  • Digital talking books have been developed to enhance reading experiences for reading-disabled people. In the existing digital talking books, however, it is difficult to read special contents such as math expressions, images, etc. In this paper, we define reading rules for Contents MathML. Based on this rules, we implemented a program for reading the mathematical contents of Contents MathML, using XSLT. We conducted a confirm test to prove the accuracy of the program, and an usability test to measure understanding of reading text of math expressions.

  • Augmented Reality (AR) is an emerging technology and the applications of technology are still not fully unveiled. This paper explores a new application of augmented reality for new direction in art exhibitions, which aims to bring interactive learning experience to life. The project takes printed images on book or exhibiting arts to the next level by applying AR technology to provide a unique fascinating experience to its readers on mobile devices. AR technology composing with animation brings new digital entertainment experience to the user of art exhibitions. The key feature of this paper uses the technology presents auxiliary information in the field of view of an object on art exhibitions automatically without human intervention.

  • The amount of data is increasing significantly as information and communication technology advances, mobile, cloud computing, the Internet of Things and social network services become commonplace. As the data grows exponentially, there is a growing demand for services that recommend the information that users want from large amounts of data. Collaborative filtering method is commonly used in information recommendation methods. One of the problems with collaborative filtering-based recommendation method is the cold start problem. In this paper, we propose a method to improve the cold start problem. That is, it solves the cold start problem by mapping the item evaluation data that does not exist to the initial user to the automatically generated data from the mobile app. We describe the main contents of the proposed method and explain the proposed method through the book recommendation scenario. We show the superiority of the proposed method through comparison with existing methods.

  • Despite the fact that the copyright has grown into a large-scale business, there are many constant problems especially in image copyright. In this study, we propose an automatic object extraction and classification system for the scanned educational book image by combining document image processing and intelligent information technology like deep learning. First, the proposed technology removes noise component and then performs a visual attention assessment-based region separation. Then we carry out grouping operation based on extracted block areas and categorize each block as a picture or a character area. Finally, the caption area is extracted by searching around the classified picture area. As a result of the performance evaluation, it can be seen an average accuracy of 83% in the extraction of the image and caption area. For only image region detection, up-to 97% of accuracy is verified.

The purpose of this study is to share the experience of the production method with the story of the fairy tale which is widely known to the children as the augmented reality video contents and to act as a guide book to make the application of the augmented reality technology to the field of book publishing easier. I want to. Also, in this development, the principles and the method of making augmented reality storybooks are provided to beginners of the augmented reality contents production including the 3D modeling production method used for the augmented reality production, the method of using Unity3D engine, and the method of producing the vuforia marker, It is a study that guides you to use it immediately.

  • This study has examined the policy status of the specialized libraries and analyzed the status of curation services of libraries and similar institutions and portals, and proposed policy directions for the curation services provision of the specialized libraries. As for the results of this study, first, curation information is collected and selected through the participation of various curators, and the curation information is regularly updated on the websites and online gateways toward maximizing the perception of the book collections in place and the use of collections. Second, the scope of the specialized libraries' curation services are diversified, such as research support services, one-on-one customized curation services, and book curation. Third, digital curation services are constructed in connection with specialized themes. Fourth, beacon is installed inside, and based on the information received from the information forwarding media, individualized user services are provided via such data as the scope of movement of the users and the time entailed for dwelling in a space.

  • For everyone, books are not only a passage to break down temporal and spatial barriers, but also a passport to the world. However, books are neither a passage nor a passport for persons with print disabilities. They are suffering from a severe book famine, with only 1-7% of alternative materials in accessible formats. The Marrakesh Treaty is an international agreement promoted by the WBU and WIPO to reduce such access gaps and inequalities. Accordingly, this study intensively analyzed and linked the global book famine and the Marrakesh Treaty for the persons with print disabilities including the blind and visually impaired, and suggested strategic tasks and implementation plans to strengthen the services of the disabled in domestic libraries. The government and libraries should concentrate all their competencies on improving awareness, inducing standardization of alternative materials in the publishing industry, amending and supplementing the copyright act and related laws, strengthening the digital file collection and service of the National Library for the disabled, and developing and applying library guidelines to implement the Marrakesh Treaty. This is because if food supports the body of the disabled, reading fosters their spirit. In order to solve the global book famine for persons with print disabilities, it is necessary to improve the publishing industry's cartels, copyright holders' barricades, and the weak platform of the library industry. All copyright holders, publishers, and libraries should participate in reducing the 95% gap in access between non-disabled and disabled people. That is the mantra of the book famine.

  • The list of the titles of surveying-related papers and books is updated by adding newly polished paper/book titles to the existing one. A special title-search program is developed for managing and searching the surveying-re-lated paper/book titles, and the database is established from the list of the papers. The total number of papers/books in surveying-related field published in Korea upto now is 971. The number of papers/books published in the specific fields are 206 in the conventional surveying field, 218 in Photogrammetry, 183 in Remote Sensing, 127 in Geodesy and GPS, and 237 in Digital Mapping and GIS. The special title-search program is developed using the Visual Basic 3.0 for Windows 3.1 to be operated in the Window environment. The SQL(Structured Query Language) is used for the searching commands.

  • This study proposes web-based authoring system for the lecturers who published textbooks by inserting external open resource. When lecturer publishes textbooks, the system makes it easier to utilize external resources by providing an open resource pool that the lecturer can search not only his own resources but external resources. In addition, we designed an open resource pool based on Original Contents Tracing Model to check whether the scrapped resource is changed or not in the future. Open Resource Pool allows inserting text, images and videos by searching multimedia, and stores metadata for the follow-up management. We made the system to determine the change of the resource using the metadata stored in the tracking system. Through this research, we confirmed that it is possible to publish textbooks by utilizing a variety of open resources on the web and revise the book by tracing the scrapped resources.
