  • The effects of dipping syrups prepared with isomaltooligosaccharides on the characteristics of Yackwa were investigated. The dipping syrups were prepared replacing sucrose with 0, 25 and 50% isomaltooligosaccharide. Physical and sensory characteristics of Yackwa were evaluated. Isomaltooligosaccharides increased dehydration rate and increased absorption rate of dipping syrups. Yackwas dipping in the syrup containing isomaltooligosaccharides were more acceptable than those with sucrose syrup. The acceptability was significantly correlated with shinness(p<.01), moistness(p<.05), adhesiveness(p<.05), cohesiveness(p<.01), roasted taste(p<.0l) and sweetness(p<.05). Therefore, isomaltooligosaccharides might be a good alternative for sucrose in making dipping syrup of Yackwa.

  • The effects of dipping syrups prepared with oligosaccharides on Yackwa were examined. The dipping syrups were prepared by replacing sucrose with 50% isomaltooligosaccharide or fructooligosaccharide, and the physical and sensory characteristics of Yackwa dipped in above syrups were evaluated. Addition of oligosaccharides to dipping syrups increased the reducing sugar contents, dehydration rate and absorption rate of Yackwa. The exterior color of Yackwa dipped in oligosaccharides-containing syrup was darker, more reddish and yellowish than control. Use of oligosaccharides in dipping syrup increased the darkness, gloss, moistness and sweetness, and decreased the roasted taste of Yackwa as perceived by panels. Yackwa dipped in the syrups replacing sucrose with 50% oligosaccharides showed better acceptability than control. The acceptability was positively correlated with the gloss and cohesiveness. Above results suggested that oligosaccharides are good alternatives for sucrose in making dipping syrup for Yackwa.

  • In order to evaluate and improve the performance of local exhaust ventilation systems for two TCE degreasing (A, B) and two electroplating (C, E) and one acid dipping & plating (D) operations located in Kimhae, the performance test was conducted with trace gases and a thermal anemometer (Kanomax 24-6111, Japan). For the inadequately designed systems, the improvement and redesigns in compliance with recommendation by ACGIH was suggested. The results of performance test for each system are as follows; 1. System of Workplace A was generally well-designed. Actual exhaust air flow rate was in excess of 68% above the recommended standard exhaust air flow rate. 2. System of Workplace B was very well-designed and completely enclosed. 3. All systems of Workplace C including hoods were poorly-designed and actual exhaust air flow rates were insufficient for open tanks. All systems should be upgraded according to ACGIH recommendations. 4. Supply and exhaust air flow rate of push-pull exhaust systems in Workplace D should be greatly increased. The width of flange of dipping tank hood should be increased with the value suggested. 5. System of Workplace E was well-designed. Actual exhaust air flow rate was in excess of 54% above the required.

  • Effects of BA treatment and cut planting methods on shooting and seedling characteristics were investigated to increase seedling products by cuttings of lacquer tree. Dipping on 1,000mg/L BA solution was better than dripping with same solution at 5 weeks after cut planting. As shooting rate was increased suddenly, it was 85% at 10 weeks after cut planting. Among 3 dripping treatments, interval was not effective on shooting rate. Dripping per 2 days with 100 ㎕ of 1,000 mg/L BA solution was most effective on seedling height and leaf number and than dipping was more effective than dripping per 5 and 7 days. Branch developed on near part from dripped scion. Shooting of horizontal planting was earlier about a week and rate was increased suddenly from 3 to 6 weeks, it was highest with 96% than others at 10 weeks after planting. Seedling of horizontal cut planting was tallest about 40cm and branch developed lower than vertical and oblique cut planting. In case of horizontal cut planting, 2-3 shoots were formed on different part of scion and than those were could divided to seedling, so horizontal cut planting was most effective to propagation of seedling than any others.

  • To develop Korean native lilies as mini-potted plants, the effects of plant growth retardants on inhibiting stem elongation and improving flowering rate were evaluated. Bulblets of Lilium concolor var. parthneion (5-7 g) and L. dauricum (3-4 g fresh wt) derived from in vitro culture and then enlarged by field culture were applied with 0, 25, 50, or $100mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ ancymidol, diniconazole, and uniconazole through bulb dipping, foliar spray, and drench. In L. concolor var. parthneion, uniconazole dipping most effectively reduced plant height by 60.7-78.3% depending on concentration compared with control without decreasing flowering percentage. In L. dauricum, dipping into diniconazole solution significantly retarded the plant height by 70.0-86.3% and improved flowering percentage by 8.3-18.2% compared to control of 0%. Drench of $25-50mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ ancymidol was also effective on inhibition of stem elongation and improvement of flowering rate. Therefore, dipping into $50-100mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ uniconazole solution in L. concolor var. parthneion and dipping into $25mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ diniconazole solutions or drench of $25mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ ancymidol in L. dauricum can be useful to produce the mini-potted plants.

  • Tungsten probe is the most important part of a probe card, which is widely used for the performance test of wafer chips. Electro chemical etching becomes an exclusive choice for mass production of the tungsten probes. In the mass production, not only the shape of the probe but also the shape distribution of machined probes is important. A new method is proposed for the mass production of the tungsten probes. Tungsten wires are separated by a distance, and dipped into electrolyte. The dipping rate is controlled to shape the probes. Several experimental tests are performed to study the machining characteristics. From the test results, machining parameters including electrical conditions and anode position showed significant influences on the shape, repeatability, precision and quality of sharp tips.

  • When using the dipping method for crystal formation, mono-layered colloidal crystal structures depend upon the lift-up rate of a glass substrate. The mono-layered colloidal crystals showed the highest quality when the glass substrate was raised at a rate of 3 mm/min at 25 $^{\circ}C$ in a 1 wt% polystyrene colloidal suspension (ethanol medium). In addition, in order to obtain multiple-layered colloidal crystals, an external electric Held was introduced. Multiple-layered colloidal crystals were successfully obtained via this method. The colloidal particles were well ordered over large areas and assembled into a homogeneous structure.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare with color reproducibility of the coating method and dipping method using a colour liquid. Methods: Two groups of square-shaped specimens ($10mm{\times}10mm$ in diameter, 1.5mm thickness) were prepared for analysis(n=15/group). The CM(Coating Method) group was fabricated as full zirconia specimens with the coating coloring method and Group DM(Dipping Method) was prepared as specimens of 0.7 mm-thick zirconia plate using the dipping coloring method and veneered with 0.8mm-thick porcelain. Color parameters were measured with ShadeEye $NCC^{(R)}$ spectrophotometer and color differences were calculated using the equation ${\Delta}E^*= \{({\Delta}L^*)^2+({\Delta}a^*)^2+({\Delta}b^*)^2\}^{1/2}$. Non-parametric statistical methods, the Mann-Whitney test, and the Kruskal-Wallis test were used to analyze the data. Type one error rate was set at 0.05. Results: Color difference values larger than 7 were observed between specimens with the coating method and the dipping method, which were detectable difference in a clinical setting. Conclusion: Cautious application of the coating coloring method in a clinical setting and further researches to standardize the coating method are needed.

  • Lightweight aggregate which is composed of sintered polycrystalline materials usually has a certain portion of pores inside of it. Because of such a structural characteristics, it tends to that movement of water in aggregate shows an abnormal behavior against the change of outside environment. In general, water movement behavior is controlled by porosity, distribution of pore size; however, dense surface layer will also affect water movement behavior in case of artificially sintered aggregates. Factors affecting water movement behavior in the aggregate are pore distribution, pore shape, pre-wetting method, etc. In this study, absorption characteristics of aggregate under the pressure and absorption rate according to water dipping time are analyzed for the basis of pressure pumping of lightweight concrete. Two kinds of aggregates were used for the test: one is made by 'L' company in Germany and the other is of our own made at the pilot plant in Kyonggi University. Absorption rate of aggregate is measured according to water dipping time, vacuum pressure, and quenching condition. Absorption rate of aggregate with $300^{\circ}C$ quenching is higher than that of aggregate with 24 hr water dipping. Generally the more vacuum the higher water absorption rate. Water absorption rate of 'L' aggregate under -300 mmHg is 54 % higher than that of aggregate with 24 hr water dipping; however, only 2 % increase in water absorption was measured for the K622 and K73 which were of our own.

  • Wear test on two die steels for aluminum die casting was carried out by dipping and rotating the specimens into the molten aluminum maintained $680^{\circ}C{\sim}780^{\circ}C$. The rotating speed of the specimen was $4.5rpm{\sim}20.0rpm$. Diffusion layer was formed between the die steel and molten aluminum, and became thicker with dipping time. Wear rate was not proportional with the thickness of the diffusion layer, but was closely related to the density of the diffusion layer. Wear rate was little affected by the kind of die steel and by the microstructure such as martensite, tempered martensite, and pearlite. Specimen with nitrided surface showed good wear resistance, and its wear rate was decreased with increase in the thickness of nitrided layer. While whole surface was worn in heat treated specimens, wear of nitrided specimens was proceeded by pitting partially.
