In this paper we implemented DDFS and gam-phase dectector which use output of DDFS or any sinusoidal signal input to broaden the usability of DDFS. DDFS is composed of a 32 bits phase accumulator, phase increment registers, ROM and several registers for controlling the operations. It generates the digital data for sine wave up to the half of the clock frequency. To reduce the ROM size and increase the speed, we adopt the algorithms based on Taylor's series expansion method. Data at sparse phase intervals are stored in ROM and sine data between intervals are calculated in hardware. Function of Gain-Phase Extraction consists of sine lookup of DDFS and the optimized multipliers.

In this paper, a clock and data recovery (CDR) circuit that supports triple data rates of 1.62, 2.7, and 5.4 Gbps for DisplayPort 1.2 standard is described. The proposed CDR circuit covers three different operating frequencies with a single VCO switching the operating frequency by the 3-bit digital code. The prototype chip has been designed and verified using a 65 nm CMOS technology. The recovered-clock jitter with the data rates of 1.62/2.7/5.4 Gbps at $2^{31}$-1 PRBS is measured to 7/5.6/4.7 $ps_{rms}$, respectively, while consuming 11 mW from a 1.2 V supply.
In active sonar system using CW signal, when the noise included reverberation has not the white characteristics, the CFAR detector estimates high threshold. Because of this reason it cannot detect targets and not resolve the closely spaced multiple targets. In order to solve these problems, we propose an adaptive reverberation rejection filter The proposed filter is composed of an adaptive filter and a fixed filter with its coefficients. To study the performance of the proposed adaptive reverberation rejection filter, various experiments have been performed under In moving active sonar environments. As a results, the proposed method has the improved performance than the previous methods.
The uncertainty of the detector-based candela scale is limited by the area measurement uncertainty of radiometric apertures. The apertures were fabricated with a diamond-turning machine which trimmed the edge of the apertures as sharply as a knife edge. The positions of the apertures were controlled by a digital feedback algorithm to scan the laser spot with the beam waist less than 5 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. The knife edge scan yielded a set of coordinates on the edges of the aperture. The areas of the apertures were obtained by fitting the coordinates to the ellipses. The relative standard uncertainty of the measurement was estimated to be 8${\times}$10$^{-5}$.

In terms of food safety, mixture of contaminants in food is a serious problem for not only consumers but also manufacturers. In general, the target size of the metallic contaminant to be removed is 0.5 mm. However, it is a difficult task for manufacturers to achieve this target, because of lower system sensitivity. Therefore, we developed a food contaminant detection system based on high-Tc RF superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs), which are highly sensitive magnetic sensors. This study aims to improve the signal to noise ratio (SNR) of the system and detect a 0.5 mm diameter steel ball. Using a real time digital signal processing technique along with analog band-pass filters, we improved the SNR of the system. Owing to the improved SNR, a steel ball with a diameter as small as 0.3 mm, with stand-off distance of 117 mm was successfully detected. These results suggest that the proposed system is a promising candidate for the detection of metallic contaminants in food products.

Robovie-R2 [1], developed by ATR, is a 110cm high, 60kg weight, two wheel drive, human like robot. It has two arms with dynamic fingers. It also has a position sensitive detector sensor and two cameras as eyes on his head for recognizing his surrounding environment. Recent years, we have carried out a project to integrate new functions into Robovie-R2 so as to make it possible to be used in a dining room in healthcare center for helping serving meal for elderly. As a new function, we have developed software system for adaptive movement control of Robovie-R2 that is primary important since a robot that cannot autonomously control its movement would be a dangerous object to the people in dining room. We used the cameras on Robovie-R2's head to catch environment images, applied our original algorithm for recognizing obstacles such as furniture or people, so as to control Roboie-R2's movement. In this paper, we will focus our algorithm and its results.

Five model coils of 6.6 kV motor were manufactured with several defects. These stator coils have artificial defects such as void of groundwall insulation, removal of semi-conductive coating and damage of strand insulation. Epoxy-mica coupler(80 pF) was connected to five model coil terminals. The voltage applied to the coils was 3.81 kV, 4.76 kV, 6.0 kV and 6.6 kV, respectively. Partial discharge(PD) tests performed in the laboratory and shield room. Digital PD detector(PDD) and turbine generator analyzer(TGA) were used to measure PD activity. TGA summarizes each plot with two quantities such as the normalized quantity number(NQN) and the peak PD magnitude(Qm). The PD levels in pC were measured with PDD. PD patterns of model coils were indicated the internal and slot discharges. PD patterns are consistent with the result of measurement using PDD and TGA instruments. AC breakdown test was performed on five model coils in order to confirm the result of PD measurements. All the failures were located in a line-end coil at the exit from the core slot.
In order to recognize a situation from a environment which provides an intelligent service, we propose state-transition based situation modeling which is suitable for a low computing power and restricted resources like embedded systems, and we designed its application to a situation-action converter(SAC)which is consist of two parts; situation detector recognized wanted situations and action generator generated various control actions. Then, we implemented a situation manager for smart scheduler service by using a SAC which is installed to a ARM processor based embedded Linux evaluation board.
A small package of plasma instruments, Space Physics Sensor, will monitor the space environment and its effects on microelectronics in the low altitude region as it operates on board the KOMPSAT-1 from 1999 over the maximum of the solar cycle 23. The Space Physics Sensor (SPS) consists of two parts: the Ionospheric Measurement Sensor (IMS) and the High Energy Particle Detector (HEPD). IMS will make in situ Measurements of the thermal electron density and temperature, and is expected to provide a global map of the thermal electron characteristics and the variability according to the solar and geomagnetic activity in the high altitude ionosphere of the KOMPSAT-t orbit. HEPD will measure the fluxes of high energy protons and electrons, monitor the single event upsets caused by these energetic charged particles, and give the information of the total radiation dose received by the spacecraft. The continuous operation of these sensors, along with the ground measurements such as incoherent scatter radars, digital ionosondes and other spacecraft measurements, will enhance our understanding of this important region of practical use for the low earth orbit satellites.

NG-SDH system is connected with networks throughout optical fibers. Network synchronization controller is a necessary for the data synchronization in each optical transmission system. In this paper, we have design and implementation the network synchronization controller using SOPC(system on a programmable chip) design technic. For this network synchronization controller we use FPGA in Altera. FPGA includes 32bit CPU, DPRAM(dual port ram), digital input/output port, transmitter and receiver framer, phase difference detector. We also confirm that designed network synchronization controller satisfies the ITU-T G.813 timing requirements.
