This study proposed to assess courses which are currently offered in the Department of Library and Information Science, and to explore directions for improvement. Based on field librarians' needs and opinions about the courses, we suggested separating the required, core, and elective courses. We proposed six courses including 'Internship', 'Introduction to Library and Information Science', 'Cataloging and Classification', 'Library Management', and 'Information Retrieval' as required courses, and 5 courses including 'Practice in Cataloging and Classification', 'Information Resource and Service', 'Collection Development', 'Digital Library System', 'Introduction to Bibliography' and 'Records Management and Archives' as core courses. Finally, the remaining courses were recommended as selective courses which each department could select depending on their circumstances and faculty. The important components for substantial LIS courses are as follows: timeliness of training topics, expertise of educational contents, professionalism and qualifications of faculty, specialized educational materials, and increasing the major correlation between courses and professors.

Thumbnail, the small sized graphic file such as JPEG or GIF, serves to help the users to be recognized as a rapidly helps to make it easier recognize while browsing the large sized graphic file. Gallery application, which is installed in a later version of the 4.4.x(Kitkat) Android smartphone records the generated time of graphic file in thumbnail metadata. Thumbnail can be used to draw up the timeline of user action about user's action such as creation, modification, deletion with original graphic file analysis. Also, take advantage of the features thumbnails are stored sequentially in a single thumbcache file, even if the thumbcache is deleted, we can restore the thumbnails. This paper illustrates the feature of thumbnail created by Android OS basic gallery app and methods for utilization in digital forensics.

Macao, a special administrative region of China, has been able to maintain the records of zero deaths and keep confirmed cases under 50 since the outbreak of COVID-19 for more than half a year as of July 2020, despite being the world's most densely populated city. The current paper utilizes the dialogic public relations theory to analyze the situation using both literature review on how the various government actions and strategies during the pandemic were corresponding to the theory, and a quantitative random digital dialing (RDD) telephone survey, with a sample of 502 Macao residents aged 18 or above, to study the public reactions towards the government pandemic prevention actions. Survey results show a high level of public satisfaction towards epidemic prevention performance, as well as some forms of collaborative information redissemination behavior in social media platforms. Literature review and analysis from dialogic theory found that spirit of mutual equality, collaboration with local community, immediacy of presence in crisis time, engagements with stakeholders through maximum media channels and networks, supportiveness to public with both useful information and practical social support like subsidy program, as well as commitment to transparent and genuine communication, are all the dialogic communications strategies that describe what the Macao government has done in the crisis of COVID-19. The dialogic strategies that could be learned from the Macao government may be used as a reference for similar urbanized and densely populated cities in other territories.
NFC(Near Field Communication) is a wireless data exchange technology in 13.56MHz frequency band between devices. The NFC Forum defines the NDEF(NFC Data Exchange Format) exchanging data format between NFC devices and NFC Tags, the NFC RTD(Record Type Definition) defining the record types in the NDEF messages, the Smart Poster RTD in order to replace current paper posters and the Signature RTD to ensure the authenticity and integrity for NDEF records. But the previous smart poster authentication scheme have the weaknesses of using the PKI(Public Key Infrastructure) with certificates to verify the public key for the smart poster authentication and requiring the additional storage capacity of NFC tags for the authentication path. Therefore in this paper we propose a smart poster authentication scheme and implementation based on the authentication URL, a digital signature and a public key without the PKI and certificates for the smart poster authentication.
This study has made an in-depth analysis of the 'Puzzle System' which is a characteristic structural unit of the Adventure Game, and concentrates on the mechanism where the experience arouses in the player a 'desire (quasi-need) to finish' that leads to one's immersion and engagement in the game. In the course of conducting this study, documentary records were consulted and also this writer personally played video games to learn the component elements and fundamental characteristics of the Adventure Games and to experience how the player was immersed in the game. Thus, the Puzzle System in the Adventure Game was defined and an analysis was made of the structure and course of play where the puzzle part and the narrative part within the system organically interacted between them in the system. In order to confirm the formation and effects of 'desire to finish' shown in the hypothetic assumptions, two experiment-purpose game units were produced, one with dramatic cut scenes and the other without them, so that differences between them could be found. I also conducted an experiment to learn the generation and effect of the 'desire to finish' of the Puzzle elements by using different games with a varying degree of difficulty.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the patterns of unconsciousness smartphone use by using an app and a self-administered survey on smartphone addiction comparatively and examine differences between recognition and behavior about actual smartphone use and examine how smartphone addiction influences learning. With an app installed in smartphones, this author collected and analyzed data about users' unconsciousness using patterns for a month. According to the results, there were significant differences found in users' recognition and actual time for use and also frequency of turning on the display. Also, 22% of the subjects used their smartphone over 8 hours a day, and 76% more than 5 hours. Over 95% turned on the display more than 100 times a day, and in extreme cases, they did more than 300 times. In the meantime, users not only in the smartphone addiction high risk group and the potential risk group but also in the general user group are found to use their smartphone too long and too much and frequently turn on the display. The apps that the general user group is mainly using are entertaining apps, and their school records are rather good, so excessive use does not always lead to addiction or learning disorder. Therefore, if we develop more diverse contents for learning and provide digital literacy education, smartphone use will bring more positive effects instead. In follow-up research, the app should be corrected to collect more accurate information, and as variables in personal areas, this researcher will also measure depression, anxiety, stress, self-esteem, and emotional control, and so on to see how they are associated with smartphone use.

The efficient management for minimum losses and demage precautions of fragile region against coastal disasters such as seismic waves and seawater overflows is proceeding continually. This study is to analyze inundation trace and extract expected damage areas with historic records of tsunami using Geographic Information System. Creating a digital elevation model of the Mangsang and the Nobong region in the east coast, we marked inundation record of tsunami and forecasted the flood area with a seismic wave height between 3 m and 5 m. The inundation trace layers and the expected damage areas on the cadastral map layer were superimposed individually. Consequently, the range and lot numbers of inundation expected area were calculated and inundation areas of 5 m tsunami were increased by 2.8 times than 3 m tsunami in case of subject regions. Analyzed results are expected to use evacuation work in case of seismic waves and to predict the compensation of the damaged area. And this study is expected to use suitable countermeasure for prevention from natural disasters.
Several types of electrical artifact seen on electroencephalogram( EEG) records are described. Those are the EOG and the PVC roller pump noise, and so on. An adaptive digital filtering of the electroencephalogram( EEG) is a successful way of suppressing mains interference, but it affects some of the frequency components of the signal, whore artifacts may not be acceptable in some cafes of automatic EEG processing. Thus we studied the method for cancelling these artifacts. This proposed method does not use the reference channel, and is realized by connecting the linear predictor and the fixed FIR filter for the EOG artifact, and by cascading the linear predictor and the noise canceller for the pump artifact. The simulation results illustrate the performances of the proposed method in terms of the capability of interferences suppression. In the results we obtained about 20 dB noise reduction.
This paper proposes a method of the car license plate recognition from digital camera image. Lots of technology advancement has been accomplished for the least several years. The key issue for recognition rate improvement has been the extraction of correct area on the plate. In the previous studies, the information from an edge or an color on a plate hasn't been used but some declination also taken into account in most cases due to the difficulty of area extraction on a tilted plate The proposed method focuses on transforming a slant plate image to the normalized form to be recognized. It shows good robustness on situations defined by a variety of locations, slants and heights of the license plate, because it detects the edge of license plate by using both the color information and linear regression method. The computer simulation shows that the proposed method records 92% detection rates of license plate and can recognize characters of slant plate with about 50 degrees.
Objective: To evaluate the long-term effects of self-ligating brackets (SLBs) on transverse dimensions of arches and skeletal and soft tissues and to quantitatively evaluate the treatment outcome after non-extraction treatment with SLBs. Methods: The sample consisted of 24 (18 female and six male) subjects, with a mean age of $14.23{\pm}2.19$ years, who received treatment with the Damon$^{(R)}$3 appliances. Complete records including cephalometric radiographs and plaster models were obtained before treatment (T1), immediately after treatment (T2), six months after treatment (T3), and two years (T4) after treatment. Digital study models were generated. Twenty lateral cephalometric, six frontal cephalometric, and eight dental cast measurements were examined. The Peer Assessment Rating index was used to measure the treatment outcome. The Wilcoxon test was applied for statistical analysis of the changes. Results: There were significant increases in all transverse dental cast measurements with active treatment. There was some significant relapse in the long term, particularly in maxillary width (p < 0.05). Statistically significant increases were found in nasal (p < 0.001), maxillary base, upper molar, lower intercanine, and antigonial (p < 0.05) widths in T1-T2. Lower incisors were proclined and protruded in T1-T2. Conclusions: SLBs correct crowding by mechanisms involving incisor proclination and protrusion and expansion of the dental arches, without induction of clinically significant changes in hard and soft tissues of the face.
