  • LED lighting control system using unidirectional DMX512 (digital multiplex with 512 pieces of information)) protocol has been the most popular. Nowadays, the user's consumption has been upgrading to the more intelligent system but the upgrading process does not affect the existing infrastructure. There were many researches use the additional communication for the feedback communication way such as WiFi, Controller Area Network (CAN), Power Line Communication (PLC), etc but all researches had inherent disadvantages that created the independent feedback with the existing DMX512 system. Our paper represents the novel method that uses the remote device management (RDM) protocol to associate the additional feedback with existent DMX512 infrastructure in the one system. The data in DMX512 frame sending to the DMX512 client is split and repacked to become the RDM packet. This RDM packet is transferred to the RDM monitor console and the response RDM packet is converted to the DMX512 frame for control DMX512 client devices. This is the closed loop control model which uses the bidirectional convertibility between RDM packet and DMX512 frame. The proposed method not only upgrades the feedback control function for the old DMX512 system without changing the existent infrastructure, but also solves compatible problems between new RDM devices and old DMX512 devices and gives the low cost solution for extending DMX512 universe.

  • This study researches the application methods of Wearable Technology (WT) realizing the convergence of Design and Electronics that could broaden the fashion expression boundaries to correspond to current convergence trends. For this, students in the Department of Fashion design and the Department of Electronics conducted an oriented convergence-design-workshop. The initial step of the workshop, included a lecture on WT including existing cases and brainstorming. As a result, two types of concepts; 'Light' using the lighting technology and 'Complex' using transforming and lighting technologies together were generated. Designers created garments that did not externally expose digital devices and engineers then configured basic systems with the minimum size of the devices applying. At the development stage, designers constructed internal structures of garments which do not influence the comfort situation and activities of those wearing the garments. Engineers then adjusted and finished the fashion prototypes' whole WT systems drawing on designers' guidelines. As the result of this study's workshop, the fashion prototypes were extracted by collaboration according to WT concepts; therefore, there could be the promising potential to broaden fashion expression boundaries through the application of WT.

  • A study was conducted to use soil color obtained from digital im ages as an indicator of soil water content. Digital images of Jumoonjin standard sand with five different water contents were captured under nine different lighting conditions. Through digital image processing, the soil color of the sample was obtained based on the CIELAB color system, and the effect of lighting conditions and water content on the soil color was analyzed. The results indicated that L* showed a high correlation with illuminance, whereas a* and b* showed a high correlation with color temperature. As the water content increased, L*, which represents the brightness of the soil color, decreased, and a* and b* increased. Therefore, the soil color changed from green and blue to red and yellow. Based on the regression analysis results of lighting conditions, water content, and soil color, a water content predicting method based on the soil color of silica-based sand photographed under irregular light conditions was proposed. The proposed method can predict the water content with a m axim um error of 0.29%.

  • The size and power consumption of digital circuits including the dimming circuit part will increase for high-performance solid state lighting (SSL) systems in the future. This study examined the low-power consumption of adiabatic dynamic CMOS logic (ADCL) due to the principles of adiabatic charging. Furthermore, the designed low-power ADCL digital pulse width modulation (PWM) was optimized for SSL dimming systems. For this purpose, an ADCL digital 3-bit PWM was optimized in two steps. In the first step, the architecture of the ADCL digital 3-bit PWM was miniaturized. In the second step, the clock cut-off circuit was designed and added to the ADCL PWM. As a result, compared to the original configuration, 60 transistors and 15 capacitors of ADCL digital 3-bit PWM were reduced for miniaturization. Moreover, the clock cut-off circuit, which controls wake-up and sleep mode of ADCL D-FFs, was designed. The power consumption of an optimized ADCL digital PWM for all bit patterns decreased by 54 %.

  • In this paper we propose a dark-field digital holographic microscopy system based on 360-degree oblique illumination. This setup is constructed without using a dark-field objective. The principle of 360-degree oblique illumination of vortex beam and dark-field digital holographic microscopy are introduced theoretically and experimentally. By analyzing the reconstructed image of a dark-field digital hologram of a USAF 1951 target, it is proved that the imaging resolution can be improved by this method. And also, comparison and analysis are made on the reconstructed image of a bright-dark field digital hologram of a pumpkin stem slice, the result shows that the imaging contrast is also enhanced with this method, and it is effective for dark-field digital holographic microscopy imaging of large transparent biological samples.

  • Existing outdoor lighting evaluation methods for the city beautification at night, the measurements are limited by one point to analyze the photometric data. However, this methods could not represent the diversity of photometric result from the distance. This study aims to propose the new outdoor lighting evaluation method of structure surface luminance in accordance with the measuring distance. For the purpose, the field measurement and simulation of an illuminated structure were conducted by CS-100, Digital Photometry Instrument ProMetric 1400, and the Lightscape v 3.2 from the distance of 100[m], 300[m], 500[m]. The result shows that evaluation of the surface luminance by the distance should be measured from about 100[m] of an illuminated object for getting the familiar result from computer simulation.

  • Due to the popularity of digital cameras, there are lots of studies based on ISP(Image Signal Process) and the image correction applications which can easily use for users are being developed. Specially AWB(Automatic White Balance) and Auto exposure are the most interesting fields in ISP function, and they are well used to increase the quality of image. Principles of camera and lighting in 3D program are made based on real camera and lighting. But the functions of automatic exposure and AWB Which are operated in real camera don't work in 3D program. The color correction of images need expertise, it is true that the functions of compositing program are more difficult than the general correction way of digital image. Specially in case of students who studies animation at the university, they make the animation with compositing and rendering without color correction. Thus this research proposed 3D image making process which make to increase the quality of animation, even though the layman can easily correct the color using functions of digital image correction.

  • Owing to the strike of lighting a breakage of insulator would happen. This breakage may give rise to many problems such as increment of reclosing failure, a drop for reliance and a hardship of maintenance and repair. To solve those problems, this study develop a protected equipment for insulator which is suitable to 22.9kV distribution line towers and is purposed to investigation for a proper adaption, protection efficiency of insulator and effect of adaption.

  • TheReviser is a digital document revision application on a projection display, which allows us to interact a digital document with the same gestures used for paper documents revision. To enable these interactions, TheReviser should detect foreground objects such as hands or pens on a projection display, and should spot and recognize gesture commands from continuous movements of a user. To detect foreground objects from a complex background in various lighting conditions, we perform geometry and color calibration between a captured image and a frame buffer image. TheReviser uses an HMM-based gesture recognition method Experimental results show that the proposed application recognizes user's gestures on average 93.22% in test gesture sequences.
