  • We have developed an optimization algorithm based formulation for performing efficient time driven simultaneous place and route for FPGAs. Field programmable gate array (FPGAs) provide of drastically reducing the turn-around time for digital ICs, with a relatively small degradation in performance. For a variety of application specific integrated circuit application, where time-to-market is most critical and the performance requirement do not mandate a custom or semicustom approach, FPGAs are an increasingly popular alternative. This has prompted a substantial amount of specialized synthesis and layout research focused on maximizing density, minimizing delay, and minimizing design time.

효율적인 하드웨어 공유를 위한 단어길이 최적화 알고리듬 (A bitwidth optimization algorithm for efficient hardware sharing)

  • This paper presents a bitwidth optimization algorithm for efficient hardware sharing in digital signal processing system. The proposed algorithm determines the fixed-point representation for each signal through bitwidth optimization to generate the hardware requiring less area. To reduce the operator area, the algorithm partitions the abstract operations in the design description into several groups, such that the operations in the same group can share an operator. The partitioning result are fed to a high-level synthesis system to generate the pipelined fixed-point datapaths. The proposed algorithm has been implemented in SODAS-DSP an automatic synthesis system for fixed-point DSP hardware. Accepting the models of DSP algorithms in schematics, the system automatically generates the fixed-point datapath and controller satisfying the design constraints in area, speed, and SNR(Signal-to-Noise Ratio). Experimental results show that the efficiency of the proposed algorithm by generates the area-efficient DSP hardwares satisfying performance constraints.

A Hybrid PSO-BPSO Based Kernel Extreme Learning Machine Model for Intrusion Detection

  • With the success of the digital economy and the rapid development of its technology, network security has received increasing attention. Intrusion detection technology has always been a focus and hotspot of research. A hybrid model that combines particle swarm optimization (PSO) and kernel extreme learning machine (KELM) is presented in this work. Continuous-valued PSO and binary PSO (BPSO) are adopted together to determine the parameter combination and the feature subset. A fitness function based on the detection rate and the number of selected features is proposed. The results show that the method can simultaneously determine the parameter values and select features. Furthermore, competitive or better accuracy can be obtained using approximately one quarter of the raw input features. Experiments proved that our method is slightly better than the genetic algorithm-based KELM model.

Particle Swarm Optimization based Haptic Localization of Plates with Electrostatic Vibration Actuators

  • Haptic actuators for large display panels play an important role in bridging the gap between the digital and physical world by generating interactive feedback for users. However, the generation of meaningful haptic feedback is challenging for large display panels. There are dead zones with low haptic sensations when a small number of actuators are applied. In contrast, it is important to control the traveling wave generated by the actuators in the presence of multiple actuators. In this study, we propose a particle swarm optimization (PSO)-based algorithm for the haptic localization of plates with electrostatic vibration actuators. We modeled the transverse displacement of a plate under the effect of actuators by employing the Kirchhoff-Love plate theory. In addition, starting with twenty randomly generated particles containing the actuator parameters, we searched for the optimal actuator parameters using a stochastic process to yield localization. The capability of the proposed PSO algorithm is reported and the transverse displacement has a high magnitude only in the targeted region.

군집 로봇의 임무 검증 지원을 위한 디지털 트윈 기반 통신 최적화 기법 (Digital Twin-Based Communication Optimization Method for Mission Validation of Swarm Robot)

  • 로봇은 군사 분야로까지 활용 범위를 넓히며 다가올 미래전에서 감시경계, 적군 탐지 등 중요한 임무를 맡게 될 것으로 전망된다. 군집 로봇은 다수라는 장점으로 단일 로봇이 수행하기 어렵거나 오랜 시간이 소요된 임무를 보다 효율적으로 수행할 수 있다. 상호 간 인지 및 협업이 필수인 군집 로봇은 방대한 데이터를 주고 받으며, 이로 인해 SW의 검증이 점점 더 어려워지고 있다. 임무 검증의 신뢰성을 높이기 위해 사용하는 Hardware-in-the-loop simulation은 복잡한 군집 로봇의 SW 검증을 가능하게 하나, HILS 장치와 시뮬레이터 간 주고 받는 검증 데이터의 양이 검증 대상 시스템 수에 따라 기하급수적으로 증가하여 통신 과부하가 발생할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 군집 로봇의 임무 검증에서 발생하는 통신 과부하 문제를 해소하기 위해 디지털 트윈 기반의 통신 최적화 기법을 제안한다. 제안하는 Digital Twin based Multi HILS Framework 하에서 Network DT은 Network Controller 알고리즘을 통해 임무 시나리오에 따라 각 로봇에게 네트워크 자원을 효율적으로 할당할 수 있으며, 군집에 참여하는 개별 로봇들이 요구하는 Sensor Generation Rate를 모두 만족시킬 수 있음을 확인하였다. 또한 데이터 전송에 대한 실험 결과 패킷 손실 비율을 기존 15.7%에서 약 0.2%로 감소시킬 수 있었다.

  • This paper presents the development of digital robust fuzzy controller for uncertain nonlinear systems. The proposed approach is based on the intelligent digital redesign(IDR) method with considering the relaxed stability condition of fuzzy control system. The term IDR in the concerned system is to convert an existing analog robust control into an equivalent digital counterpart in the sense of the state-matching. We shows that the IDR problem can be reduced to find the digital fuzzy gains minimizing the norm distance between the closed-loop states of the analog and digital robust control systems. Its constructive conditions are expressed as the linear matrix inequalities(LMIs) and thereby easily tractable by the convex optimization techniques. Based on the nonquadratic Lyapunov function, the robust stabilization conditions are given for the sampled-data fuzzy system, and hence less conservative. A numerical example, chaotic Lorentz system, is demonstrated to visualize the feasibility of the proposed methodology.

HIV-1 바이오 동역학 모델의 지능형 디지털 재설계 (Intelligent Digital Redesign of Biodynamic Model of HIV-1)

  • This paper studies digital control of biodynamic model of HIV-1 via intelligent digital redesign (IDR). The purpose of the IDR is to develop an equivalent digital fuzzy controller maintaining the satisfactory performance of an existing continuous-time fuzzy controller in the sense of the state-matching. Some conditions for the stability as well as the global state-matching are provided.. They are given by the form of the linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) and thereby easily tractable by the convex optimization techniques. The main features of the proposed method are that 1) the generalized control scheme is provided for the multirate as well as the single-rate digital controllers; 2) a new compensated block-pulse function method is applied to closely match the states of the continuous-time and the sampled-data fuzzy systems in the discrete-time domain; 3) the two-step procedure of IDR is presented to prevent the performance degradation caused by the additional stability conditions. The applicability of the proposed approach is shown through the biodynamic model of HIV-1.

Optimization of Ceramide Analysis Method Using LC-MS in Cosmetics

  • Ceramide is a lipid in which sphingoid bases and fatty acids are linked by amide bonds. As a marker of skin disease in the human stratum corneum, its disease-causing and therapeutic effects have been partially confirmed, and it is therefore an important element in commercially available cosmetic formulations. However, structural diversity caused by differences in the chain length, number, and location of hydroxyl groups makes quality control difficult. In this study, a method was established to separate different ceramide species using reversed-phase LC-MS/MS and thus enable qualitative evaluation. Separation of four standards was achieved within a short retention time, and the accuracy and sensitivity of the method were demonstrated by the low limit of detection (LOD) calculated based on the calibration curve showing linearity, with R2 > 0.994. After verification of reproducibility and reliability through intra- and inter-day analyses, the efficiency of the method was confirmed through analysis of commercial cosmetic raw materials.

부산광역시 도시철도 혼잡도 완화를 위한 디지털 트윈 시뮬레이션 모델 개발 (A Digital Twin Simulation Model for Reducing Congestion of Urban Railways in Busan)

  • As a representative concept of the fourth industrial revolution era where everything is digitized, digital twin means analyzing and optimizing a complex system using a simulation model synchronized with the system. In this paper, we propose a digital twin simulation model for the efficient operation of urban railways in Busan. Due to the geopolitical nature of Busan, where there are many mountains and narrow roads, the railways are more useful than other public transportation. However, this inversely results in a high level of congestion, which is an inconvenience to citizens and may be fatal to the spread of the virus, such as COVID19. Considering these characteristics, the proposed model analyzes the congestion level of the railways in Busan. The model is developed based on a mathematical formalism called discrete-event system specification and deduces the congestion level and the average waiting time of passengers depending on the train schedule. In addition, a new schedule to reduce the congestion level is derived through particle swarm optimization, which helps the efficient operation of the railways. Although the model is developed for the railways in Busan, it can also be used for railways in other cities where a high level of congestion is a problem.
