This paper presents an emergency brushless synchronous generator having rotating exciter status monitoring and protection functions. For monitoring the rotating exciter status, a wireless rotor status detector and a digital AVR(Automatic Voltage Regulator), which has a wireless communication capability, are proposed. The proposed rotor status detector detects temperatures of exciter armature and main field windings and input voltage and current of the main field. Therefore, it is possible to protect the generator from the over-temperature of windings and detect the exciter bridge diode fault. Furthermore, the proposed digital AVR has rotor status monitoring and protection function, and remote generator tuning, wireless group parallel operation function. So the operator can efficiently operate the generator using a smartphone from a remote area.

In this paper we propose and implement a digital part of a receiver system for identifying a moving object and its tracking position in wireless environment. We assumed UWB(Ultra Wide Band)-based communication system for target application and used serial communication method(RS-232). The proposed digital receiver consists of RS-232-type1/RS-232-type2 for input and output of serial communication, ID Detector for detecting IDs, and PISO&Buffer circuit to buffer input signals for appropriate operation of ID Detector. We implemented the digital receiver with minimal hardware(H/W) resource according to target application of UWB-based communication system. So it correlates input patterns with pre-stored patterns though repeated detecting method for multiple IDs. Since it has reference panerns in the Ve-stored form, it can detect various IDs instantly. Also we can program content and size of reference patterns considering compatibility with other systems .The implemented H/W was mapped into XC2S100PQ208-5 FPGA of Xilinx, occupied 727($30\%$) cells, and stably operated in the clock frequency of 75MHz(13.341ns).

Man-In-Simulant Test(MIST) provides a test method to evaluate chemical protective equipments such as protective garments, gloves, footwear and gas mask. The MIST chamber is built to control concentration of chemical vapor that has a activity space for two persons. Non-toxic methyl-salicylate(MeS) is used to simulate chemical agent vapor. We carried out to measure inward leakage MeS vapors by using passive adsorbent dosimeter(PAD) which are placed on the skin at specific locations of the body while man is activity according to the standard procedure in MIST chamber. But more time is required for PADs and there is concern of contamination in PADs by recovering after experiment. Therefore detector for measuring in real time is necessary. In order to analyze in real time the contamination of the personal protective equipment inside the chemical environment, we have developed a wireless real-time gas detector. The detector consists of 8 gas-sensors and 1 control-board. The control-board includes a CPU for processing a signal, a power supply unit for biasing the sensor and Bluetooth-chipset for transmission of signals to external PC. All signals from gas-sensors are converted into digital signals simultaneously in the control-board. These digital signals are stored in external PC via Bluetooth wireless communication. The experiment is performed by using protective equipment worn on manikin. The detector is mounted inside protective equipment which is capable of providing a real-time monitoring inward leakage MeS vapor. Developed detector is demonstrated the feasibility as real-time detector for MIST.

In this paper, a digital potentiometer is used as a load resistor of a wireless optical differential detector with a polarizer, to improve the noise reduction capability. In this structure, the noise voltages of the two photodiodes are made equal by controlling a digital potentiometer and the optical noise is cancelled out. With a digital potentiometer, the signal to noise ratio is enhanced by about 23 dB.
Recently the development of portable digital wireless imaging system, which acquires digital radiation images by using wireless LAN telecommunications function in an easy and fast way, provides lots of convenience for people. Considering the characteristics of portable imaging tests on emergency and critical patients, this study aims to suggest guidelines for Digital wireless detector by evaluating the effect of de-centering of focus-grid and displacement of subject in detector on the quality of image. The equipments used for this study were Elmo-T6 Digital Mobile X-ray system (SIMAZU Corp.), el' Tor ($14{\times}17$ "Wireless detector), Grid (10:1) and Chest & head phantom. After acquiring post-processing image according to dose increase and de-centering image of grid-focus and head phantom displacement image, this study compared, analyzed and evaluated these images by using a digital image analysis program by Image J. In the change of images based on dose increase, images were rough in the dose of 0.5 mAs, while there was no difference among images in the proper dose of 1~2 mAs and, especially from 2.5 mAs, average value of pixels radically decreased, affecting contrast. Over 3 mAs, contrast dropped due to saturation phenomenon of lungs. As the result of analysis using Image J program, with the increase of displacement between focus-grid and head phantom, the frequency of low pixel value also increase, causing the outline of surface image to disappear, which in turn affects contrast. For better quality imaging, a radiographer must be aware before the time of test that the image quality can be changed based on the critical patient's posture, movement, respiration, displacement of X-ray tube and distance of imaging.

In this paper, an angle diversity wireless optical detector is realized that can receive the optical signal at an angle from 0 to 360 degrees. Eight photodiodes constitute an angle diversity receiver, and in order to reduce the voltage variation with the incident angle, the optical detector is stabilized with a digital potentiometer. In a stabilized state, the voltage variation is kept within 1/10 of maximum voltage. This configuration is very useful in constructing an omni-directional receiver in a wireless optical interconnection.
The purpose of this study was to apply the signal pattern recognition technique to the digital wireless fire-alarm system and to reduce unwanted fire alarms. In this study, the fire alarms of the K Institute, which operates the largest digital wireless fire-alarm system in Korea, were classified into normal operations and unwanted fire alarms, and these were analyzed and compared with actual fire signals. In addition, by designing a non-fire signal filter and applying it to the K Institute, we confirmed that the monthly unwanted fire alarm rate of all 5,713 detectors decreased sharply. In particular, the unwanted fire alarm rate for flame decreased from 1.09% to 0.11% and the unwanted fire alarm rate for smoke decreased from 0.65% to 0.035%.

This paper presents a fast received signal strength indicator (RSSI) circuit for wireless communication application. The proposed circuit is developed using power detectors and an analog-to-digital converter to achieve a fast settling time. The power detector is consisted of a novel logarithmic variable gain amplifier (VGA), a peak detector, and a comparator in a closed loop. The VGA achieved a wide logarithmic gain range in a closed loop form for stable operation. For the peak detector, a fast settling time and small ripple are obtained using the orthogonal characteristics of quadrature signals. In $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS process, the RSSI value settles down in $20{\mu}s$ with power consumption of 20 mW, and the maximum ripple of the RSSI is 30 mV. The proposed RSSI circuit is fabricated with a personal handy-phone system transceiver. The active area is $0.8{\times}0.2\;mm^2$.

In this paper, the output voltage of a photodetector is stabilized using a digital potentiometer, to reduce the voltage variation when the detector position deviates from the center of the signal beam. The capture distance is calculated, and stabilization performance is observed through experiments. This scheme is very useful to reduce the output voltage variations due to the small change of the optical signal power, beam direction, and the detector position.

This paper presents a simulation model of the Quadrature detector to demodulate FSK signal, which is widely used in wireless paging system for its simple hardware implementation and economics of It fabrication. Quadrature detecter has nonlinear phase characteristic for changes linear changes of input signal frequency. So until now Quadrature detector system analysis remained a difficult problem and performance analysis has not been carried out adequately On these backgrounds, this paper presents the FSK signal demodulation process using Quadrature detector and optimal performance derived from digital simulation technique. First, PSN(Phase Shift Network) which is composed of analog RLC tank circuit is transformed into its equivalent digital transfer function using First-order-hold theorem. Though the demodulated outputs of the Quadrature detector for 4FSK are 4-level signals, only 2 comparators are used and it is shown that optimal performance can be obtained by choosing operation parameter Q value and threshold level decision which are proposed herein.
