  • In coherent superhigh speed optical transmission link, compensating the system impairments are critical issues. Among these issues, phase noise and carrier frequency offset are the most important impairments which interrupt the signal recovery. This paper suggests a algorithm of digital signal processing that compensates the phase noise and carrier frequency offset and verified its validity. The suggested digital signal processing algorithm has a lower computational complexity compared with the previous algorithms, so it can ease the burden of signal processing at the receiver to provide high speed optical transmission system.

  • This paper presents an indoor prototype for wireless digital signal transmission using Visible Light Communications (VLC) in which high power Light Emitting Diode (LED) is used. Using low cost and off-the-shelf components, the transmitter module is constructed using an AVR Atmega128 microcontroller and commercial white beam LEDs. Modulating the light intensity of the LED enables digital signals to be transmitted across the optical link. The receiver module employs a high speed PIN photodetector for optical signal detection and a recovery circuit for optical-electro signal conversion. By sending digitalized data via VLC technology, many applications can be realized in the areas of consumer advertising, traffic safety information and disaster control.

  • Products of Wi-Fi devices in recent years offer higher throughput and have longer signal coverage which also bring unnecessary signal interference to neighboring wireless networks, and result in decrease of network throughput. Signal interference is an inevitable problem because of the broadcast nature of wireless transmissions. However it could be optimized by reducing signal coverage of wireless devices. On the other hand, smaller signal coverage also means lower transmission power and lower data throughput. Therefore, in this paper, we analyze the relationship among signal strength, coverage and interference of Wi-Fi networks, and as a tradeoff between transmission power and data throughput, we propose a range-aware Wi-Fi network scheme which controls transmission power according to positions and RSSI(Received Signal Strength Indication) of Wi-Fi devices and analyze the efficiency of the proposed scheme by simulation.

  • This paper presents the implementation result of the EEG(electroencephalogram) signal transmission protocol and its test platform. EEG measured by a dry-type electrode is directly converted into digital signal by ADC(analog-to-digital converter). Thereafter it is transferred DSP(digital signal processor) platform by $I^2C$(inter-integrated circuit) protocol. DSP conducts the pre-processing of EEG and extracts feature vectors of EEG. In this work, we implement the $I^2C$ protocol with 16 channels by using 10 or 12-bit ADC. In the implementation results, the overhead ratio for the 4 bytes data burst transmission measures 2.16 and the total data rates are 345.6 kbps and 414.72 kbps with 10-bit and 12-bit 1 ksps ADC, respectively. Therefore, in order to support a high speed mode of $I^2C$ for 400 kbps, it is required to use 16:1 and $(8:1){\times}2$ ratios for slave:master in 10-bit ADC and 12-bit ADC, respectively.

  • In this paper, as a compatible software radio transmission system, Digital-Radio conversion system which can directly change the digital signal generated by the logic circuit into radio signal is proposed. By the vector synthesis method, the digital signals can change directly into radio signal. If such a circuit is realized, RF circuit and an antenna can be composed by the simple one device, and the radio is directly controlled and performed by the software processing which is the essence of software radio. This Digital-Radio conversion system of this paper give many number of communication channels being offered by PN code and offer a hardware design flexibility by digitization, therefore it decrease the percentage ratio of hardware of system and give a more flexible function of software basis. In this paper, this proposed Digital-Radio conversion system is called D/R converter, and the principle of this D/R converter, radio signal generation algorithm is explained and the performance characteristics of proposed algorithm is shown in time base by the computer simulation method.

  • Recently, As the higher frequency in clock of digital system being demanded and the density of circuits gets high for purpose of making light and minimizing system, the study for solution of digital signal distortion being interested. In this paper, the distortion of square pulse caused by dispersion as it propagates along a single microstrip line and crosstalk between lines on the Multi-Transmission Lines (MTL) is investigated. The dispersion and crosstalk of pulse signals is analyzed regarding to the structure of transmission line such as relative permittivity, substrate height, strip width of the microstrip line and pulse width of signal pulse.

  • As digital systems continue to use components with faster edge rate and clock speeds, transmission of the digital information can take place many troubles. The increasing requirement for controlled impedance PCBs becomes both a critical success factor and a design challenge. Especially, the noise sources in digital system include the noise in power supply, ground and packaging due to simultaneous switching of signal, signal reflections and distortions on single and multiple transmission lines. This paper simulates the tracks controlled impedance with the test coupon. So, it can saves the design time and supports the economical PCB design.

  • We mathematically analyze the passband vestigial sideband (VSB) system for the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) digital television standard and present a baseband-equivalent VSB model. The obtained baseband VSB model is represented by convolution of the transmission signal (before modulation) and the baseband equivalent of the complex VSB channel. Due to the operation of the physical channel as an RF passband and the asymmetrical property of VSB modulation, it is necessary to use a complex model. However, the passband channel may be reduced to an equivalent baseband. We show how to apply standard channel model information such as delay, gain, and phase for multiple signal paths to compute both the channel frequency response with a given carrier frequency and the resulting demodulated impulse response. Simulation results illustrate that the baseband VSB model is equivalent to the passband VSB model.

  • Transmission line is exposed to a large area, and then faults are likely to occur than the other component of power system. When a fault occurs on a transmission line, fault locator helps fast recovery of power supply on power system. This paper deals with the design of a digital fault locator for improvement accuracy of the fault distance estimation and a fault occurrence position for transmission line. The algorithm of a fault locator uses a DC offset removal filter and DFT filter. The algorithm utilizes a fault data of GPS time synchronized. The computed fault information is transmitted to the other side substation through communication. The digital fault locator includes MPU module, ADPU module, SIU module, and a power module. The MMI firmware and software of the fault locator was implemented.
