A study was conducted to use soil color obtained from digital im ages as an indicator of soil water content. Digital images of Jumoonjin standard sand with five different water contents were captured under nine different lighting conditions. Through digital image processing, the soil color of the sample was obtained based on the CIELAB color system, and the effect of lighting conditions and water content on the soil color was analyzed. The results indicated that L* showed a high correlation with illuminance, whereas a* and b* showed a high correlation with color temperature. As the water content increased, L*, which represents the brightness of the soil color, decreased, and a* and b* increased. Therefore, the soil color changed from green and blue to red and yellow. Based on the regression analysis results of lighting conditions, water content, and soil color, a water content predicting method based on the soil color of silica-based sand photographed under irregular light conditions was proposed. The proposed method can predict the water content with a m axim um error of 0.29%.

A degradation of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in a digital moving target indicator system (DMTI System) can be Improved by weighting of the DMTI output pulses before the integration process. and it Is shown that the signal-to-noise ratio Is unproved as the nunlber of delay line cancellers. It is Known that signal-to-noise ratio obtained with optimum weighting is greater than that obtained with binomial weighting. An improvement performance of the signal-to-noise ratio for each case is presented through the results or a computter simulation.

Purpose: This study was performed to evaluate DITI (Digital Infrared Thermographic Imaging)'s potential for diagnosis and indicator of abdominal cold hypersensitivity treatment from the clinical case study. Methods: The patient was a 35-year-old woman who was suffered by general coldness, sweating and general pain. The patient was treated by Herb medicine, Acupuncture treatment, Moxa treatment and Physical Treatment. The progress of symptoms was evaluated by checking the change of VAS, and inspecting the DITI. We studied the statistical significance from the difference of DITI results before and after treatment by paired T-test using SPSS windows (version 12.0). Results: The general coldness, sweating and general pain of this patient have declined, especially the abdominal coldness improvement showing. As a results, the temperature of four abdominal sites(GV4,6,12,17) after treatment were statistically higher than those before treatment. With comparison of Indang, DITI difference of abdominal sites before and after treatment were statistically significant from paired T-tests. Conclusion: The results suggest that DITI can be used for the diagnosis and assessment of abdominal cold hypersensitivity treatment.
The wavy extinction of quartz can be used as a standard indicator showing the degree of rock deformation. To determine the degree of rock deformation, the intensity of wavy extinction (IWE) of quartz was measured using petroggraphic microscope, digital camera, and NIH image. In this study, this method was applied to the Cheongsan porphyritic granite, Cheongsan two mica granite, and Baekrok granite to investigate the deformation intensity of Cheongsan area. NIH Image data show a high-grade deformation in the vicinity of the strike-slip fault (between Cheongsan granite and Baekrok granite) and the unconformity (between Cheongsan granite and Youngdong basin). Thus, the main deformation in these areas is most likely to be concentrated on the faults that generate Yeongdong basin and the strike slip faults between Cheongsan granite and Baekrok granite.

Optical Color Corescanner firstly developed by DMT-GeoTec, Germany and further upgraded through the Korea-Germany joint project is capable of duplicating the core surfaces. The tool uses a digital CCD line camera. As the core is rotated by an electric motor, the camera scans the uppermost line, everytime with a circumferential increment of up to 0.05mm(20pixels/mm) and hence a complete 360$^{\circ}$ unwrapped image(core image) is produced. This paper illustrated diverse research benefits of such core images from several test sites in our country. All scanned images could be stored as a data-base one and easily used with software facilities \circled1 to evaluate a percental distribution of mineral components or grain size etc. not only for the rock classification but also for e.g. the assessment of building stones, \circled2 to study potential reservoirs as a hydrocarbon indicator using ultraviolet fluorescence reflection from cores, \circled3 to facilitate the qualitative and quantitative analysis of fractures, \circled4 to evaluate the fractures and thin bedded reservoirs using spectral color responses. Based on abundant scanning experiments, it would seem that this imaging work should lead to reflecting the future trend in underground survey toward a more comprehensive understanding of the properties and behaviors of in situ rocks.

King Sejong's Striking water-clock which brought in use on the first of July in 1434 was mainly composed of timekeeping and time announcing parts signalling twelve double-hours, and five night-watches and night-watch-divisions automatically by means of ball-operating jackworks. The clock was arranged with dual timekeeping system, the one for a full day(twelve double-hours) and the other for five night-watches achieving twelve double-hours and one-hundred interval horary systems. The vessels were arrayed in inflow-type water-clock, a large reservoir on the highest story, a constant-level tank for supplying water to the measuring vessel evenly in the middle, and the lowest tank to receive water from the above constant-level tank. An indicator-rod on the float was raised upwards depending on the water-level increase to show timing scales and also to release small bronze balls from the ball-rack mechanisms implanted on the measuring vessel to signal timing intervals.

This study examines the poverty indicators in Northeast region of Thailand by adopting the global Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) methodology and the national survey of Minimum Basic Needs (MBN) of Thailand. Data are collected from three different districts in Khon Kaen province namely: Khok Po Chai, Sam Sung, and Nam Pong. The sample size is 187 households. Data analysis uses Ordinary Least Square (OLS) regression approach and includes 7 dimensions of poverty (health, environment, education, economy, Thai value, asset? empowerment, and digital literacy) with a total of 41 indicators. This study has found that poverty indicators in Khon Kaen province remains centered around the aspects of health and employment dimensions. While a change of family structure in the Thai society since 1960s reduces the family size, household saving substantially increases over the years. The effects of health dimension in poverty, on the other hand, appears on the other poverty dimension of Thai value, which include (1) a bad living habit of head of household (smoke or alcohol consumption) that links with illness and disease, (2) religious practice, and (3) chronic illness. Lastly, there are income gaps of different careers in the area, which suggests the issue of income inequality.

This paper presents a fast received signal strength indicator (RSSI) circuit for wireless communication application. The proposed circuit is developed using power detectors and an analog-to-digital converter to achieve a fast settling time. The power detector is consisted of a novel logarithmic variable gain amplifier (VGA), a peak detector, and a comparator in a closed loop. The VGA achieved a wide logarithmic gain range in a closed loop form for stable operation. For the peak detector, a fast settling time and small ripple are obtained using the orthogonal characteristics of quadrature signals. In $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS process, the RSSI value settles down in $20{\mu}s$ with power consumption of 20 mW, and the maximum ripple of the RSSI is 30 mV. The proposed RSSI circuit is fabricated with a personal handy-phone system transceiver. The active area is $0.8{\times}0.2\;mm^2$.

In Oriental medicine, the status of a tongue is the important indicator to diagnose one's health like physiological and clinicopathological changes of inner parts of the body. The method of tongue diagnosis is not only convenient but also non-invasive and widely used in Oriental medicine. However, tongue diagnosis is affected by examination circumstances a lot like a light source, patient's posture and doctor's condition. To develop an automatic tongue diagnosis system for an objective and standardized diagnosis, segmenting a tongue is inevitable but difficult since the colors of a tongue, lips and skin in a mouth are similar. The proposed method includes preprocessing, graph-based over-segmentation, detecting positions with a local minimum over shading, detecting edge with color difference and estimating edge geometry from the probable structure of a tongue, where preprocessing performs down-sampling to reduce computation time, histogram equalization and edge enhancement. A tongue was segmented from a face image with a tongue from a digital tongue diagnosis system by the proposed method. According to three oriental medical doctors' evaluation, it produced the segmented region to include effective information and exclude a non-tongue region. It can be used to make an objective and standardized diagnosis.
$PM_{10}$ concentrations were measured In underground stores located In 4 major cities, Chunchon, Wonju, Donghae and Sockcho, In Kangwon-Do using scattering light Integated type digital dust indicator. Per- sonal exposure to $PM_{10}$ for two women(housekeeper and gaduate students and a man(undergraduate student) were measured also. The dimensional conversion factors for mass concentrations(K) showed some difference among un- derground stores which were 2.0, 2.7, 3.4, 2.6 mg/$m^2$.CPM In chunchon, Wonju, Donghae and Sockcho, respectively. Average PMlo concentrations at underground stores were 178mg/$m^2$ in Chunchon, 141mg$m^2$ in Wonju, 125 mg/$m^2$ Donghe and 59mg/$m^2$) Sockcho. The portion of $PM_{10}$ In total suspended particles was about 50~60% as deight The exposure of graduate student, housekeeper and undergraduate to $PM_{10}$ during 12 hours were 1004. 3 (mg/$m^2$) .hr, 907.0 (mg/$m^2$) hr and 691.2 (mg/$m^2$) hr, respectively. Personal exposure to $PM_{10}$ showed very different according to heP activity pattern and they had more than 90 % of their $PM_{10}$ exposure at Indoor environment.
