  • This study introduces trends on silver care implemented with the fourth industrial revolution technology, and discusses the use of digital technology for elderly health and rehabilitation by reviewing relevant literature to examine and present directions for future digital-based silver care commercialization. First, health smart home, which is a smart residential service available through digital technology or IT technology that supports independent living in your home, is available. Second, there are technical services using artificial intelligence(AI) and robots. Robots based on advanced intelligence can serve as an assistant for the health and rehabilitation of senior citizens by supporting services that enable the daily lives of senior, checking their health conditions, and high-quality medical care. For the commercialization of these silver care systems, information and services appropriate to the current situation, such as the physical ability and health status of the elderly, should be provided, and it would be desirable to gradually expand the use of essential technology to reflect the needs of the elderly in use so that the digital alienated.

Effect of Digital Health Interventions on Psychotic Symptoms among Persons with Severe Mental Illness in Community: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (디지털 헬스 중재가 지역사회 중증정신질환자의 정신병적 증상에 미치는 효과: 체계적 문헌고찰 및 메타분석)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of digital health interventions on the psychotic symptoms among people with severe mental illness in the community. Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted in accordance with the Cochrane Intervention Research Systematic Review Manual and PRISMA. A literature search was conducted of published randomized controlled trials (RCTs) for digital health interventions from January 2022 to April 2022. RevMan software 5.3 was used for quality assessment and meta-analysis. Results: A total 14 studies out of 9,864 studies were included in the review, and 13 were included in meta-analysis. The overall effect size of digital health interventions on psychotic symptoms was - 0.21 (95% CI = - 0.32 to - 0.10). Sub-analysis showed that the reduction of the psychotic symptoms was effective in the schizophrenia spectrum group (SMD = - 0.22; 95% CI = - 0.36 to - 0.09), web (SMD = - 0.41; 95% CI = - 0.82 to 0.01), virtual reality (SMD = - 0.33; 95% CI = - 0.56 to - 0.10), mobile (SMD = - 0.15; 95% CI = - 0.28 to - 0.03), intervention period of less than 3 months (SMD = - 0.23; 95% CI = - 0.35 to - 0.11), and non-treatment group (SMD = - 0.23; 95% CI = - 0.36 to - 0.11). Conclusion: These findings suggest that digital health interventions alleviate psychotic symptoms in patients with severe mental illnesses. However, well-designed digital health studies should be conducted in the future.

Study on the Correlates of Digital Disparity among Older Seoul Residents (서울시 고령자의 정보격차 관련 요인에 관한 연구)

  • The use of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) is closely related to the improvement of health and quality of life in later life. The elderly in general, however, face difficulty in adapting to ICT. The purpose of this study is to examine the social disparities and determinants in the use of information of the elderly residing in seoul. The data is based on the "2015-2016 Seoul Survey on Elderly Health and Functional Assessment", which include a total of 1,605 people aged 60 to 89. The results of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the older, women, the lower educated, and those with restricted activity or poorer health were found to be the significant determinants of the digital poverty among older people. The results call for special attention to disparity within the older group to solve digital divide issues.

A study on Common Errors in Digital Impressions: (An Example of CEREC$^{(R)}$ AC) (디지털 인상 채득 시 흔히 발생하는 오류에 관한 연구 - CEREC$^{(R)}$ AC의 사례 중심으로 -)

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was a quantitative evaluation of common errors in digital impression procedure using CEREC$^{(R)}$ AC system. Methods: Two-hundreds digital impression data comprising 174 inlays, 26 onlays by CEREC$^{(R)}$ AC in-office CAD/CAM system were obtained from a dental clinic. One evaluator assessed errors of the digital impression data and divided into five categories of errors: inappropriate scanner positioning (ISP), improper handling with a scanner (IHS), irregular powder arrangement (IPA), improper cavity preparation (ICP), and insufficient scanned data (ISD). Results: The most common errors were IPA(21%), and ISP and ISD were followed by 17% respectively. IHS was found in 14.5% of all digital impression data. ICP comprising only 6.5% was the rarest. Conclusion: Most errors were due to inaccurate manipulation with an intraoral scanner or improper cavity preparation for scanning. A deliberate manipulation to prevent common errors mentioned may deliver an optimal result in the digital impression procedure.

Investment and Economic Ripple Effects from Fostering the Digital Treatment Technology Industry (디지털 치료기술 산업 육성에 따른 투자와 경제적 파급효과)

  • The digital treatment technology industry is one of the core fostering industries of the Moon Jae-in government along with the global trend. The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the investment and economic ripple effect on the related industries. To this end, we used the industry-related table, which is the actual measurement data for 2015 that the Bank of Korea actually measured and released every 5 years in 2019. The digital treatment technology industry was not clearly classified within Korea's industrial classification system, so the contents of the industry-related survey were analyzed, and the digital treatment technology industry was reclassified and then analyzed. As a result of the analysis, it was analyzed that the production induction effect of the digital treatment technology-related industry in 2015 was 1.770, the value-added induction effect was 0.875, and the employment induction effect was 19.128, which was higher than that of other industries in Korea. As a result of the analysis of the economic ripple effect (scenario 1), the production inducing effect was about 370 billion won, the added value inducing effect was about 185 billion won, and the employment inducing effect was 4,044 people. The results of this study are expected to play a large role in economic revitalization as the effect of inducing production, increasing employment, and creating added value through fostering the digital treatment technology industry is expected to play a large role in activating the economy. It is expected to play a large role in providing central medical services. Therefore, it is expected that policy support for revitalizing the digital treatment technology industry through active investment support and tax benefits from the government to foster the digital treatment technology industry is necessary.

  • Digital twin technology can provide significant value for the prognostics and health management (PHM) of critical plant components by improving insight into system design and operating conditions. Digital twinning of systems can be utilized for anomaly detection, diagnosis and the estimation of the system's remaining useful life in order to optimize operations and maintenance processes in a nuclear plant. In this regard, a conceptual framework for the application of digital twin technology for the prognosis of Control Element Drive Mechanism (CEDM), and a data-driven approach to anomaly detection using coil current profile are presented in this study. Health management of plant components can capitalize on the data and signals that are already recorded as part of the monitored parameters of the plant's instrumentation and control systems. This work is focused on the development of machine learning algorithm and workflow for the analysis of the CEDM using the recorded coil current data. The workflow involves features extraction from the coil-current profile and consequently performing both clustering and classification algorithms. This approach provides an opportunity for health monitoring in support of condition-based predictive maintenance optimization and in the development of the CEDM digital twin model for improved plant safety and availability.

The use of digital health care for the relief of depression in the elderly: A systematic review and meta-analysis (노인의 우울 완화를 위한 디지털 헬스케어의 활용: 체계적 문헌고찰 및 메타분석)

  • This study comprised a systematic review and meta-analysis to determine how digital health care to relieve depression of the elderly. The CINAHL, Embase, Medline, DBpia, KERIS, KISS and RISS were used. As a result of the systematic search, a total of 4,071 studies were assessed and six studies were ultimately selected based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Of these, a total of five studies were available for meta-analysis; the effect size was calculated. The effect size of digital health care was statistically significant in reducing depression(SMD=-4.73, 95% CI -7.44 to -2.01, Z=3.41, p=.0007). Since only web-based programs are included in the analysis among types of digital health care, we suggest that we consider ways to reduce depression in the elderly by applying various digital health care in the future.

  • Mammography equipment is an essential detector for making an early diagnosis of female's breast lesion. Recently, in most hospitals, a digital mammography detector is used due to the wide and consistent supply of digital mammography equipment. However, the average effective radiation is increasing due to the indiscreet use of CR or DR mammography. The purpose of this study is to recognize the possible indirect radiation damage, which can be occurred due to an excessive effective exposure of radiation, by evaluating spacial radiation rate of the digital mammography detector used for female patient. Consequently, the high mount of spacial radiation showed digital mammography equipment on the horizontal direction. Considering the result, digital mammography equipment should be installed by avoiding along the horizontal direction.
