산된 모형을 적용하여 세부존 간 통행량을 산출하는 예시를 제시하였다. 본 연구에서 제시한 세분화 교통존의 O-D 통행량 추정 방법론을 이용할 경우, 세분화된 교통존 간 통행량을 구축하여 통행 패턴을 좀 더 체계적이고 정교하게 분석할 수 있을 것이다.

교통안전을 고려한 도시부도로의 돌발상황 교통관리전략 수립에 관한 연구 (Development of Traffic Management Strategies for Incident Conditions on Urban Highways Considering Traffic Safety)

  • PURPOSES : This study aims to investigate the direct and indirect influence areas from incidents on urban interrupted roadways and to develop traffic management strategies for each influence area. METHODS : Based on a literature review, various traffic management strategies for certain incidents were collected. In addition, the relationship between the measure of effectiveness and the characteristics of incidents was explored using an extensive simulation study. RESULTS : From the simulation studies, traffic delays increased as the number of lane closures increased, and the impact of lane closures was reduced to the direction upstream from the incident site. However, the magnitude of the delay change depended on the degree of saturation. Using these characteristics, the direct and indirect influence areas resulting from incidents were defined, and traffic management strategies were established for each direct and indirect influence area and for each level of incident. CONCLUSIONS: The results of this study will contribute to the improvement of national traffic safety by preventing secondary incidents and by effective adaptation to incident events.

ACTIVE DIRECT TILT CONTROL FOR STABILITY ENHANCEMENT OF A NARROW COMMUTER VEHICLE

  • Narrow commuter vehicles can address many congestion, parking and pollution issues associated with urban transportation. In making narrow vehicles safe, comfortable and acceptable to the public, active tilt control systems are likely to playa crucial role. This paper focuses on the development of an active direct tilt control system for a narrow vehicle that utilizes an actuator in the vehicle suspension. A simple PD controller can stabilize the tilt dynamics of the vehicle to any desired tilt angle. However, the challenges in the tilt control system design arise in determining the desired lean angle in real-time and in minimizing tilt actuator torque requirements. Minimizing torque requirements requires the tilting and turning of the vehicle to be synchronized as closely as possible. This paper explores two different control design approaches to meet these challenges. A Receding Horizon Controller (RHC) is first developed so as to systematically incorporate preview on road curvature and synchronize tilting with driver initiated turning. Second, a nonlinear control system that utilizes feedback linearization is developed and found to be effective in reducing torque. A close analysis of the complex feedback linearization controller provides insight into which terms are important for reducing actuator effort. This is used to reduce controller complexity and obtain a simple nonlinear controller that provides good performance.

Work Sampling을 이용한 병원급식의 작업분석과 생산성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Work Analysis and Productivity of Food Service in Hospitals using Work Sampling)

  • This study has made use of the work sampling for work analysis and productivity of food service institutions centering on 3 general hospitals of 400∼600 beds and centralized service system in Seoul. The results were as flollows; 1. In the mean work percent of dietitians: The indirect work functions marked the highest, as it was 22.0% for the direct work functions, 57.4% for the indirect work functions and 20.6% for the delays. Among the indirect work functions, the decreasing order was original clerical (38.1%), instruction or teaching (8.5%), conference or interview (8.5%), and appraisal (2.3%). 2. In the mean work percent of clerical personnels: The direct work functions (67.2%) marked the highest. Among those, routine clerical was 64.3%, and receiving was 2.8%. 3. In the mean work percent of workers: The direct work functions (77.4%) marked the highest. Among those, the decreasing order was service (24.7%), cooking (22.5%), cleaning (18.2%), and transportation (10.3%). 4. Work percent per labor hour: Dietitians usually continued to work even during the lunch time. In case of clerical personnel working in turn, work percent was high even during the lunch time, however in the other case, it was very low. It was shown that the workers had lunch and break time after every their service. 5. The number of meals served per labor hour were 6.3 meals, and labor time spent per served meal 9.8 minutes.
