In this paper we present our work on the parameterized construction of virtual drivers' reach motion to seat belt, by using motion capture data. A user can generate a new reach motion by controlling a number of parameters. We approach the problem by using multiple sets of example reach motions and learning the relation between the labeling parameters and the motion data. The work is composed of three tasks. First, we construct a motion database using multiple sets of labeled motion clips obtained by using a motion capture device. This involves removing the redundancy of each motion clip by using PCA (Principal Component Analysis), and establishing temporal correspondence among different motion clips by automatic segmentation and piecewise time warping of each clip. Next, we compute motion blending functions by learning the relation between labeling parameters (age, hip base point (HBP), and height) and the motion parameters as represented by a set of PC coefficients. During runtime, on-line motion synthesis is accomplished by evaluating the motion blending function from the user-supplied control parameters.
A digital control system for the steam generator oater level control is developed using the optimal control technique. To describe the more realistic situation, a feedwater valve actuator of the first order lag is included in the overall control system. The optimal gains are obtained by the LQ method which imposes the constraints on the feedwater valve motion as well as on the deviation between the input demand signal and the output feedwater. Developed also is a Kalman observer on account of the flow measurement uncertainty at low power. And a digital controller on the feedback loop is designed which makes the system maintain the same stability margins for all power ranges. The simulation results show that the optimal digital system has good control characteristics despite the adverse dynamics of the steam generator at low power.
We propose a new technique to the design and real-time implementation of an adaptive controller for robotic manipulator based on digital signal processors in this paper. The Texas Instruments DSPs(TMS320C80) chips are used in implementing real-time adaptive control algorithms to provide enhanced motion control performance for dual-arm robotic manipulators. In the proposed scheme, adaptation laws are derived from model reference adaptive control principle based on the improved direct Lyapunov method. The proposed adaptive controller consists of an adaptive feed-forward and feedback controller and time-varying auxiliary controller elements. The proposed control scheme is simple in structure, fast in computation, and suitable for real-time control. Moreover, this scheme does not require any accurate dynamic modeling, nor values of manipulator parameters and payload. Performance of the proposed adaptive controller is illustrated by simulation and experimental results for a dual arm robot consisting of two 4-d.o.f. robots at the joint space and cartesian space.

This application study presents a solution to control a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor without sensors. The use of this system yields enhanced operations, fewer system components, lower system cost , energy efficient control system design and increased efficiency. The control method presented is field oriented control (FOC). The sinusoidal voltage waveforms are generated by the power module using the space vector modulation technique. A practical solution is described and results are given in this application Study. The performance of a Sensorless architecture allows an intelligent approach to reduce the complete system costs of digital motion control applications using cheaper electrical motors without sensors. This paper deals with an overview of sensorless solutions in digital motor control applications whereby the focus will be the new Controller without sensors and its applications.

This paper presents a new approach to the design of adaptive control system using DSPs(TMS320C30) for robotic manipulators to achieve trajectory tracking by the joint angles. Digital signal processors are used in implementing real time adaptive control algorithms to provide an enhanced motion control for robotic manipulators. In the proposed control scheme, adaptation laws are derived from the improved Lyapunov second stability analysis method based on the adaptive model reference control theory. The adaptive controller consists of an adaptive feedforward controller, feedback controller, and PID type time-varying auxillary control elements. The proposed adaptive control scheme is simple in structure, fast in computation, and suitable for implementation of real-time control. Moreover, this scheme does not require an accurate dynamic modeling, nor values of manipulator parameters and payload. Performance of the adaptive controller is illustrated by simulation and experimental results for a SCARA robot.

The subject of this study is to improve the position performance of the linear motion for hybrid type Linear Pulse Motor (HLPM). Generally, there are two applicable methods to ensure precise position control ; a good processing method. This paper is suggested an electrical 125 microstep driving method so as to achieves the excellent control performance, besides the small mechanical manufacture of teeth pitch. The compensation method of digital PI control is apply to step response of stable position control, step error, vibration suppression and the approach to high stability, and the Ziegler-Nichols tuning method is applied to the proper design of control parameter. The proposed control method has been verified by simulation results of the suitable gain and phase margin of bode plot, and from experiment result of step response.
An adaptive neural network compensator for stick-slip friction phenomena in servo systems is proposed to supplement the traditionally available position and velocity control loops for precise motion control. The neural network compensator plays a role of canceling the effect of nonlinear slipping friction force. This enables the mechatronic systems more precise control and realistic design in the digital computer. It was confirmed that the control accuracy is more improved near zero velocity and the points of changing the moving direction through numerical simulation

This paper presents a linear air bearing stage with compensated motion errors by active control of preloads generated by magnetic actuators with combination of permanent and electromagnets. A 1-axis linear stage motorized with a linear motor with 240mm of travel range is built for verifying this design concept and tested its performances. The three motions of the table are controlled with four magnetic actuators driven by current amplifiers and a DSP based digital controller. Three motion errors were measured combined method with laser interferometer and two-probe method with $0.085{\mu}m$ of repeatability for straightness error. The measured motion errors were modeled as functions of the stage position, and compensation were carried out with feedforward control because the characteristics of the motion control with magnetic actuators are linear and independent for each degree-of-freedoms. As the results, the errors were reduced from $1.09{\mu}m$ to $0.11{\mu}m$ for the vertical motion, from 9.42 sec to 0.18 sec for the pitch motion and from 2.42 sec to 0.18 sec for roll motion.
This paper suggests a high-speed control method which is suitable for multi-joint robots using a real-time stand-alone controller for general-purpose. The fast processing controller consists of a PCI Interface Board and 2-axe PWM drivers. The PCI Interface Board consists of 32-channel PWM output ports, 32-channel Encoder Counters, 32-channel A/D Converters and 48-channel Digital I/O ports, and all the I/O data transmissions are completed within 1ms. And The 2-axe PWM driver can be redesigned easily in order to embed in each link. Experimental implementations show that the high-speed control method can be used for the real-time control which is essential to controlling of multi-body robots such as humanoid robots. Especially, it is efficient for realizing the model-based motion control in demand of much calculation time by the high I/O communication speed.
