An Optimal Framework of Video Adaptation and Its Application to Rate Adaptation Transcoding

  • The adaptation of video according to the heterogeneous and dynamic resource constraints on networks and devices, as well as on user preferences, is a promising approach for universal access and consumption of video content. For optimal adaptation that satisfies the constraints while maximizing the utility that results from the adapted video, it is necessary to devise a systematic way of selecting an appropriate adaptation operation among multiple feasible choices. This paper presents a general conceptual framework that allows the formulation of various adaptations as constrained optimization problems by modeling the relations among feasible adaptation operations, constraints, and utilities. In particular, we present the feasibility of the framework by applying it to a use case of rate adaptation of MPEG-4 video with an explicit modeling of adaptation employing a combination of frame dropping and discrete cosine transform coefficient dropping, constraint, utility, and their mapping relations. Furthermore, we provide a description tool that describes the adaptation-constraint-utility relations as a functional form referred to as a utility function, which has been accepted as a part of the terminal and network quality of service tool in MPEG-21 Digital Item Adaptation (DIA).

  • The ministry of security and public administration provide the secure coding guide that can remove the vulnerability of applications and defend cyber attack from the coding step because cyber attack like the hacking about 75% abusing the vulnerability of applications. In this paper we find the oder of priority and did the criticality analysis used by AHP about 7 items in the secure coding which the ministry of security and public administration provide. The result is decided that 'exception handling' is the most important item. There is no secure coding items in software supervision currently, therefore the result of the research will make good use audit standards in the process of the software development.

  • There are many problems that must solve to construct next generation high-speed communication network. Among these, item that must consider basically is characteristics analysis of traffic that nows to network Traffic characteristics of many Internet services that is offered present have shown that network traffic exhibits at a wide range of scals-self-similarity. Self-similarity is expressed by long term dependency, this is contradictory concept with Poisson model that have relativity short term dependency. Therefore, first of all, for design and dimensioning of next generation communication network, traffic model that are reflected burstiness and self-similarity is required. Here self-similarity can be characterized by Hurst parameter. In this paper, the calculation equation is derived considering queueing delay and self-similarity of data traffic art compared with simulation results.

Multimedia File Format Based on MPEG-21 (MPEG-21 기반 멀티미디어 파일 포맷)

  • In this paper, we propose the structure of multimedia file format based on MPEG-21 standard and the method to address a media resource within the file. The proposed multimedia file format supports the backward compatibility with MPEG-4 and the efficient addressing a media resource from a Digital Item that is XML-based MPEG-21 content. Also, the proposed multimedia file format can provide the functionality to package various types of media contents structurally and efficiently in digital broadcasting, Internet, and wireless environment. In addition, it can be a base model for multimedia file format that can be used for many different purposes such as integration and usage of metadata and multimedia contents.

  • The generalization of social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic has rapidly spread non-face-to-face services, accelerating the speed of non-face-to-face digital conversion technology. The importance of telemedicine, a remote service, has been rekindled in the wearable technology including the medical industry. In a situation where it is not easy for any company to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic, it is a time when collaboration within the industry or between competitors is necessary. In addition to the digital-based online exhibition hall using AR-VR-MR technology, which is a major core technology of the future industry, virtual stores that can receive services such as actual shopping should be actively used. Paradoxically COVID-19 will provide new opportunities to reshape and reconnect the future of the textile and fashion industry. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the current status of wearable technology products being developed as fashion items for the prevention of COVID-19 and analyze their characteristics. This study results can be used as basic data for future research on the fashion industry and education.

A study on Korean fashion style expressed in YouTube content (유튜브 콘텐츠에 표현된 한국적 패션 스타일)

  • The study aims to define the Korean Wave as global attention to Korea's unique culture and consider the specificity of traditional Korean fashion images in Korean Wave content. The research method of this study is a case study through literature research. In order to collect Korean Wave content on YouTube, 24 channels with the highest number of views were selected from among content uploaded from 2018 to the present through keyword search, and up to two channels with high views showing traditional Korean fashion images. As a result of selecting the analysis target, 41 Korean Wave videos and 368 costumes were selected and analyzed based on fashion style elements, including item, color, detail, motif, styling, silhouette, and accessory. As a result of the study, music, broadcast, fashion, and other content were found in the Korean Wave content fields in which Korean fashion style appeared, and the characteristics of each field were derived. Music content was characterized by fashion style excluding stereotypes about traditional Korean costume, broadcast and fashion content was characterized by fashion style inherited from traditional costume, and other content was characterized by symbolic fashion style of traditional culture. This study is meaningful in revealing the formative characteristics of traditional Korean design elements recently shared online through the study of Korean traditional fashion images in Korean Wave content.

Developing Formal Framework for Cross-Platform Based Mobile Game Process (크로스 플랫폼 기반의 모바일게임 개발을 위한 정형 프레임워크 개발)

  • With the recent popularity of smartphones, many games are being developed on mobile-based platforms. As a result, it has brought about many changes in the way mobile game is developed. Especially mobile platforms, which are divided into Android and IOS, can now be applied to each platform without additional development through cross-platform. This means that it is necessary to move away from the method of developing each using separate development tools and implement the development process through cross-platform unique features. In this paper, we studied various methods to increase the productivity and quality of game development for the development of mobile games, and a formal framework considering the development process was developed. The framework consists of process, development domain, and platform support parts, each playing its own role. Items of the detailed framework must be reflected so that detailed response data for efficient application of game development can be established in actual mobile game development. The framework was developed by approaching it from two domains, the need for a framework and the framework implementation of key item response data.

Study on Establishment of Cadastral Surveying Fee System Suitable for Digital Cadastral Management Environment (디지털 지적관리 환경에 적합한 지적측량수수료 체계 확립 연구)

  • The current cadastral business is being operated by conversion to a digital cadastral management system through computerized registers (land register and forest land register) and maps (cadastral map and forest cadastral map). Digital surveying methods, such as GPS surveying and electronic plane table surveying, are also used for cadastral surveying. At present, fees for cadastral surveying are calculated based on a standard pursuant to the Construction Standard Production Unit System and an announcement by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transportation. In many cases, however, the cadastral surveying fee system announced at present fail to apply the digitalized environment depending on the item. This study sought to analyze the cadastral surveying fee system that requires improvement in the rapidly changing digital cadastral management environment, and to prepare a basis to establish a cadastral surveying fee system suitable to the digital environment by suggesting an improvement method for such system. As a result of the study, the following suggestions were made: a method of changing to terms suitable to the digital environment based on the current status analysis; preparation of a new estimation system regarding new estimation items; and re-survey of an estimation system of cadastral confirmation survey and preparation of an estimation system.

  • 디지털 기술의 발달로 콘텐츠 서비스 방식에 대한 융복합화 현상이 두드러진다. 플랫폼, 네트워크, 디바이스 등의 발달과 함께 이루어지는 서비스 방식의 다양화는 콘텐츠 제작 및 소비에 있어 사용자의 참여를 가속화시킨다. 최근 들어 동영상 콘텐츠에 양방향성의 특징을 반영하는 서비스가 주목받고 있으며, 이에 따라 양방향 동영상의 확장된 비즈니스 모델을 고려한 신규 서비스 운용 모델이 요구된다. 이에 본 논문은 전자상거래를 지원하기 위한 기본 비즈니스 모델인 Imprimatur Business Model을 기반으로 양방향성이 반영된 동영상 비즈니스 모델을 재정의하고 그 운용에 필요한 구성 요소를 도출하였다. 서비스 운용 모델은 생성, 처리, 소비의 단계를 갖는다. 각 단계별로 세부 운용 요소를 설계하여 운용 시스템과의 연결성을 고려하였다. 이는 XML 다이어그램으로 표현되었으며 디지털 아이템의 생성, 처리, 소비에 필요한 기능을 제어하고 처리할 수 있도록 하기 위해 각 단계별 생성자(creator)와 핸들러(handler)를 정의하였다.

Utility-Based MPEG-21 Video Adaptation for Universal Multimedia Access (UMA를 위한 유틸리티 기반 MPEG-21 비디오 적응)

  • Video adaptation in response to dynamic resource conditions and user preferences is required as a key technology to enable universal multimedia access (UMA) through heterogeneous networks by a multitude of devices in a seamless way. Although many adaptation techniques exist, selections of appropriate adaptations among multiple choices are often ad hoc. To provide a systematic solution, we present a general conceptual framework to model video entity, adaptation, resource, utility, and relations among them. It allows for formulation of various adaptation problems as resource-constrained utility maximization. We apply the framework to a practical case of dynamic bit rate adaptation. Furthermore, we present a description tool, which has been accepted as a part of the MPEG-21 Digital Item Adaptation (DIA), along with a brief overview of the .elated descriptors to support terminal and network quality of service (QoS).
