Since developing digital technology requires new skills in digital literacy, digital competence also has become a keystone in English classes. This study explores three aspects of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners' digital confidence: information and data literacy, communication and collaboration, and digital content creation, based on the European Digital Competence Framework for Citizens (DigComp). The participants were 150 Korean college students enrolled in two general English classes, and their English proficiency levels were from basic to advanced; each level consisted of 30 participants. In order to assess their digital confidence, I designed a Google survey form and collected data during two semesters. The survey results revealed that the participants had highest digital confidence in information and data literacy and overall, the female participants showed higher digital confidence than their male counterparts. It also showed that the learners' English proficiency and computer skills are important factors.
This study aimed to develop a self-reporting assessment tool for digital literacy competence to use it as a tool for self-diagnosis or effectiveness verification in educational programs, considering that digital literacy competence is one of the core competencies for the present and future society. Based on the previous research on digital literacy competence, the tool was developed with 45 question items of 2 areas and 8 factors. The results of an exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis conducted to determine suitability were generally satisfactory based on the assessment data from about 3,000 middle school students. The assessment tools developed in this study are primarily applicable to primary and secondary school and adult education. In future research, if the system is developed to be accessible to anyone online based on this tool, and the accumulated data provide educational information for each individual's self-development, it will greatly contribute to improving the digital literacy competence of the people.
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the competency in evidence-based practice, critical thinking disposition, digital literacy, and nursing informatics competence, and to identify the factors influencing the competency in evidence-based practice among nurses. Methods: The participants in this study were 196 nurses from a university hospital in J-city. Data were collected from December 1 to December 30, 2023. The collected data were analyzed with the SPSS 26.0 program using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way analysis of variance, Scheffé test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis. Results: The results showed that the factors influencing the competency in evidence-based practice included nursing informatics competence, critical thinking disposition, digital literacy, and having a master's degree. The participants with a master's degree demonstrated higher competency in evidence-based practice compared to those with a three-year degree or a four-year degree, and a total explanatory power was 53.1%. Conclusion: In this study, critical thinking disposition, digital literacy, and nursing informatics competence were influential factors in competency of evidence-based practice. Therefore, a variety of intervention programs should be developed to enhance the impact of these factors on nurses' competency in evidence-based practice.
This is a descriptive survey research aimed at investigating the level of digital literacy and verifying the impact of digital literacy and academic self-efficacy on problem solving in nursing students, with fousing on digital literacy, which is emerging in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution. Data were collected between April and May 2022 from 118 nursing students at a university located in K City, and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, two-sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, and multiple regression with the SPSS 18.0 program. The results showed that nursing students generally have good digital literacy, but they struggle with specific areas like material development and information evaluation. Nursing students' digital literacy (β=.311, p=.001), followed by academic self-efficacy (β=.184, p=.048), had a significant impact on problem-solving ability (F=12.237, p< .001), as explanaing 16.1% of the variation. To improve nursing students' digital literacy and problem solving, developing a more structured and situation-oriented nursing education curriculum is needed.
This study is aimed to verify the impact of health literacy on communication competence in nursing students. 104 nursing students participated in this descriptive research with an online self-reported questionnaire from May 3 to 21, 2021, at a university located in G city. The data were analyzed by two-sample t-test, ANOVA and hierarchical regression with SPSS program. The score of health literacy was 48.62/66 and the communication competence was 59.60/75. More than half perceived that the average reading level of Korean adults was higher than the actual. subjective health status(β=.309, p<.001), health literacy(β=.284, p=.002) and subjective academic grade(β=.235, p=.009) had significant influence on communication competence in the nursing students(F=10.546, p<.001). The explanatory power increased 7.3% more by adding health literacy(F=10.339, p=.002). To enhance communication competence of nursing students, more systematic curriculums to improve health literacy are needed.

In the digital society where ICT technology is highly developed, digital literacy is an essential competence for working and living. Developed countries around the world have been working hard to solve the digital divide and improve digital literacy. In this paper, we investigated and analyzed the case of US public libraries for improvement of digital literacy of adults including the older people. To do this, we analyzed the educational program type of digital literacy, education method, and the contents of the program, focusing on the best practices libraries of the program. Many of the educational programs still related to basic computer and Internet technologies, and training programs on Micro Office, e-mail, social media, and smartphone and tablet computing were also high. The most frequent and daily training method was informal point of use, and the content and level of education appeared to be very diverse. For digital literacy training, the librarians of the public library considered librarians' digital competence and retraining to be the most important, and the library facility and the latest equipment to be suitable for the operation of the digital literacy education program.

And reading and information literacy that focuses on the cognitive process of understanding, utilizing, and evaluating texts and information is categorized as process-oriented literacy. In the digital environment, reading and information literacy is a core competence to critically think and evaluate the texts that are on media, and further research is needed to reduce the reading and the information gap among readers.

As one of the key competencies required in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, interest and importance of digital competency is the growing. Digital competency means the ability to search and analyze necessary information using digital technology through collaboration and communication with other people to solve problems given in digital society and to produce the result. In this study, we will consider what factors should be included in the digital competence required in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. To do this, we systematically classify factors that are considered to be important through analysis of relevant research on domestic and foreign digital literacy, and propose a digital competence model suitable for domestic reality based on this classification. In order to design a digital competence model, we first define the operational factors of the digital competence and then define and refine it by experts.
This study is for looking into distinguishing features in child KSL learners' early literacy development. For these, the writings, recording data of dialogue, and observational journals of KSL child learners was collected regularly and the data were analysed. As results, KSL child learners showed lots of writing errors due to difficulty in phonological awareness or letter awareness of Korean language. And they seemed to develop the competence of connecting letters and meanings prior to developing the competence of connecting letters and sounds. Three KSL child learners showed great individual differences in development rate, and it is supposed to be mainly caused from differences of literacy development in their mother tongue, or quantity and quality in exposure for Korean language.
