In 1799, Korea has become a country that holds Earth observation satellite in orbit as they had succeeded in the launch of KOPMSAT-1, the first Korean Earth observation satellite for the practical purpose. For the wide application of the satellite imagery, various application techniques are required, and topographic mapping is essential technique for the application in various fields. Moreover, considering that the main mission of the KOMPSAT-1 is to provide the satellite imagery for the mapping of Korean peninsula, the topographic mapping using KOMPSAT-1 EOC imagery is very significant. In this paper, we showed the possibility of digital plotting using KOMPSAT-1 EOC stereo images to produce topographic map. For the purpose, we implemented experimental stereo plotting using digital photogrammetric workstation and analyzed the procedure. As a result of this paper, we showed that some elements consist in 1:25,000 scale map can be plotted from KOMPSAT-1 Stereo images.

Lately, digital restitution was became common using digital aerial photos. Therefore, we can obtain three-dimensional data. As a plotting-maker is checked by naked eye, plotting original data is very useful for making reliable three-dimensional data including contour and elevation point layers. In this study, we want to make precise and accurate digital elevation model using plotting original data. Contour and elevation point layers was extracted in digital map and break line was extracted in plotting original data. And then, compared both of results. For comparison, we selected slight slope and complex topography area like a residence area, mountain and agricultural land. We extracted break line deleting layer until obtaining ideal digital elevation model. As the results, We could extract contour, elevation points, eight road and two boundary layers using break lines. And We could obtain precise elevation model. Editing break lines, the distortion of digital elevation model could be minimized in the complex and sharp slope area.

Vectorization is currently the main method in feature collection (extraction) during digital mapping using UAV-Photogrammetry. However, this method is time consuming and prone to gross elevation errors when extracted from a DSM (Digital Surface Model), because three-dimensional feature coordinates are vectorized separately: plane information from an orthophoto and height from a DSM. Consequently, the demand for stereo plotting method capable of acquiring three- dimensional spatial information simultaneously is increasing. However, this method requires an expensive equipment, a Digital Photogrammetry Workstation (DPW), and the technology itself is still incomplete. In this paper, we evaluated the accuracy of low-cost stereo plotting system, Menci's StereoCAD, by analyzing its three-dimensional spatial information acquisition. Images were taken with a FC 6310 camera mounted on a Phantom4 pro at a 90 m altitude with a Ground Sample Distance (GSD) of 3 cm. The accuracy analysis was performed by comparing differences in coordinates between the results from the ground survey and the stereo plotting at check points, and also at the corner points by layers. The results showed that the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) at check points was 0.048 m for horizontal and 0.078 m for vertical coordinates, respectively, and for different layers, it ranged from 0.104 m to 0.127 m for horizontal and 0.086 m to 0.092 m for vertical coordinates, respectively. In conclusion, the results showed 1: 1,000 digital topographic map can be generated using a stereo plotting system with UAV images.
Mapping systems using Satellite Imagery has not been well-established compare to conventional Arial Photograph mapping systems. In order for satellite imagery to produce a stable quality of maps, it requires to follow the standard mapping procedures. In this satellite imagery study, we proposed four methods of mapping procedures. Mapping methods were established by generating trial maps and analyzing types of input data and functions of DPW (Digital Photogrammetric Workstation). On quantitative aspect, accuracy of each steps were measured by increasing 2 GCPs each time from the minimum of 6 GCPs. In DLT, with the minimum of 10 points, RMSE is 2 pixels at most. Besides that, interpretation and stereoscopic plotting using KOMPSAT-1 imagery and other simulated imagery was performed. The tests resulted that, for KOMPSAT-1 (6.6m) stereoscopic images, the possibility of interpretation is 44.79% and possibility of stereoscopic plotting is 43.75%. In the other hand, for simulated imagery (1m), the possibility of interpretation is 60.92% and possibility of stereoscopic plotting is 55.18%.

With acquisition of satellite image being facilitated due to recent advancement in Electro optical and astronautic technologies, focus on establishment of Geoinformation and analysis using satellite images have increased. This research have conducted digital plotting and digitizing operation, utilizing stereo images and grey level images provided by SPOT5 satellite and evaluated the accuracy through comparison and analysis with digital map results. Digital plotting results acquired using stereo images have been compared and analyzed on the basis of scale 1:25,000 digital map results published by National Geographic Information Institute. Accuracy of 20 check points have showed RMSE results 5.369 m at X (Easting) and 4.718 m, digitizing using grey level images showed RMSE results 7.616 m in X (Easting) and Y (Northing) 6.532 m. This is within the allowance of accuracy standards for scale 1:25,000 maps, and although digitizing operation was confirmed to have lower accuracy than that of digital plotting, using the former is considered to be more effective in terms of economical efficiency.

The KOrea Multi-Purpose SATellite(KOMPSAT)-2 has a capability to provide a cross-track stereo imagery using two different orbits for generating various spatial information. However, in order to fully realize the potential of the KOMPSAT-2 stereo imagery in terms of mapping, various tests are necessary. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the possibility of mapping using the KOMPSAT-2 stereo imagery. For this, digital plotting was conducted based on the stereoscopic images. Also the Digital Elevation Model(DEM) and an ortho-image were generated using digital plotting results. An accuracy of digital plotting, DEM, and ortho-image were evaluated by comparing with the existing data. Consequently, we found that horizontal and vertical error of the modeling results based on the Rational Polynomial Coefficient(RPC) was less than 1.5 meters compared with the Global Positioning System(GPS) survey results. The maximum difference of vertical direction between the plotted results in this study and the existing digital map on the scale of 1/5,000 was more than 5 meters according as the topographical characteristics. Although there were some irregular parallax on the images, we realized that it was possible to interpret and plot at least seventy percent of the layer which was required the digital map on the scale of 1/5,000. Also an accuracy of DEM, which was generated based on the digital plotting, was compared with the existing LiDAR DEM. We found that the ortho-images, which were generated using the extracted DEM in this study, sufficiently satisfied with the requirement of the geometric accuracy for an ortho-image map on the scale of 1/5,000.

To manage the architecture information of Seoul, aerial photographs have been taken and Photographic Interpretation Status Maps(PISP) have been produced through interpretation process. However PISP of SEOUL has a number of errors and difficulties to update maps, owing to its analogue formation by hand skill. In this study, some digitizing methods are tested to make Digital Photographic Interpretation Status Maps(DPISP). The digitizing methods by scanning maps, using ortho-images and true ortho-images, digital correction plotting process, and LiDAR techniques were used for comparative analysis of PISP. As a result of this study, the author suggest DPISP by the digital correction plotting method is proper for economical efficiency and its accuracy of the architecture information.
As part of an effort to leap smart cadastre system by doing rearrangement of various mismatches in the land register, the cadastre renovation project is being recently conducted. In response to this demand, this paper proposes an image-based rapid parcel boundary demarcation plan using the high resolution aerial image with a GSD (Ground Sample Distance) of 5cm that matches to real ground boundary situation in residential area. To review the feasibility and accuracy of this proposed methodology, we compared the accuracy of parcel boundary point and parcel area extracted from the digital stereo plotting on the basis of results of cadastral boundary surveying and land register over the selected two test areas. The comparative accuracy result of all boundary points by digital stereo plotting is satisfied with accuracy requirement according to the criteria of the enforcement regulation of cadastral surveying, whereas it exceeded allowable error of ${\pm}0.07m$, more strictly specified in the Special Act on Cadastral Renovation. And about 20% of the total 70 parcels extracted by digital plotting are out of area tolerance in Jecheon study area, and 10% of the total 19 parcels in Suwon study area. The parcels exceeding accuracy limit are mostly due to the occlusion caused by building roof or eaves, and the obstacles such as trees existing on the boundary. Furthermore, an object identification is impossible in image because of vague boundary reference in case of nonexistence of man-made structures or natural features. Therefore, the utilization of boundary identification stickers is recommended as a solution for these types of land parcel.

In this study, the orbit-based sensor modeling is applied to the digital plotting and the accuracy of digital plotting is analyzed. The KOMPSAT-2 satellite image with orbit-attitude model is used for the analysis. The precise sensor modeling with various combination of parameters is performed for the stereo satellite image. In addition, we analyze the error range of ground control points by applying the result of stereo modeling to digital survey system. According to the result, it is possible to produce digital map using stereo image with a small number of GCPs when the orbit-based sensor modeling for KOMPSAT-2 is applied. This means that it is suitable for the generation of digital map on a scale of 1/5,000 to 1/25,000 considering the resolution of KOMPSAT-2 image.

Efficient extraction and update of imagery is a crucial element in establishing latest geospatial information in today's fast changing Information society. Provision of Quick Bird imagery, with 61cm resolution panchromatic imagery and 2.5m resolution multi-chromatic imagery is contributing greatly in the application field if high density geospatial information. This research have conducted digital plotting utilizing stereo images provided by QuickBird satellite and evaluated the accuracy through comparison and analysis with digital map results. It turned out that result has smaller error than standard deviation of scale of 1:5,000 set by the NGII. This proves that the production of digital map at scale of 1:5,000 is possible.
