Implementation of Personal Video Recorder for Digital TV (디지털 TV를 위한 개인형 비디오 녹화기 구현)

  • The personal video recorder is a consumer electronics device that records television shows to a hard disk in digital format. In this paper, we propose an implementation method of personal video recorder for digital TV. The proposed personal video recorder includes cpu and system control modules, graphics and display module, audio DSP module, digital I/O module, NIM module, graphic software library, and embedded software modules for providing a lot of PVR functions such as live or reserved recordings, browsing of recorded content list, trick play and time shifting. Especially, combining trick play with time shifting makes much more convenient functions such as pausing live TV, instant replay of interesting scenes, and skipping advertising.

  • This paper describes the personal video recorder-based approach to realise enhanced services for interactive programmes on digital television. So far it is very difficult that most of interactive programmes included the vast quantities of contents, whatsoever it is data-broadcasting or HD-ready, are broadcasted on digital television via the current set-top box. Furthermore it was not possible to envisage until IPTV has been appeared. Even though IPTV makes possible for streaming the interactive services via high-speed broadband, it is not easy to receive the tremendous contents with interactivity through the current set-top box in a single effort. In this paper it suggests the effective solution to resolve the download dilemma for providing the interactive services on digital television by employing the set-top box fitted with the personal video recorder.

  • This study recorded an object using a digital video recorder, and then tried to estimate 3-D positional information and to reconstruct an image. Firstly, the accuracy of measurement results from a video recorder was evaluated and tested for an applicability, then it applied to a real object to construct 3-D digital model. This study assumed that there is no lens distortion in a video recorder, and all bundles should precisely pass through the projection center of a lens. The image size for orientations is determined by the size of CCD chip and the number of pixels. The average squared error from the result by a digital video recorder and that by triangular survey from 1-second theodolite shows 0.0173m error in x,y coordinates. Without knowing the accurate information on the lens distortion and the coordinates of the projection center, this study reasonably produces acceptable results in the reconstruction of 3-D model. In consequence, this study found that the image from a digital video camera can be reconstructed 3-D model only from the information on a camera type.

  • We have developed a PVR (Personal Video Recorder) chip that is capable of simultaneous playback and recording of HD quality MPEG-2 streams for digital TV. it provides viewers with some advanced features as well as pause, instant replay, skip forward and fast forward/rewind found in conventional PVRs for analog TV. This paper describes the enhanced and innovative features that art implemented on our PVR.

  • This paper describes a digital video recorder-based approach to realising interactive programmes on digital television.   • Construction management has been a target of the result and the index which were decided by whether the resourecs(time, cost and progress...etc) were used. but this has been serious problems in time and cost because of the shortage of storage space, the incident, lowering of efficiency for works, working impossible of between work categories and the demage of finished products. Therefore I noticed that more correct and more objective establish of data collecting system was necessary. it was through the diversification of information for exchange and communication between the construction site and participants. DVR(Digital Video Recorder) and internet technology were suggested for a solution to this problem. the collected information by DVR was divided to 3 steps as how long it used and how much it processed for improving efficiency of using and storage of information. and then it was verified through applying to cases at construction site.

  • This study is a research development case study on the free-standing Network based camera video recording DVR. The DVR devices till now have recorded data by converting and compressing analogue video to digital, but in the future, digital videos will be recorded directly through the network camera. Also, digital compressing methods are progressing from MPEG-4, MJPEG, to H.264 method, with products considering high definition compression efficiency, minimized data size, network compatibility, and fast pending time. According to this, in 2012, it is predicted that network camera and video devices throughout the world will outrun the current analogue devices. With this transition of technological environment and fast product pending speed, a new, quality focused design is required for product development including technical realization, reliability, high-definition, compression technology, will be essential. Manufacturers are researching a new direction for the product appearance. This study considers the actual end-users as the design target and through consumer survey on preferences, design needs and required elements necessary in the design development process are extracted. Furthermore, usability and preferred images were explored through literature study and market research. Through this research process, appropriate forms for the network based DVR were analyzed, and applied into the design development process. This product will take into consideration its competitiveness and the significance of USP(Unique Selling Proposition) which is the design supremacy and professional technical skills.

ESP : A DVR File Format for Enhanced Recording and Searching (ESP : 녹화 및 검색 기능 향상을 위한 DVR전용 파일 포맷)

  • DVR(Digital Video Recorder) system stores video inputs in compressed digital formats and retrieve them. DVR system has several advantages over traditional analog tape recorder system which are (1) improved real-time monitoring, recording and searching capability, and (2) other capabilities such as watermarking and remote monitoring through network. AVI format is the most popular format used for DVR systems. However, AVI format has drawbacks in recording and searching due to structural problem. Some vendors develop and use their own format, do not open the format to the public. In this paper, ESP format is proposed. ESP format solves the drawbacks of AVI format, and the advantages of AVI format apply to ESP format. Moreover, ESP format provides multistream recording/replay and event-recording. In result, ESP format enchances functionality of recording and searching in DVR system.

Broken Integrity Detection of Video Files in Video Event Data Recorders

  • As digital evidence has a highly influential role in proving the innocence of suspects, methods for integrity verification of such digital evidence have become essential in the digital forensic field. Most surveillance camera systems are not equipped with proper built-in integrity protection functions. Because digital forgery techniques are becoming increasingly sophisticated, manually determining whether digital content has been falsified is becoming extremely difficult for investigators. Hence, systematic approaches to forensic integrity verification are essential for ascertaining truth or falsehood. We propose an integrity determination method that utilizes the structure of the video content in a Video Event Data Recorder (VEDR). The proposed method identifies the difference in frame index fields between a forged file and an original file. Experiments conducted using real VEDRs in the market and video files forged by a video editing tool demonstrate that the proposed integrity verification scheme can detect broken integrity in video content.
