  • In this paper, we conducted cross-cultural studies on digital images, which is an important element of the user interface. We brought in the schema theory to explain the cross-cultural difference in expressing and perceiving digital images. Participant-ethnography, in-depth interview, and card sorting were conducted to explore how expression and perception of images are influenced by schemas. Our results of qualitative studies indicate that there are differences in schemas between cultures depending on the topic of expression and perception. With these results, we suggest globalization and localization strategies for websites.

  • The Design and Optimization of a low-profile antenna for the Satellite Digital Audio Radio System(SDARS) using a Non-Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm(NSGA) is presented. a fairly omni-directional elevation gain pattern over 60 degrees < q <60 degrees are obtained. The average value of the LCP gain pattern is approximately 2 dBic. The heights of the antennas are less than 0.251. The cross polarized signal level is approximately 12 dBic less than the co-polarized signal level.

  • In modern society, as technology has advanced and human life area has expanded, there has been an increasing demand for high-quality voice and video communications services without restrictions on time and place. In response to this demand, satellite communications systems that provide a wide range of communications and that offer multiple access are evolving day by day. In satellite communications systems such as Digital Video Broadcasting - Return Channel Via Satellite (DVB-RCS) and Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (WIN-T), the multi-frequency time division multiple access (MF-TDMA) demand assigned multiple access (DAMA) scheme is used for efficient resource allocation. In this scheme, since the satellite terminals periodically request resources from the network controller, and the network controller dynamically allocates resources, it is necessary to arrange resource allocation information from time to time. Shortening of the alignment time is a more important factor in a satellite communications system in which a long transmission delay occurs due to long-distance transmission and reception. In this paper, we propose a sorting algorithm variable-selection scheme that shortens the sorting time by cross-selecting the sorting algorithm based on a threshold value, while setting the number of frames in the MF-TDMA DAMA satellite communications system as the threshold value.

  • The Fluorescence-Activated Cell Sorter (FACS) is a well-established instrument used for identifying, enumerating, classifying and sorting cells by their physical and optical characteristics. For a miniaturized FACS device, a disposable plastic microchip has been developed which has a hydrodynamic focusing chamber using soft lithography. As the characteristics of the spatially confined sample stream have an effect on sample throughput, detection efficiency, and the accuracy of cell sorting, systematic fluid dynamic studies are required. Flow visualization is conducted with a laser scanning confocal microscopy (LSCM), and three-dimensional flow structure of the focused sample stream is reconstructed from 2D slices acquired at $1\mutextrm{m}$ intervals in depth. It was observed that the flow structure in the focusing chamber is skewed by unsymmetrical velocity profile arising from trapezoidal cross section of the microchannel. For a quantitative analysis of a microscopic flow structure, Confocal Micro-PIV system has been developed to evaluate the accelerated flow field in the focusing chamber. This study proposes a method which defines the depth of the measurement volume using a detection pinhole. The trajectories of red blood cells (RBCs) and their interactions with surrounding flow field in the squeezed sample stream are evaluated to find optimal shape of the focusing chamber and fluid manipulation scheme for stable cell transporting, efficient detection, and sorting

  • One of the powerful data management tools is Building Information Modeling (BIM) which operates through obtaining, recalling, sharing, sorting and sorting data and supplying a digital environment of them. Employing SHM, a BIM in monitoring systems, would be an efficient method to address their data management problems and consequently optimize the economic aspects of buildings. The recording of SHM data is an effective way for engineers, facility managers and owners which make the BIM dynamic through the provision of updated information regarding the occurring state and health of different sections of the building. On the other hand, digital transformation is a continuous challenge in construction. In a cloud-based BIM platform, environmental and localization data are integrated which shape the Internet-of-Things (IoT) method. In order to improve work productivity, living comfort, and entertainment, the IoT has been growingly utilized in several products (such as wearables, smart homes). However, investigations confronting the integration of these two technologies (BIM and IoT) remain inadequate and solely focus upon the automatic transmission of sensor information to BIM models. Therefore, in this composition, the use of BIM based on SHM and IOT is reviewed and the economic application is considered.

  • Purpose: This study was to identify the types of subjectivity on PBL experience of freshmen in nursing students. Method: This study is exploratory research through Q methodology. From 102 Q populations, we selected 31 Q sorting was done by 25 of P sample. When the Q sorting is completed on nine point scale, we interviewed participants and documented their responses. The data was analyzed by using QUNAL program. Result: The result of the study showed 4 types. Four factors provided an explanation for 71.6% of total variances, and these four factors were analyzed and categorized as four types. We named type 1 as [positive pressure], type 2 as [relational friendly], type 3 as [creative benefit], type 4 as [paticipatory development]. Conclusion: In this study, PBL was valuable experience and recognized as a variety of perspectives for freshmen in nursing students. These findings indicate we suggest that planning of strategy for efficient operation on PBL was reflected above results.

  • In this paper, we discuss the differences between an ordinary B-tree and B-tree implemented by NTFS. There are lots of distinctions between the two B-tree, if not understand the distinctions fully, it is difficult to utilize and analyze artifacts of NTFS. Not much, actually, is known about the implementation of NTFS, especially B-tree index for directory management. Several items of B-tree features are performed that includes a node size, minimum number of children, root node without children, type of key, key sorting, type of pointer to child node, expansion and reduction of node, return of node. Furthermore, it is emphasized the fact that NTFS use B-tree structure not B+structure clearly.

  • Currently, under being related with confiscation method of digital store medium from the court of justice, "the sorting confiscation method of principle, the exceptional medium confiscation method" from in section3 no.106 of the criminal procedure code disregard the actual fields of investigation. What is more, there are many difficulties to execute cases by observing this for the achievement of confiscation purpose. At this point, I present the problems of the present confiscation search method and the desirable scene confiscation search method and the improvement program under the new technology circumstance.

  • The flatness of a silicon wafer concerned with ULSI chip is one of the most critical parameters ensuring high yield of wafers. The polishing process that measures and controls the flatness of a silicon wafer is one of the important process in various processes for production silicon wafer, which are still being done today by manual. But engineers in polishing process are requested to have many experiences and to check silicon wafers one by one. In this paper, we propose an algorithm used interpolation that estimates wafer's shape and sorts wafers automatically, then we can control the flatness of wafers in polishing process by automatic system.

  • In this one species of planktonic foraminifers, Neogloboquadrina pachyderma, which has been collected from the sediments cores in the northeast Pacific ODP sites, was computerized through using digitalized images. The foraminiferal communities were analyzed, and the coiling direction of the N. pachyderma was determined by using computer progamming technology. In this way by appling algorithm-based method of reading, the tasks of sorting and analyzing the foraminiferal indiniduals and communities can be performad and high speed on a very large amount of specimens collected. It is found that the study had 90% accordance with the result of stereoscopic observation. This result suggested that digital image analysis could be successfully adopted in the field of micropaleontology.
