The Inter Communication System for avionics is in charge of processing all voice signals that internal calls between Pilot and Co-pilot, internal calls between Pilots and Crews, external calls through communication equipment such as Ultra/Very High Frequency Receiver/Transmitter(U/VHF RT), audio signal monitoring for navigation and mission equipment such as VHF Omnidirectional Range/Instrument Landing System(VOR/ILS), Tactical Air Navigation(TACAN), audio signal output for voice recording to Flight Data Recorder(FDR) and Data Transfer System(DTS), and warning/caution audio signal generate about the status and threat of aircraft. Because Inter Communication System for avionics is sensitive to noise in the case of analog audio signals, a redundant design that can protect audio signal from electromagnetic noise inside/outside of aircraft is required for the mission of pilots and crews. In this paper, Normal/Back-up operation mode and redundancy design plan based on digital method for the redundancy of the digital Inter Communication System for avionics and manufacturing, verification results are described.

In this paper, the digital video and audio system is improved so that various digital video data formats in DVD disc, and digital audio data formats through the S/PDIF ports may be decoded. It is not easy to implement all decoding functions of video and audio by a DVD processor. The special structure in audio decoding circuit is proposed in this system so as to have simultaneously almost same video and audio performance in quality. By dividing the decoding circuit separately into video and audio part, the audio quality can be dramatically improved together with supporting several audio formats and with several effects. In order to satisfy the perfect audio system to support to audio decoding formats, it is just enough to get the expensive, complicated decoder. However, it may be not easy to get this expensive decoder in near future. Therefore it is rather to adopt the downloading method by which the host should download the appropriate code into memory by detecting the corresponding audio bit streams. It is proved that this method may be efficient in the point of sharing resource of audio data for video decoding.
In this paper, we propose a new transmission technique of audio signals for the serial connection of the speakers of multiple-channel audio systems. Analog audio signals from a multi-channel audio system are converted into digital signals with signal processing steps and transferred to each speaker through a serial line. The signal processing steps contain data compression and packet generation in association with audio signal characteristics. Each speaker gets its corresponding digital audio signals from the transmitted packets and converts the signals into analog audio signals to make sounds with the speaker All the proposed functions in this paper are modeled in VHDL. implemented with FPGA chips, and tested for actual multi-channel audio systems.
With commencing trial 3D digital broadcasting, the studies on next generation digital broadcasting technology for coming UHDTV era is being actively progressing. In this paper, I propose surround audio formats for next-generation digital TV broadcasting, along with comparative study of major surround audio formats in use or under development. I did comparative study on current major competing surround formats such as Dolby True HD and DTS HD MA, along with NHK proposed 22.2 channel surround format for UHDTV system. Upon this comparative study and our housing situation consideration, I propose lossy compression 3D surround 7.1 channel surround format along with loosless 2.0 and 4.0 hi-fi format as next generation digital TV broadcasting standard. In lieu with this, I also propose transmitting binaural 2 channel audio data as sub-audio. It will give holographic sound experience when properly processed with individual HRTF (Head Related Transfer Function) with headphone. The table for data rate of each proposed audio format is also presented.

In this paper, we propose a robust digital copyright-protection technique based on the concept of human auditory system. First, we propose a watermarking technique that accepts the various attacks such as, time scaling, pitch shift, add noise and a lot of lossy compression such as MP3, AAC WMA. Second, we implement audio PD(portable device) for copyright protection using proposed method. The proposed watermarking technique is developed using digital filtering technique. Being designed according to critical band of HAS(human auditory system), the digital filers embed watermark without nearly affecting audio quality. Before processing of digital filtering, wavelet transform decomposes the input audio signal into several signals that are composed of specific frequencies. Then, we embed watermark in the decomposed signal (0kHz~11kHz) by designed band-stop digital filer. Watermarking detection algorithm is implemented on audio PD(portable device). Proposed watermarking technology embeds 2bits information per 15 seconds. If PD detects watermark '11', which means illegal song. PD displays "Illegal Song" message on LCD, skips the song and plays the next song, The implemented detection algorithm in PD requires 19 MHz computational power, 7.9kBytes ROM and 10kBytes RAM. The suggested technique satisfies SDMI(secure digital music initiative) requirements of platform3 based on ARM9E core.
As a solution for copyright protection of digital multimedia contents, digital watermark technology is now drawing the attention. In this paper, we presented two novel audio watermarking algorithms as a solution for protecting unauthorized copy of digital audio. Proposed watermarking schemes include the psychoacoustic model of MPEG audio coding to achieve the perceptual transparency after watermark embedding and preprocessing procedure before correlation in watermark detection to extract copyright information without access to the original audio signal. Experimental results show that our watermarking scheme is robust to common signal Processing attacks and it Introduces no audible distortion after watermark insertion.
In this paper, the implementation of audio/data processor using ETRI DSP to support analog mode in digital/analog dual mode mobile phone is presented. Audio/data processor performs the wideband data processing, audio signal processing, demodulation function, and data rate conversion when it is operated in analog mode. These functions are programmed in assembly language, and then loaded to ETRI DSP together with vocoder program for the digital mode operation. This is a very efficient implementation of the dual mode cellular phone ASIC since the vocoder for the digital mode and audio/data processor for the analog mode are programmed together in the same hardware.

This paper This paper proposes a new inverse-quantization(IQ) table interpolation algorithm, specialized Digital Signal Processor(DSP) instructions and hardware architecture for digital audio codecs. Non-linear inverse quantization algorithm is representatively used in both MPEG-1 Layer-3 and MPEG-2/4 Advanced Audio Coding(AAC). The proposed instructions are optimized for the non-linear inverse quantization. The proposed algorithm can minimize operational complexity which reduces total computational load. Performance comparisons show a significant improvement of average error. The proposed instructions and hardware architecture can reduce 20% of the instruction counts and minimize computational loads of IQ algorithms effectively compared with existing IQ table interpolation algorithms. Proposed algorithm can implement commercial DSPs.

Nowadays, there are many innovative products in the pro-audio market thanks to advanced IT technology, DSP is very important technology to process high quality audio signal in SR(Sound Reinforcement) system. Digital audio technology that converged with IT technology can give new user-experience. In this paper, we present a new digital crossover system for active speakers using DSP and network technology. The prototype of crossover module consists of various audio process module such as filters, delay, phase controls and also it provides user to remote monitoring and remote control features by internet connection.
We propose an efficient audio transcoding algorithm that can convert audio streams from terrestrial digital television broadcasting service stations to those for terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting hand-held receivers. The proposed algorithm avoids the complicated psychoacoustic analysis by calculating the scalefactors of the bit-sliced arithmetic coding encoder directly from the signal-to-noise ratio parameters of the AC-3 decoder. The bit-allocation process is also simplified by cascading the nested distortion control loop. Through subjective evaluation, it is shown that the proposed algorithm provides comparable audio quality to tandem coding but it requires much smaller complexity.
