An OFDMA(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) includes a MIMO(Multi-Input Multi-Output) scheme for improving spectral efficiency and data throughput. Recognizing that the performance of MIMO system is heavily dependent upon the accuracy of channel estimation, we propose a novel channel estimation for the MIMO scheme based on OFDMA. Conventional interpolation-based channel estimation suffers from poor estimation error at specific subcarriers. Proposed scheme makes use of a planar interpolation instead of linear interpolation for those subcarriers of bad accuracy. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme improves the performance of MIMO system by improving the accuracy in channel estimation especially for the adverse subcarrier positions. It is observed that the proposed scheme outperforms the conventional method by about 2dB in terms of both mean squared error and overall bit error rate with a reasonable computational complexity.

Any relative deformation between the cutting tool and the workpiece at machining point results directly in geometric and dimensional errors. The sources of relative deformations between the cutting tool and the workpiece at the contact point may be due to vibration, thermal deformation and cutting forces. In this paper, geometric error prediction of workpiece in turning has been investigated. To reach this goal, turning experiments are carried out according to selected cutting conditions. The variable cutting conditions are cutting speed, depth of cut and feed rate. The results will be useful as a guidance to select cutting conditions to improve the geometrical accuracy.

In this paper, we propose a decoding scheme that can apply to a three dimensional turbo product code(TPC) with a single parity check code(SPC). In general, SPC is used an axis with shortest code length in order to maximize a code rate of the TPC. However, SPC does not have any error correcting capability, therefore, the error correcting capability of the three-dimensional TPC results in little improvement in comparison with the two-dimensional TPC. We propose two schemes to improve performance of three dimensional TPC decoder. One is $min^*$-sum algorithm that has advantages for low complexity implementation compared to Chase-Pyndiah algorithm. The other is a modified serial iterative decoding scheme for high performance. In addition, the simulation results for the proposed scheme are shown and compared with the conventional scheme. Finally, we introduce some practical considerations for hardware implementation.
Statement of problem: Major objective in making on implant-supported prosthesis is the production of superstructure that exhibits a passive fit when connected to multiple abutments. One requirement to ensure passive fit is to make an accurate impression. Purpose : The purpose of this study was to compare the accuracy of master cast fabricated by using different impression methods at the different impression levels. Material and method: The master model used in this study was resin block having low implant analogs. Impression method studied were 1) direct method on fxiture level (Group FIX-D), 2) indirect method on fixture level(Group FIX-I), 3) modified indirect method on fixture level(Group FIX-M), 4) direct method on abutment level(Group AB-D) and 5) indirect method on abutment level(Group AB-I). Each of the five groups took 10 impressions. Fifty impressions were made for master cast by using Impregum $F^{(R)}$ impression material loaded on individual tray. Three dimensional measuring microscope was used to measure the inter-implant distance. Error rate of each inter-implant distance were calculated and evaluated. Results : The results were as follows. 1. Group FIX exhibited higher accuracy than group AB. 2. In group FIX, modified indirect method showed the highest accuracy, while indirect method showed the lowest accuracy. In group Ab, indirect method showed the higher accuracy than direct method. 3. Group FIX showed larger horizontal error than group AB. But, group AB showed the larger vertical error than group FIX. 4. Group Fix-M showed smallest vertical and horizontal error. Conclusion: An impression method have more effect on accuracy of master model than an impression level. A modified indirect method showed smallest vertical and horizontal error.
Sky simulator is a effective daylighting design tool that can evaluate three dimensional performance of lighting. Especially, the dome type sky simulator offer reliable and reproducible daylighting performance with different standard sky models. Recently, K university has developed the dome type sky simulator(sky dome) with the diameter of 6.5m and the height of 3.7m. The sky dome consists of a group of 145 large steel panels with 72 halogen lamps which are arranged in a circular array. The luminance distribution of the sky dome can be calibrated by changing the angle and the brightness of the lamps respectively. To allow more reliable prediction and evaluation of daylighting through the sky dome, It is essential to validate the sky luminance distribution of the sky dome. This study consider the validation of the comparisons between the measured and the calculated luminance values for the CIE standard overcast sky. Also, the error rate between the measured and the calculated luminance values were compared to the previous studies. The results indicated that the K university sky dome can reproduce reliable CIE standard overcast sky with the average relative error rate of 4.4% and root-mean-square error(RMSE) of 5.4%.
Soot particles emitted from combustion processes are often coated by non-absorbing organic materials, which enhance the global warming effect of soot particles. It is of importance to study the condensation characteristics of soot particles experimentally and theoretically to reduce the uncertainty of the climate impact of soot particles. In this study, the condensational growth of soot particles in a tubular coater was modeled by a one-dimensional (1D) plug flow model and a two-dimensional (2D) laminar flow model. The effects of 2D heat and mass transports on the predicted particle growth were investigated. The temperature and coating material vapor concentration distributions in radial direction, which the 1D model could not accounted for, affected substantially the particle growth in the coater. Under the simulated conditions, the differences between the temperatures and vapor concentrations near the wall and at the tube center were large. The neglect of these variations by the 1D model resulted in a large error in modeling the mass transfer and aerosol dynamics occurring in the coater. The 1D model predicted the average temperature and vapor concentration quite accurately but overestimated the average diameter of the growing particles considerably. At the outermost grid, at which condensation begins earliest due to the lowest temperature and saturation vapor concentration, condensing vapor was exhausted rapidly because of the competition between condensations on the wall and on the particle surface, decreasing the growth rate. At the center of the tube, on the other hand, the growth rate was low due to high temperature and saturation vapor concentration. The effects of Brownian diffusion and thermophoresis were not high enough to transport the coating material vapor quickly from the tube center to the wall. The 1D model based on perfect radial mixing could not take into account this phenomenon, resulting in a much higher growth rate than what the 2D model predicted. The result of this study indicates that contrary to a previous report for a thermodenuder, 2D heat and mass transports must be taken into account to model accurately the condensational particle growth in a coater.
We propose a novel post-processing algorithm and its very-large-scale integration architecture that simultaneously uses the passive and active stereo vision information to improve the reliability of the three-dimensional disparity in a hybrid stereo vision system. The proposed architecture consists of four steps - left-right consistency checking, semi-2D hole filling, a tiny adaptive variance checking, and a 2D weighted median filter. The experimental results show that the error rate of the proposed algorithm (5.77%) is less than that of a raw disparity (10.12%) for a real-world camera image having a $1,280{\times}720$ resolution and maximum disparity of 256. Moreover, for the famous Middlebury stereo image sets, the proposed algorithm's error rate (8.30%) is also less than that of the raw disparity (13.7%). The proposed architecture is implemented on a single commercial field-programmable gate array using only 13.01% of slice resources, which achieves a rate of 60 fps for $1,280{\times}720$ stereo images with a disparity range of 256.
This paper focuses on the study of the face authentication system and the robustness of fact authentication methods under illumination changes. Four different face authentication methods are tried. These methods are as fellows; PCA(Principal Component Analysis), GMM(Gaussian Mixture Modeis), 1D HMM(1 Dimensional Hidden Markov Models), Pseudo 2D HMM(Pseudo 2 Dimensional Hidden Markov Models). Experiment results involving an artificial illumination change to fate images are compared with each other. Face feature vector extraction based on the 2D DCT(2 Dimensional Discrete Cosine Transform) if used. Experiments to evaluate the above four different fate authentication methods are carried out on the ORL(Olivetti Research Laboratory) face database. Experiment results show the EER(Equal Error Rate) performance degrade in ail occasions for the varying ${\delta}$. For the non illumination changes, Pseudo 2D HMM is $2.54{\%}$,1D HMM is $3.18{\%}$, PCA is $11.7{\%}$, GMM is $13.38{\%}$. The 1D HMM have the bettor performance than PCA where there is no illumination changes. But the 1D HMM have worse performance than PCA where there is large illumination changes(${\delta}{\geq}40$). For the Pseudo 2D HMM, The best EER performance is observed regardless of the illumination changes.

The Surface, generated by end milling operation, is deteriorated by tool runout, vibration, friction, tool deflection, etc. Especially in cornering cut, surface accuracy is usually determined by varying cutting forces, which causes tool deflections. Cutting conditions like feed rate is usually kept constant during machining a part, which causes dimensional error in severe cutting. Cornering cut is a typical example of deterioration of surface accuracy when constant feed rate is applied. Therefore it becomes important to develop NC post processor module to determine optimal cutting conditions in various cutting situations. In this paper, cutting force is predicted in cornering cut with flat end mill and feed rate is determined by constraining constantly resultant force. Also some control characteristics of CNC machining center are evaluated.
In this study, we analyzed the three dimensional unsteady flow field around the motor cooling fan using the unsteady lifting surface theory. We obtained the flow rate for various geometries of fan from the calculated results of velocity field. For the data of design parameter and rotating speed(rpm) of the fan, we can predict the flow rate of the motor cooling fan with thin thickness through numerical analysis without the experimental data of the free stream velocity which is a boundary condition of flow field. the numerical results showed the flow rate within 10% of error in comparison with experimental results. The radial fans, which are often used as internal motor fan were also investigated with the same procedure.
