Broadband Optical Transmitter using Feedforward Compensation Circuit (피드포워드 보상회로를 이용한 광대역 광송신기)

  • Linearity is the one of the most important features for analog-optic transmission system. In our research, the available bandwidth for the feed-forward compensation circuit is enhanced by using a 180 hybrid coupler in the circuit. The bandwidth having the decreased 3rd-order intermodulation distortion(IMD3) over 10 dB is extended over 200 MHz with the center frequency of 1.6 GHz. We performed an efficient bandwith measurement for the feed-forward compensation system, which uses the network analyzer instead of the traditional measuring system that uses two RF signal generators and the spectrum analyzer. We identify the usefulness of this method from experimental results. In this study, we used cheap digital-purpose laser diodes for economical aspect, which proves the efficiency of the proposed analog system. The spurious-free dynamic range is improved about 6 dB/Hz.

Side Information Transmission using Reference Symbol in PTS Scheme (PTS 방식에서 기준 심볼을 이용한 부가정보 전송)

  • Partial transmit sequence(PTS) scheme has been widely studied to reduce the peak-to-average power ratio(PAPR) of Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing(OFDM) signal since it is flexible ad any spectral regrowth is not made. A necessity of the PTS scheme is to transmit the side information about the phase rotation factors for correct OFDM symbol recovery. In this paper, a new side information embedded PTS scheme using the reference symbols is proposed fur the PAPR reduction and the BER(bit error rate) performance is analyzed when the erroneous side information is received. In this proposed method, the information about the rotation factors is expressed by the phase of reference symbols. The proposed method maintains the same PAPR reduction performance as the conventional PTS scheme and OFDM symbols are correctly recovered by the side information to meet the required BER level, which is verified via the computer simulation. Also, it is shown that the proposed method can be easily realized and can be used for all kinds of digital modulation formats in the OFDM communication system.

Verification of Automatic PAR Control System using DEVS Formalism (DEVS 형식론을 이용한 공항 PAR 관제 시스템 자동화 방안 검증)

  • This paper proposes automatic precision approach radar (PAR) control system using digital signal to increase the safety of aircraft, and discrete event systems specification (DEVS) methodology is utilized to verify the proposed system. Traditionally, a landing aircraft is controlled by the human voice of a final approach controller. However, the voice information can be missed during transmission, and pilots may also act improperly because of incorrectness of auditory signals. The proposed system enables the stable operation of the aircraft, regardless of the pilot's capability. Communicating DEVS (C-DEVS) is used to analyze and verify the behavior of the proposed system. A composed C-DEVS atomic model has overall composed discrete state sets of models, and the state sequence acquired through full state search is utilized to verify the safeness and the liveness of a system behavior. The C-DEVS model of the proposed system shows the same behavior with the traditional PAR control system.

  • Ultra Wideband(UWB) technologies have been developed to exploit a new spectrum resource in substances and to realize ultra-high-speed communication, high precision geolocation, and other applications. The energy of UWB signal is extremely spread from near DC to a few GHz. This means that the interference between conventional narrowband systems and UWB systems is inevitable. However, the interference effects had not previously been studied from UWB wireless systems to conventional mobile wireless systems sharing the frequency bands such as Korean Cellular CDMA and WCDMA. This paper experimentally evaluates the interference from two kinds of UWB sources, namely a direct-sequence spread-spectrum CDMA(DS-CDMA) UWB source and an impulse radio UWB source, to a Cellular CDMA and WCDMA digital transmission system. The average frame error rate degradation of each system are presented. From these experimental results, the interference effects of DS-CDMA UWB source is not severe compared to the Impulse UWB.

Design of QAPM Modulation for Low Power Short Range Communication and Application of Compressive Sensing (저전력 근거리 통신을 위한 QAPM 변조의 설계와 압축 센싱의 적용)

  • In this paper, we propose a QAPM(Quadrature Amplitude Position Modulation) modulation using compressive sensing for the purpose of power efficiency improvement. QAPM modulation is a combination technique of QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) and PPM(Pulse Position Modulation). Therefore it can decrease the transmission power and improve BER performance. Moreover, even if the band width is widened when the number of positions is increased, high sparsity characteristic caused by position number can be applied to compressive sensing technique. Compressive sensing has recently studied as a method that can be successfully reconstructed from the small number of measurements for sparse signal. Therefore, the proposed system can lower price of receiver by reducing sampling rate and has performance improved by using QAPM modulation. And the results are confirmed through simulations.

  • LED(Light Emitting Diode) is an emitting device which energy is same to the bandgap of p-type and n-type semiconductor junction. Recently high brightness LED is used in fish-luring light and traffic signal light alternative of normal light bulb, and widely used in the area of display pannel. Moreover nowadays LED has been used as a back light of LCD display. Recently, visible light communication(VLC) using LED, that allow two-way serial data communication between LEDs over a distance of sveral centimeters or meters, has been widely studied in the area of digital information transmission along with illumination and display. In this paper, we present LED communication system and their applications.

Phase noise spectrum distribution design of remote controller using BPSK mode (BPSK 모드를 사용하는 원격제어 장치의 위상잡음 스펙트럼 분포 설계)

  • The phase noise spectrum distribution for remote controller using the BPSK mode and low data rate of 50 kbps was designed and proposed in this paper. In case of applying the BPSK that transmission performance is superior to FSK method, the performance degradations due to phase noise are generated. To minimize the phase noise effect, it is important to dispatch the digital signal in channel environment with required phase noise characteristics. To provide the terminal design technique and the proper channel environment with required phase noise characteristics, the phase noise spectrum distribution was designed for required phase noise characteristics. By analyzing the phase noise effects for damping factor and noise bandwidth of the carrier recovery circuit, the phase noise spectrum design that consider the damping factor and noise bandwidth was performed. Based on the IESS-308 standards, also, the phase noise effects was analyzed. The phase noise spectrum design techniques and phase noise spectrum that is suitable to remote controller were proposed.

  • Recently, the demand for high-integrated, low-powered, and high-powered SoC design has been increasing due to the multi-functionality and the miniaturization of digital devices and the high capacity of service informations. With the rapid evolution of the system, the required hardware performances have become diversified, the FPGA system has been increasingly adopted for the rapid verification, and SoC system using the FPGA and the ARM core for control has been growingly chosen. While the AXI bus is used in these kinds of systems in various ways, it is traditionally designed with AXI slave structure. In slave structure, there are problems with the CPU resources because CPU is continually involved in the data transfer and can't be used in other jobs, and with the decreased transmission efficiency because the time not used of AXI bus beomes longer. In this paper, an efficient AXI master interface is proposed to solve this problem. The simulation results show that the proposed system achieves reductions in the consumption clock by an average of 51.99% and in the slice by 31% and that the maximum operating frequency is increased to 107.84MHz by about 140%.

  • Voice over IP (VoIP) is a technology for the delivery of voice communications and multimedia sessions over Internet Protocol (IP) networks. Instead of being transmitted over a circuit-switched network, however, the digital information is packetized, and transmission occurs in the form of IP packets over a packet-switched network which consist of several layers of computers. VoIP Service that used the various techniques has many advantages such as a voice Service, multimedia and additional service with cheap cost and so on. But the various frauds arises using VoIP because VoIP has the existing vulnerabilities at the Internet and based on complex technologies, which in turn, involve different components, protocols, and interfaces. According to research results, during in 2012, 46 % of fraud calls being made in VoIP. The revenue loss is considerable by fraud call. Among we will analyze for Toll Bypass Fraud by the SIM Box that occurs mainly on the international call, and propose the measures that can detect. Typically, proposed solutions to detect Toll Bypass fraud used DPI(Deep Packet Inspection) based on a variety of detection methods that using the Signature or statistical information, but Fraudster has used a number of countermeasures to avoid it as well. Particularly a Fraudster used countermeasure that encrypt VoIP Call Setup/Termination of SIP Signal or voice and both. This paper proposes the solution that is identifying equipment of Toll Bypass fraud using those countermeasures. Through feature of Voice traffic analysis, to detect involved equipment, and those behavior analysis to identifying SIM Box or Service Sever of VoIP Service Providers.

A Study for Detecting Fuel-cut Driving of Vehicle Using GPS (GPS를 이용한 차량 연료차단 관성주행의 감지에 관한 연구)

  • The fuel-cut coast-down driving mode is activated when the acceleration pedal is released with transmission gear engaged, and it's a default function for electronic-controlled engine of vehicles. The fuel economy becomes better because fuel injection stops during fuel-cut driving mode. A fuel-cut detection method is suggested in the study and it's based on the speed, acceleration and road gradient data from GPS sensor. It detects fuel-cut driving mode by comparing calculated acceleration and realtime acceleration value. The one is estimated with driving resistance in the condition of fuel-cut driving and the other is from GPS sensor. The detection accuracy is about 80% when the method is verified with road driving data. The result is estimated with 9,600 data set of vehicle speed, acceleration, fuel consumption and road gradient from test driving on the road of 12km during 16 minutes, and the road slope is rather high. It's easy to detect fuel-cut without injector signal obtained by connecting wire. The detection error is from the fact that the variation range of speed, acceleration and road gradient data, used for road resistance force, is larger than the value of fuel consumption data.
