  • Protective relay play a crucial role in the proper operation of a power system, and the reliable transfer of electrical power. This paper deals with the design and implementation of a digital protective relay on a single chip. Implementation on the FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) of the chip of digital protective relay. This protective relaying chip monitors the frequency and the voltage and current of the power system. And report the voltage, the current. the frequency, active power and reactive power.

A Design Methodology of Digital Controller Considering Time Delay Effect for a Modular Multilevel Converter VSC HVDC System (모듈형 멀티레벨 전압형 HVDC 시스템을 위한 시간 지연을 고려한 디지털 제어기의 설계)

  • A modular multilevel converter is widely adapted for a high-voltage direct current power transmission system. This study proposes a design methodology for a novel digital control that mitigates the negative effects caused by time delay, including communication transport delay for a modular multilevel converter. The modeling and negative effect of time delay are analyzed theoretically in a frequency domain, and its compensation methodology based on an inverse model is described fully with practical considerations. The proposed methodology is verified through several simulation results using a modular 21-level converter system.

  • This paper presents the new control strategy that can minimizes the torque ripple by considering the magnetic nonlinearity and phase torque averlapping intervals, and describes the whole SRM drive system using proposed control method implemented by DSP(Digital Signal Processor). To do this, inductance and torque are, at first, measured according to the variation of rotor position angle while current is kept constant at predetermined several values. From these measured values, the entire inductance and torque for any current and rotor position are inferred by using neural network. And the waveform of the reference phase torque is determined for the torque ripple to be minimized considering the torque overlap between phases. The controller is designed for the actual torque obtained by the inferred torque look-up table using measured current and rotor position angle to track the predetermined reference phase torque by delta modulation technique. To perform a real time processing and ensure the reliability of the controller, DSP is implemented.

  • This paper proposes maximum torque control of IPMSM drive using optimal current. This control method is applicable over the entire speed range which considered the limits of the inverter's current and voltage rated value. For each control mode, a condition that determines the optimal d-axis current $i_d$ for maximum torque operation is derived. This paper considers the design and implementation of novel technique of high performance speed control for IPMSM using multi-MFC and ANN controller. Also, this paper proposes maximum control of IPMSM drive using approximation method. This method is decreased the burden of digital signal process(DSP) in calculation of optimal current. This paper proposes the analysis results to verify the effectiveness of the MFC and ANN controller. Also it verifies the validity of maximum torque control of IPMSM drive with optimal current.

  • For the life extension of Jeju thermal power plant, digital PWM excitation system was replaced by KEPRI. This system consist of TMR(Triple Modular Redundant) controller, dual PWM power inverter for field current control and MMI etc. The Performance test during the commissioning verified the reliability of digital PWM excitation system and recently, this system has been operated successfully.

  • In Current Digital $C^3$ Devices(Communication, Computer, Consumer electronic devices), Reed-Solomon encoder is essentially used. For example we should use RS encoder in DSP LSI of CDMA Mobile and Base station modem, in controller LSI of DVD Recorder and that of computer memory(HDD or SSD memory). In this paper, we propose new economical multiplierless (also without divider) RS encoder design method. The encoder has Arbitrary parity positions.

  • In this paper, a controller design for brushless linear motor is proposed. The designed controller is mainly composed of speed and current controller, which are carried out by the high-speed digital signal processor(DSP). In addition the PWM inverter is controlled by space voltage PWM method. This system is implemented using by 32-bit DSP(TMS320C31), a high-integrated logic device(EPM7128), and IPM(Intelligent Power Module) for compact and powerful system design. The experimental results show the effective performance of controller for the brushless linear motor.

  • This paper presents a new intelligent digital redesign (IDR) method via the compensated bilinear transformation to design the digital controller such that the digital fuzzy system is equivalent to the analog fuzzy system in the sense of the state-matching. This paper especially consider a multirate control scheme with a predictive feature, where the digital control input is held constant N times between the sampling points. More precisely, the multirate control scheme is proposed that utilizes a numerical integration scheme to approximately predict the current state from the state measured at the sampling points, the delayed measurements. For this system, the IDR conditions incorporated with stabilizability in the format of the linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) are derived. The superiority of the proposed technique is convincingly visualized through a numerical example.

  • This paper proposes the new method based on the availability of three points measurement and convexity of photovoltaic (PV) curve characteristic at the maximum power point (MPP). In general, the MPP tracking (MPPT) function is the important part of all PV systems due to their power-voltage (P-V) characteristics related with weather conditions. Then, the analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and low pass filter (LPF) are required to measure the voltage and current for MPPT by the digital controller, which is used to implement the PV power conditioning system (PCS). The measurement and quantization error due to rounding or truncation in ADC and the delay of LPF might degrade the reliability of MPPT. To overcome this limitation, the proposed method is proposed while improving the performances in both steady-state and dynamic responses based on the detailed investigation of its properties for availability and convexity. The performances of proposed method are evaluated with the several case studies by the PSCAD/EMTDC$^{(R)}$ simulation. Then, the experimental results are given to verify its feasibility in real-time.

  • In this paper, we proposes a new load-sharing algorithm with a ATmega2560 based digital communication. Proposed algorithm is different from conventional analog method. The high speed communication digital control is performed. To apply the digital communication and real-time control for time-sharing token bus method, we implemented high efficient load-sharing and redundancy. Also this system make down the price by auto ID algorithm and system response is improved by controller's voltage and current integral value sharing. In parallel system prototype, each module have controller and performed load-sharing according to master module integral value. In this paper, we verify the validity of proposed algorithm using PSIM program and prototype.
