  • In this paper, it is key issue about analysis of characteristics processing of digital random output stream of hardware random number generator, which is applied in medical area. The output stream of random number generator based on hardware binary random number is effected from factors such as delay, jitter, temperature, and so on. In this paper, it presents about major factor, which effects hardware output random number stream, and the randomness of output stream data, which are combined output stream and postprocessing data such as encryption algorithm, encoding algorithm, is analyzed. the analyzed results are evaluated by major test items of randomness.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to measure the number of biofouling attached to underwater structures. This method measures the number of biofouling based on digital images captured in underwater. The number of biofouling was measured after correcting the image quality of underwater images for accurate population counting. In order to measure the number of biofouling, Maxima value in the image was found.

  • The k-means has been one of the popular, simple and faster clustering algorithms, but the right value of k is unknown. The value of k (the number of clusters) is a very important element because the result of clustering is different depending on it. In this paper, we present a novel algorithm based on an external cluster relationship criterion which is an evaluation metric of clustering result to determine the number of clusters dynamically. Experimental results show that our algorithm is superior to other methods in terms of the accuracy of the number of clusters.

  • In this paper, a new frequency-to-digital converter without an analog element is proposed. The proposed circuit consists of pulse-shrinking elements, latches and D flip-flops, and the operation is based on frequency comparison by the pulse-shrinking element. In the proposed circuit, the resolution of digital output can be easily improved by increasing the number of the pulse-shrinking elements. The FDC performance is improved in viewpoints of operating speed and chip area. In designed FDC, error of frequency-to-digital conversion is less than 0.1 %.

  • This paper discusses the implementation and performance evaluation of a DSP-based digital beamformer using the Texas Instrument TMSC6711 DSP processor for smart antenna applications. Two adaptive beamforming algorithms which served as the brain for the beamformer, the Normalized Least-Mean-Square (NLMS) and the Constant Modulus Algorithms (CMA) were embedded into the processor and evaluated. Result shows that the NLMS-based digital beamformer outperforms the CMA-based digital beamformer: 1)For NLMS algorithm, the antenna steers to the direction of the desired user even at low iteration value and the suppression level towards the interferer increases as the number of iteration increase. For CMA algorithm, the beam radiation pattern slowly steers to the desired user as the number of iteration increased, but at arate slower than NLMS algorithm and the sidelobe level is shown to increases as the number of iteration increase. 2) The NLMS algorithm has faster convergence than CMA algorithm and the error convergence for CMA algorithm sometimes is subject to misadjustment.

  • An impeller identification technique that is essential for adding viscosity measurement functions to overhead stirrers is presented in this study. Previous studies have revealed that using magnets facing the same poles arranged in a row can aid in distinguishing the types of impellers by detecting the number of magnets in a non-contact manner. However, as these previous studies measured the magnetic fields using analog Hall sensors, a converting circuit for the digital signals is required that can interface with the MCU. In this study, it was demonstrated that the number of magnets can be distinguished without using a separate conversion circuit by using a Hall sensor with a digital output. Owing to the unique hysteresis characteristics of digital Hall sensors, it was confirmed through experiments that the complex and diverse outputs appear depending on the direction of the magnetic field, the arrangement of magnetic poles, and the moving direction of the magnet. The measurement of the magnetic field showed that an edge signal equal to the number of magnets inserted into the impeller was detected when the radial direction was used, and the south pole was first approached.

  • We present an optical security method for binary data information by using 4-step phase-shifting digital holography and we analyze tolerance error for the decrypted data. 4-step phase-shifting digital holograms are acquired by moving the PZT mirror with equidistant phase steps of ${\pi}/2$ in the Mach-Zender type interferometer. The digital hologram in this method is a Fourier transform hologram and is quantized with 256 gray level. The decryption performance of the binary data information is analyzed. One of the most important errors is the quantization error in detecting the hologram intensity on CCD. The greater the number of quantization error pixels and the variation of gray level increase, the more the number of error bits increases for decryption. Computer experiments show the results for encryption and decryption with the proposed method and show the graph to analyze the tolerance of the quantization error in the system.

  • In this study, we investigated methods of quality check for digital basemaps and proposed effective methods of quality check. We used new statistical methods for quality control in order to carry out quality check for digital basemaps. We proposed 2-stage complete sampling and 2-stage cluster sampling method to improve present statistical methods of quality check(1-stage complete sampling method). We estimated error rate and number of omitted objects using simulated data about all delivered digital basemaps and estimated variances about it. We could determine confidence interval about error rate and number of omitted objects.

  • Texture analysis has been efficiently utilized in the area of terrain classification. In this application features have been obtained in the 2D image domain. This paper suggests 3D co-occurrence texture features by extending the concept of co-occurrence to 3D world. The suggested 3D features are described using co-occurrence histogram of digital elevations at two contiguous position as co-occurrence matrix. The practical construction of co-occurrence matrix limits the number of levels of digital elevation. If the digital elevation is quantized into the number of levels over the whole DEM(Digital Elevation Map), the distinctive features can not be obtained. To resolve the quantization problem, we employ local quantization technique which preserves the variation of elevations. Experiments has been carried out to verify the proposed 3D co-occurrence features, and the addition of the suggested features significantly improves the classification accuracy.
