Study for improvement of zero-cross detector of control element drive mechanism control system in PWR (경수로 제어봉구동장치제어계통의 영점위상탐지기 성능개선에 관한 연구)

  • Zero-Cross Detector makes pilot signal to control the power to CEDM(Control Element Drive Mechanism). Existing Zero-Cross Detectors has had a problem which can cause unexpected reactor trip resulted from fluctuating frequency of input signal coming from M/G Set. The existing Zero-Cross Detector can't work properly when power frequency is varying because it was designed to work under stable M/G Set operation, and produces wrong pilot signal and output voltage. In this report the Zero-Cross Detector is improved to resolve voltage fluctuating problem by using new devices such as digital noise filtering circuit, variable cycle compensator and alarm circuit. And through the performance verification it shows that new circuit is better than old one. If suggested detector is applied to plant, it is possible to use it under House Load Operation because stable voltage can be generated by new Zero-Cross Detector.

  • This paper presents a new control scheme for a DVR(Dynamic Voltage Restorer) system consisting of series voltage source PWM converters. To control negative sequence component of source voltage the detection of negative sequence is necessary. Generally, filtering process is used tn do that. Through this filtering process has some problems. This paper suggests a new method of separating positive and negative sequences. This control system is designed using differential controllers and digital filters, and positive sequence and negative sequences are controlled respectively. The performance of the presented controller and scheme are confirmed through simulation and actual experiment by 2.5kVA prototype DVR.

Mobile Web User Interface Patterns for Screen Usage and User Input (화면 활용과 사용자 입력을 위한 모바일 웹 사용자 인터페이스 패턴)

  • Mobile web applications are different from desktop web applications because of their small screen size and small user input devices. Therefore user interface designers have spent their effort and time to re-design the user interface of mobile web applications to meet these differences. In this paper, we introduce five user interface patterns for mobile web applications to reduce their effort and time. Two of them are for utilizing small screen size efficiently, and they are space overloading pattern and data filtering pattern. These patterns enable designers to reduce screen usage. The other three patterns - data suggestion pattern, input reuse pattern, and incremental data input pattern - are for helping users' data input on mobile devices. These three patterns enable users to reduce direct data input. Our work will help user interface designers develop mobile web interface to utilize screen space efficiently and get data with less errors and less efforts from users.

Orthogonal Filter Design Using Improved Fast Wash Transform Algorithm (개선된 고속월쉬변환 알고리즘을 이용한 직교필터 설계)

  • This paper developed improved fast Walsh transform based on dyadic-ordered fast Walsh transform, then regenerated signal flow graph of improved fast Walsh transform, and used it for digital filtering, and then measured fundamental frequency and harmonics for current and voltage signals of power system. Using the improved fast Walsh transform, we present a new algorithm which reduces the computational amount, and it can consequently calculate the real and imaginary components for current and voltage signals of power system in sampling intervals. The calculation amount is reduced to 2(N-1) at N samples to measure full harmonics using developed algorithm. When, in single harmonic measuring, it needs only 2(log2N-1) additions and subtractions.

Hybrid filter for noise reduction (잡음제거를 위한 하이브리드 필터)

  • In this paper, we propose a hybrid filter for noise reduction. The proposed method adjusts rational filtering direction according to an edge in the image using median filtered data. Rational filter modulates the coefficients of a linear lowpass filter to limit its action in presence of image details. By the ratio of polynomials in the input variables, rational filter reduces noise adaptively. Median filter is widely used to reduce impulse noise, but removes some details for highly corrupted images. Also, desirable details are removed when the window size is large. Our proposed algorithm combines rational filter and median filter. Thus, proposed method not only preserves edge, but also reduces noise in uniform region. Experimental results show that our proposed method has better quality than those by existing median and rational filtering methods.

  • In this paper, a real-time digital kalman filtering algorithm is used to obtain the reference estimation of the control current for shunt active power filter. This algorithm provides the best estimate of the fundamental and harmonic frequency components from the sampled values of the line current or voltage waveform. By adopting of the digital Kalman filtering algorithm, the structure of the control algorithm eliminates the need of a Phase locked loop(PLL) for the synchronization of the reference signal used in the compensation and it not sensitive to the distortion of the line voltage. The effectiveness of the algorithm is confirmed by the computer simulations.

  • DSP based on a 8 bit microprocessor was studied for ECG and PPG signals. Digital filtering has an advantage of reducing hardware components in system-on-chip design. However, low resolution such as in 8 bit data has much difficulties in DSP. We demonstrated a comparable performance of DSP filtering compared with analog filters.

  • A real-time, continuous-scale image interpolation method is proposed based on a bilinear interpolation with directionally adaptive low-pass filtering. The proposed algorithm was optimized for hardware implementation. The ordinary bi-linear interpolation method has blocking artifacts. The proposed algorithm solves this problem using directionally adaptive low-pass filtering. The algorithm can also solve the severe blurring problem by selectively choosing low-pass filter coefficients. Therefore, the proposed interpolation algorithm can realize a high-quality image scaler for a range of imaging systems, such as digital cameras, CCTV and digital flat panel displays.

  • The standard approach consists of using correlation of orthogonal functions in digital filtering, such as well-known FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) and FWT(Fast Walsh Transform). But it needs much calculations, multiplications and additions. The calculation amount is m $log_2m$ in the general case. Therefore, this requires high speed processors to calculate in real time, which can calculate floating point. This study developed improved fast Walsh transform based on dyadic-ordered fast Walsh transform, then regenerated signal flow graph of improved fast Walsh transform, and used it for digital filtering, and then measured fundamental frequency and harmonics for current and voltage signals of power system.

Physical Modeling of a Sanjo Gayageum (산조 가야금의 물리적 모델링)

  • In this paper we developed the Physical modeling of the Sanio Gayageum using the improved digital waveguide theory. The frequency characteristics of the Gayageum body is implemented by an inverse filtering and the impulse response of the body. We obtained the synthesis sounds of the unit sound for the Gayageum using the simulation of the straight-line fits by the changes of the fundamental frequencies depending on the Amok location. Finally. we could obtain the virtual Sanio Gayageum sounds similar to the actual Gayageum by tuning the Amok positions.
