Objective Image Quality Measurement Model : Focus on Dynamic Range, Noise, Resolution, Color Reproduction, and Preference (객관적인 화질 평가 방법에 관한 연구 : 동적 폭, 노이즈, 해상도, 색재현성, 선호도)

  • We propose that a subjective image quality assessment based on objective image quality factors in order to evaluate objectively preference of consumers. In other words, we define objective image quality factors which are easy to accept by manufacturers and they are composed of subjective image quality assessment questionnaires. Also, portrait image is selected by stimulus in order to persue easiness of evaluation for the general subjects. Throughout a subjective image quality assessment model, we evaluate recognition of image quality by consumers and analyze the effectiveness of correlation in terms of the final image quality preference. Analyzing the relationship between image quality factors, we can figure out the preferable image quality and confirm the positive effects on consumers' recognition of image quality. In the results, there are strong relationship between preference and color reproduction, dynamic range, noise, and resolution respectively. especially, the characteristic of portrait, there is high correlation between color reproduction and preference.

  • As the use of smart devices is being increased rapidly by the development of internet and IT technology, the contents production and utilization rate are showing higher increase, too. In addition, the type of contents also shows very diverse forms such as education, game, video, UCC, etc. In the meantime, the contents are reproduced in diverse forms by reprocessing the original contents, and they are being serviced through the contents service platform. Therefore, the platform to make the contents reprocessing easy and fast is needed. As the diverse contents distribution channels such as YouTube, SNS, App Service, etc, easier contents distribution platform is needed, and the development of the relevant area is expected. In addition, as the selective consumption of the contents having easy accessibility through diverse smart devices is distinguished, the demand for the platform and service that can identify the contents consumption propensity by individual is being increased. Therefore, in this study, to vitalize the online contents distribution, the contents reproduction and publishing platform, was designed and materialized, which can reproduce and distribute the contents based on the real-time contents editing technology in URL unit and the consumer propensity analysis technology using the data management-based broadcasting contents distribution metadata technology and the edited image contents streaming technology. In addition, in the results of comparing with other platforms through the experiment, the performance superiority of the suggested platform was verified. If the suggested platform is applied to the areas of education, broadcasting, press, etc, the multi-media contents can be reproduced and distributed easily, through which the vitalization of contents-related industry is expected.

A Study on Spot Color Proofing using ICC-based Color Management System (ICC 기반의 컬러 매니지먼트 시스템을 사용한 별색 교정에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, the trend in the printing industry includes shorter run lengths and with fast turnaround times. As new markets have made it possible to produce small quantities of high-quality color products at affordable price, the general commercial printing meets the customer's diverse demand by using spot color besides process four colors. Especially, by using spot color for printing the enterprise's logo or specific color, we can see the effect of printing is getting better. With the combination of the right software, ink, media, and device can be treated as a digital proofer for spot color printing, providing significant time and cost savings compared to conventional procedures. The objective of this study is to investigate the quality of spot color proofs printed by ink-jet and dye sublimation proofer using ICC-based color management system. An Epson Stylus Color 3000 ink-jet proofer combined with Best Color Proof XXL RIP was tested for glossy and matte paper. 3M Rainbow dye sublimation proofer was examined using 3M Rainbow controller ver. 4.1 RIP on the manufacturer recommended proofing paper. ICC profiles were generated for each device using ECI 2002 visual target and evaluated for the accuracy of process 4 color reproduction. The test charts consisting of Pantone color 1140 was selected to test the quality of spot color reproduction.

  • Changes in document delivery service environment such as spread of web-based research information communication and direct communication between users and information providers have considerable effects on document delivery service institutes. Swift advances in information technology have allowed users to receive information on their desktops via web. Web-based document delivery makes the massive scale of reproduction and distribution possible so it needs to protect the copyright holders' rights. This study identifies the current trends and issues of document delivery service environment and reviews electronic document delivery services of foreign countries. Also this study introduces the domestic electronic document delivery service, e-DDS, and evaluates the copyright issues for the service.

  • The rapid growth and influence of digital technologies have had a profound effect on modern society. Companies and businesses can connect through SNS(social network service accounts). The importance of mass media empowers the creation of virtual images that are more realistic than time and space. Unlike traditional reproduction or imitation, the virtual images created in this way are reproduced in a form that lacks the original inspiration's essence. Jean Baudrillard described this phenomenon as the theory of simulation. Baudrillard argued that imitated simulated images replace reality. He stated that reality is lost under excessive images in modern society. In response, based on an understanding of the theory of hyper-reality that emerged through the late stages of the order of simulacre, this study aimed to analyze modern fashion's method of reproducing hyper-real images and investigate the method's characteristics. This study examined the characteristics of hyper-reality described by Baudrillard and analyzed the method of artistic expression of hyper-reality. Based on this method of expression, reproducibility, following the stages of image simulation, was derived. A specific case applied to fashion was analyzed, and based on the image reproduction method, specific characteristics of hyper-reality characteristics in fashion were obtained. Sixty-four collections were selected, out of which 155 images and 43 brands demonstrated the principles of image transformation.

Digital Color Image Watermarking for JPEG2000 (JPEG2000을 위한 디지털 칼라 영상 워터마킹)

  • Digital watermarking technology is one of method of protecting property from the illegal reproduction of digital data. This technology inserts the specific data in a certain file to identify the property, that is an author and rights, not for human to be seen and heard. In this paper, the watermarking technology which inserts a RGB color watermark in a JPEG2000 color image using the visual characteristics of wavelet coefficient was proposed. After applying various attack at a watermarked image according to proposed technology, the likeness between the original image, the watermark and the extracted watermark was measured and investigated. As a result, the PSNR value of image was varied depending on perceptual parameter, but we can obtain 32dB as a whole.

Quantitative Study on Tongue Images according to Exterior, Interior, Cold and Heat Patterns (표리한열의 설 특성에 관한 정량적 연구)

  • Tongue diagnosis is an important diagnostic method in traditional Oriental medicine. It has been especially accepted that quantitative analysis of tongue images allows the accurate diagnosis of the exterior-interior and cold-heat patterns of a patient. However, to ensure stable and reliable results, the color reproduction of such images must first be error-tree. Moreover, tongue diagnosis is much influenced by the surrounding illumination and subjective color recognition, so it has to be performed objectively and quantitatively using a digital diagnostic machine. In this study, 457 tongue images of outpatients were collected using the Digital Tongue Inspection System. Through statistical analysis, the result shows that the heat and cold patterns can be distinguished clearly based on the hue value of the tongue images. The average hue value (1.00) of the tongue's image in the cold pattern is higher than that in the heat pattern (0.99).

Efficient Offered Contents Using Broadcast Encryption (브로드캐스트 암호화를 이용한 효율적인 컨텐츠 제공)

  • The method of broadcast encryption has been applied to the transmission of digital information such as multimedia, software, and paid TV on the open network. In this broadcast encryption method, only previously authorized users can gain access to digital information. When broadcast message is transmitted, authorized users can first decode the session key using the previously given private key and get digital information using this session key. This way, users retrieve a message or a session key using the key transmitted by broadcasters. For their part, broadcasters need to generate and distribute keys. Broadcasters should also carry out efficient key renewal when users subscribe or un-subscriber. In this paper use a broadcast, and present the DRM model, using that look into the requirement about the contents and apply also the concept of a broadcast encryption. We offer the authority to copy as the number of reproduction to want to the user, and the low so that we were convenient because we used.

Real-Time Color Gamut Mapping Method Based on the Three-Dimensional Reduced Resolution Look-Up Table (해상도 절감 3차원 룩업 테이블을 이용한 실시간 색역폭 매핑 방법)

  • A novel real-time color gamut mapping method is described. The color gamut mapping method that is used for enhancing the color reproduction quality between PC monitor and printer devices is adopted for digital TV display quality enhancement. The high definition digital TV display devices operate at the clock speed of around 70MHz ~ 150MHz and permit several nano seconds for real-time gamut mapping. Thus, the concept of three-dimensional reduced resolution look-up table is introduced for real-time processing. The required hardware can be greatly reduced by look-up table resolution adjustment. The proposed hardware architecture is successfully implemented in FPGA and ASIC and also successfully adopted in digital TV display quality enhancement purposes.

  • Printmaking is a field of fine arts and is placed on a vague boundary that is perceived as a commercial product with a popular character due to the speciality of editions. Advances of modern science and technology has developed a new technique of printmaking, and the fusion of printmaking and computer has shown the possibility of reproduction art. Reproduction printmaking has been heavily influenced by photography and extended areas, and the various forms of printing have brought about many changes and attempts by stimulating the possibilities of indirect art at various angles. As the history of printmaking and technology closely relate, the development of computer makes widespread expansion of plural artistry, technological and artistic change. A new conceptual shape can be created on the copied image simply by placing the material of the print on the smoothly flat surface expressed in digital form. The process and the result of such work show the area of unique work which is different from the value of the $\grave{a}$ la carte art or the characteristics of the material given by the print. The deprecated perception of reproducibility evaluated the value of the work in a direct sense of printmaking. It is undeniable that it is devalued by a bundle of works regardless of the value of each edition. However, the physical properties of the prints on the paper are brought up with hand drawings drawn on the canvas by hand. And it becomes an opportunity to show new aspect and change through the process of combining digital print information on paper. The diversity of media is sometimes a controversy of identity between art and technology. In the future, it should be discussed how the limit of the media which can be enjoyed in the field of art can be set as a standard.
