  • Recently the necessity of MMIC is increasing because clock frequency goes up by digital data transmission of Gbps class being demanded and the density of circuits gets high for the purpose of lightening and miniaturizing system, owing to the development of ultra high speed. When massing lines in a MMIC and super high speed integrated circuit cause the crosstalk and dispersion of signal, a digital signal is distorted and EMI is occurred. To solve this problems, It is necessary to analyze the equivalent parameters of transmission lines. This paper represent the results of the equivalent parameters of transmission lines for single and hi-level structure by using moment method.

  • Most of the current traffic signal controller use load switches to transmit high voltage power to the signal lamps. The direct transmission of high voltage power may cause a lot of problems like leakages of electric power, obstructions of pedestrian, environmental disfigurements. To overcome these problems, the development of digital type signal controller has been trying in the various methods. Digital communication between a master controller and signal lamps is the most important part to improve control performance in the digital type controller. A communication system for the digital signal controller was developed in this study. The system bases on CAN specification, includes ID structure for most peripheral devices like loops, signal lamps, push buttons, police switches. The operability of this system verified with a software based CAN simulation tool.

  • In this paper, we describe the design of a small size data acquisition system with STM32 processor based on Cortex-M4. The system is used for the sensor devices to collect raw data on production lines at factory and send them to the server computer in real time. Also the system is designed to easily acquisite various kinds of data collected from various sensors with the digital signal input unit, the analog signal input unit, the digital signal output unit and the analog signal output unit This small data acquisition system will contribute to the improvement of the quality of precision products in the industrial field by collecting various data in real time and transmitting data at high speed.

  • This paper presents the information transmission between on-board and ground-site in MAGLEV. considering safety and high speed operation and density operation, information transmission between them is necessary. Therefore it is necessary for transmission system to ensure high speed transmission, low error rate, massive information, and reliability of information. To provide above conditions, 1.1km signal line assembly was constructed and Frequency Shift Keying(FSK) modulation and Open System Interconnection(OSI) based high-level data link control(HDLC) protocol are applied. To modulate digital signal for transmission from ground-site to on-board, carrier frequency of 70kHz is used and 90khz is used for transmission from on-board to ground-site. Transmission speed is 2400bps for consideration of train speed, quantity of information, and data error rate. And this paper introduces information monitoring considering user interface and presents the method for an effective data transmission in MAGLEV which is now being tested and intends to provide for an intelligent train operation system in future.

  • This paper describes the design of echo cancslling method(ECM) for transmission with full-duplex which ie transmitted on "2B+D"(144kbps)data through two-wire loop plants. The design objective is 40dB attenuation with a signal-to-noise ratio of $10{\sim}20dB$. Since the transhybrid loos can be as low as $6{\sim}10dB$, the required attenuation of the echo signal is on the order of $50{\sim}55dB$. The used algorithms based on the sign algorithm, and have been improved by using adoptive reference voltage level algorithm.

Investigating the Effects of Hearing Loss and Hearing Aid Digital Delay on Sound-Induced Flash Illusion

  • Background and Objectives: The integration of auditory-visual speech information improves speech perception; however, if the auditory system input is disrupted due to hearing loss, auditory and visual inputs cannot be fully integrated. Additionally, temporal coincidence of auditory and visual input is a significantly important factor in integrating the input of these two senses. Time delayed acoustic pathway caused by the signal passing through digital signal processing. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effects of hearing loss and hearing aid digital delay circuit on sound-induced flash illusion. Subjects and Methods: A total of 13 adults with normal hearing, 13 with mild to moderate hearing loss, and 13 with moderate to severe hearing loss were enrolled in this study. Subsequently, the sound-induced flash illusion test was conducted, and the results were analyzed. Results: The results showed that hearing aid digital delay and hearing loss had no detrimental effect on sound-induced flash illusion. Conclusions: Transmission velocity and neural transduction rate of the auditory inputs decreased in patients with hearing loss. Hence, the integrating auditory and visual sensory cannot be combined completely. Although the transmission rate of the auditory sense input was approximately normal when the hearing aid was prescribed. Thus, it can be concluded that the processing delay in the hearing aid circuit is insufficient to disrupt the integration of auditory and visual information.

  • Most conventional protection relays are based on processing information in the spectrum that is close to or at power frequency. It is, however, widely known that faults on transmission lines produce frequency components of a wide range In this respect, this paper describes the basis of a Protection technique for transmission lines which utilises high-frequency components. Fault-generated signals caused by post-fault and the signal derived from stack tuner is connected to the coupling capacitor of CVT. Digital signal processing is then applied to the captured information to determine whether the fault is inside or outside the Protected zone, and to discriminate the fault type on transmission line.

  • As the digital control technologies in automotive industry have advanced, electronic control units(ECUs) play a key-role to improve system performance. Transmission control unit(TCU) is a shifting controller for automatic transmission of which major functions are to determine the shift and manage the shifting process considering the various sensor signal on transmission and driver's commands. As with any ECU in vehicle, TCU performs complex algorithms such as shift control, diagnostic and failsafe functions. However, firmware design analysis is hardly possible by the reverse engineering due to code protection. Transmission simulator is a hardware-in-the-loop simulator which enables TCU to work in normal mode by simulating the electrical signal of TCU interface. In this research, diagnosis and failsafe algorithm implemented on commercialized TCU is analyzed by using the transmission simulator that is developed for wheel loader construction vehicle. This paper gives various experimental results on the proportional solenoid current trajectories for different operating modes, error detection criterion and limphome mode gears for all the possible cases of clutch malfunction. The derived results for conventional TCU can be applied to the development of inherent TCU algorithms and the transmission simulator can also be utilized for the test of TCU to be developed.

  • This paper analyzed the transmission performance when we transmited digital TV signal through analog CATV network. We considered random noise, microreflection, and composite tripple beats as channel impairment factors, and random noise and CTB( Composite Tripple Beat) are modelled as Gaussian distribution and Weibull distribution respectively. Channel modellings for microreflections are classified as three cases, and we exploited carrier recovery and blind equalizer to minimize their effects. We developed a computer simulator for the digital transmission system using DVB-C specification to analyze digital transmission performance, and found BER values according to $E_{b}$/$N_{o}$ for each configuration.

  • A signal path control switch has been designed and implemented with AT&T 0.5${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS ORCA FPGA. This device controls the path of digital signals in SDH-based transmission system. The proposed switch is suitable for self-healing operation which protects against transmission network failure. The self-healing operation of the switch is effectively done by the reconfigurable information stored in the registers of the switch. This device consists of eight subparts such west-east transmitting parts, west-east receiving parts, add-drop control parts, AIS control Part, and CPU interface part. The device is capable to a ring network as well as a linear network.
