  • The purpose of this study is to develop a control software for daylight responsive dimming systems and automated roller shading systems. Developed software in this study is to used determinate sky conditions, calculation of solar profile angle, control height of roller shade, calculation of dimming level(%) for daylight responsive dimming systems.

  • Recently, energy depleting problem have risen seriously. Many studies of daylight responsive dimming system for saving of lighting energy in office buildings have been done actively. Most of studies are focused on the accuracy. However if the variation of dimming levels is changed too often, occupants would feel uncomfortable. First, illuminance changes which occupants couldn't detect are studied through analyzing foreign studies. Second, workplan illuminance from daylight in each sky condition is measured. Because the dimming level In daylight responsive dimming system is dependent on the workplan illuminance from daylight. In conclusion, the most appropriate polling periods to daylight responsive dimming system for occupant's visual comfort was determined.

  • This paper shows the structure of a control System for Fluorescent fin Dimming Ballasts. The control system is composed of phase angle controller, a transducer, many dimmable ballasts. For the implementation of the control system, We made a controller and the transducer that transform the phase angle controlled signal into the DC level. we used the conventional dimmable ballast In this ballast, dimming control is achieved by varying the switching frequency that is controlled by the external DC level. This has non-linear illumination characteristics as the dimming control. Therefore we compensate characteristics using the transducer proposed in this paper. We measured the illumination of two FL-28 lamps with dimming controller.

가시광통신에서 Dimming Level 향상 및 Flicker 감소를 위한 적응-학습 코드할당 기법 (Adaptive-learning Code Allocation Technique for Improving Dimming Level and Reducing Flicker in Visible Light Communication)

  • 본 논문에서는 가시광 통신시스템의 조명과 통신의 기능을 동시에 사용할 때, 조명의 Dimming Level 향상과 Flicker 현상을 줄일 수 있는 기법에 대해서 제안한다. 가시광 통신은 통신과 조명의 성능을 함께 만족해야 한다. 그러나 기존의 Data Code Mapping 방식은 전체 조명의 밝기를 감소시키는 결과를 나타낸다. 이는 조명의 성능 저하와 Flicker 현상을 유발한다. 이를 해결하기 위해, 본 논문에서는 전송 알파벳에 대해서 binary code 할당하고, 문자열에 알파벳의 발생 빈도율에 따라 할당된 binary code를 최적화하여 매칭 시키는 적응 학습형 코드 할당 기법을 제안하였다. 이를 통해, 각각의 문자열의 최대 Dimming level을 유지하면서 동시에 'OFF' 패턴이 연속적으로 발생하지 않도록 코드를 할당하여 통신 기능뿐만 아니라 조명으로써의 역할을 충실히 할 수 있는 기법에 대해서 연구하였다. 성능평가 결과, 전체 통신 성능에 큰 영향을 주지 않으면서, '1'의 발생 빈도가 유의미하게 증가하였고 반대로 연속적인 '0' 빈도율이 감소하여 시스템의 조명 성능이 크게 향상된 것을 보였다.

블라인드연동 LED조명의 조광제어에 따른 재실자의 밝기 변화 인식에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Perception of the Brightness Change according to Daylight Responsive LED Dimming Systems and Venetian Blind)

  • This study has attempted to investigate how subjects perceive changes of brightness and their visual comfort according to daylight responsive LED(Light Emitting Diode) dimming systems in the office with venetian blind. Two studies was conducted. First study is that how subjects perceive changes of brightness and their visual comfort depending on angle control method of the venetian blind while the workplane illuminance level is being maintained through daylight responsive LED dimming system. Second study is that how subjects perceive changes of brightness and their visual comfort depending on the amount of daylight penetrated into the building while the illuminance level is being maintained through daylight responsive LED dimming system. The results of this study could be proposed as basic data in the control of the venetian blind and LED lighting in consideration of their perception on changes of brightness and visual comfort.

선택적 충전방식 전하펌프를 사용한 LED 램프 조광구동 기술 (Driving Method for Dimming of LED Lamps using Selectively Charged Charge Pump)

  • A new LED lamp driving technology with a charge pump instead of a conventional DC-DC converter is proposed. The proposed driving technology is used to control the LED lamp with digital dimming. The power loss in the zener diodes is reduced because the charging process of the capacitors is selectively controlled according to the digital control signal. From the experimental results, when dimming four LED lamps simultaneously, the average driving circuit efficiency of 89% is obtained, regardless of the dimming level. White light with color temperature over a range of 2800~7200K was produced by dimming control of red, green, blue and amber LED lamps with the proposed driving circuit. The characteristics of the driving circuits can be changed depending on the characteristics of the R, G, B, and A LED lamps. The efficiency of the driving circuits up to a maximum 89% can also be obtained depending on the combination of LED lamps. The driving technology with digital dimming control for LED lamps proposed in this paper would be effective for obtaining high efficiency in LED driving circuits and remote control of LED lamps using digital communications.

알고리듬 변화에 따른 직/간접 조명시스템에 대한 디밍제어 효과분석 (Analysis on Dimming Control Effect by Algorithm Variation for Direct/Indirect Lighting in a Small Office)

  • This study examines the influence of control algorithms on dimming performance to determine appropriate control setting when direct/indirect lighting is controlled by a daylight dimming system. Computer simulation were performed for a small office with double skin envelope under various daylight conditions. A retractable fabric shading and Venetian blind were applied for internal and external envelopes under three CIE standard sky conditions. Unshielded and partially-shielded photosensors were used, and three control algorithms were applied for the sensors. In general, dimming level was too excessive due to the direct impact of light from lighting fixture to the photosensor. Providing insufficient lighting output, the unshielded photosensor completely failed to secure required illuminance under any daylight condition. When a partially-shielded photosensor was applied under clear sky, three setting points functioned effectively. Less sensitivity for the partially-shielded photosensor was effective to control the dimming system optimally with reasonable energy saving. However, the daylight dimming control system for direct/indirect lighting does not appear to be energy effective when photosensors without enough shielded area is installed on ceiling where light from fixtures reaches directly.

TRIAC 디밍제어방식을 적용한 실내 LED 조명기기의 전도성 잡음 저감에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Reduction of Conducted Noise Emission from an Interior LED Lighting Module with TRIAC Dimming Control)

  • This paper analyzes the noise sources of an LED lighting module with TRIAC dimming control and proposes an improved EMI filter design for the reduction of conducted noise emission. TRIAC dimming invokes problems of input oscillation and capacitor overvoltage at the lighting module. The proposed double LC filter reduces high noise level from the circuit. The experimental and simulation results show that this approach can make significant contributions to the reduction of conducted noise emission from an LED lighting module with TRIAC dimming control.

  • In this paper, the dimmable electronic ballast for the 250W metal halide lamp was realized by three stage structure. We developed stable the dimming ballast by using a Micro-controller, and measured the output wattage in the dimming range(illumination) from 100% to about 20%. Under the 35% dimming level, it is possible to cause the redution of lamp's life. The dimming performance can reduce the light system's wattage but can reduce the luminance efficiency (lux/watt).

가시광통신에서 플리커 완화 및 BER 성능 향상을 위한 코딩 기법에 대한 연구 (A Study on Coding Techniques for Flicker Reduction and BER Performance Improvement in Visible Light Communication)

  • 본 논문에서는 가시광 통신시스템에서 플리커 완화 및 BER 성능 향상을 위한 코딩 기법에 관해서 연구하였다. 가시광 통신의 전송 속도를 높이기 위해 다수의 LED를 사용하는 멀티전송 다중 LED 전송시스템이 활발히 연구되고 있다. 그러나 N개의 LED를 사용하는 다중 LED 가시광 통신시스템에서 N개의 LED를 통해 데이터를 전송할 때, 데이터 시퀀스에 따라 동시에 0이 전송되는 연집 Zero 구간이 발생하고, 또한 1의 전송 구간이 서로 다르기 때문에 플리커 현상과 Dimming level의 변화로 인한 조명 성능 저하 현상이 발생하게 된다. 가시광 통신시스템은 통신 및 조명 기능을 동시에 수행하는 통신시스템이다. 따라서 통신의 전송 효율과 조명의 밝기를 동시에 고려되어야 한다. 우리는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 각각의 LED 데이터 시퀀스의 코딩 맵핑을 통해 플리커 현상과 Dimming level 문제를 완화하고 에러 검출 및 BER 성능을 향상시킬 수 있는 플리커 완화 기법을 제안하였다.
