A Home-Stream Station for Recording and Transmitting of The Digital Broadcasting (디지털 방송의 저장 및 송출을 위한 홈 스트림 스테이션 개발)

  • Digital broadcasting areas are leading information technology and having been strengthen the competitiveness of industries. In this paper, we developed HSS(Home Stream Station) for recording and transmitting digital broadcasting on digital TV without additional devices, which is based on cable TV network at home. The HSS can record a broadcasting program selected by user while digital TV shows the other channel. User can watch the program stored on the HSS at any time and any digital TV in the home. LAN interface of the HSS was also developed for supplying high quality digital broadcasting-contents through home network using IP-STB(Set Top Box).

  • In order to activate the digital broadcasting in Korea, the analog broadcasting will have been closed down until 2012. Recently IPTV(Internet Protocol TV) thorough internet has been regarded as the fourth media following the terrestrial, satellite, and cable for the digital broad casting. And it has been the important medium for the communication and broadcasting system. However IP is not easy to replace the entire broadcasting system with the digital - type broadcasting system. For the digital broadcasting, we should replace all TV sets, install the settop-boxes to receive the various IP media, solve problems about time delaying when changing channels, and support communication and broadcasting consolidation service for such as PVR and Network CCTV. IPMG is the digital converter that is able to solve these problems. In this paper, I'll develop and analyze IPMG converter's performance which sends and receives both the analogue and digital broadcasting signals through various media gives the Network PVR service.

  • The enforcement of the digital switch been two years, but more than half of the viewers are still not enjoying the benefits of it. Therefore, the government proposed that 8VSB transmission method so that majority of the viewer is able to enjoy the benefits of a digital switch. However, the claim has been suggested that 8VSB transmission method will have negative impacts on broadcast market feedback. In this regard, this study verified the effect of 8VSB and the method of minimization on the broadcast market. This study has conducted in-depth interviews concerned experts to achieve this purpose. Results of an interview revealed that the negative impact on the market of content and platforms, network is very small. In other words, the majority of the experts argued that the policy of government about 8VSB transmission are inadequate and it is improved to broaden the choice of the broadcast consumer.

  • Recently, broadcasting companies have been faced with changes in social environment, particularly, the emergence of new media, including the internet, cable TV and DMB, and in the political environment, such as convergence in broadcasting and communications media. To cope with these changes, broadcasting companies are showing increasing interest in building new broadcasting information systems. This study presents how to develop a web-based broadcasting information system for the small and medium-sized broadcasting company. For developing the system, the study describes system configuration, business function relationship diagrams and business flow diagrams, entity relationship diagrams, major programs, and graphic user interfaces. The newly developed web-based broadcasting information system is expected to increase business productivity to a significant extent through faster decision-making and business execution in and out of the company.

Development of Automatic Shutdown and Recovery Device for Standby Power using Doppler Sensor (도플러 센서를 적용한 대기전력 자동 차단복구 장치)

  • In this paper, we have developed a device to reduce the standby power consumption that is unnecessarily consumed in unused electrical appliances. The Doppler sensor is used to automatically power off and power off the outlet depending on whether or not a person is present near the outlet. The Doppler sensor uses a coaxial cable trap to design a transmitting antenna and emits a 10 GHz band RF signal and receives a reflected wave signal whose wavelength is reflected from the target object to the receiver to detect an object and recognize human approach. It automatically cuts off and restores standby power to prevent unnecessary power consumption, saving energy and developing a standby power automatic shutdown and recovery device that can prevent the risk of large fires caused by leakage current.

  • Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) through broadband cable network is a subscriber-based system which consists of software and set-top box. However, a weakness for the current IPTV system is the lack of security between users and CAS. This paper proposes a user authentication protocol at STB, which limits the service by the user-valued attribute to prevent illegal IPTV users. User attribute values change the order with bit form according to the certain rule, and apply to one-way hash function and Diffie-Hellman's elliptic curve key-exchange algorithm. The proposed protocol is able to improve on user authentication and computation. Also, each user generates an authentication message by smart card and receives various services based on the user-valued attribute.

  • As an astonishing progress of FTTH infrastructure, the new technologies have been widely studied to use the tantalizing benefits of high bandwidth in fiber optic cable. In this paper, a new VONU is presented to perform all necessary optical functions. It can converts digital and analog CATV signals and satellite-based signal transmitted via one fiber optic cable to electrical signals (electric lights). However, most previous VONU systems have the problems such as interference between difference services, signal distortion, and noise increasing rate. These problems cause the quality deterioration in broadcasting. Therefore, we suggest the new VONU system to solve all problems listed above. In addition, we show that how our system performs well by measuring the real data with implemented system.

  • Era of multi-channel digital multimedia on the Internet, cable, satellite and IPTV and the growth of new media such as terrestrial broadcast advertising with the poor rating has also dropped sharply. In this situation, terrestrial TV suggesting the introduction of in-program advertising appearing comments. In this study, the introduction of these intermediate advertising the public and professional awareness about the issue by comparing the introduction of in-program advertising feasibility was done in the purpose. Studies on terrestrial TV suggesting the introduction of in-program advertising and public opinion about the differences in perception between experts is high. The introduction of in-program advertising validity of these data for future in-program advertising to provide a basis for enforcement is expected to give.

  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) in the media field is a specialcustomer-centered management method based on the information technology in order to build a long-term relationship with customers, users or subscripted people of media services. The purpose of this study is to examine and compare the various strategies and the characteristics of customer relationship managements of domestic media corporations in the era of the digital convergence. The data is analyzed by in-depth interviews with the CRM managements of newspapers, cable & satellite broadcasters and telecommunication corporations. The result of the study shows that the practicing CRM in the media field has an influence on the management performance and the management's support influences the practice of CRM. CRM is practiced differently according to the scale of the media corporations and revenue. Also the study presents that media corporations which wanted to improve CRM are going through trials and errors caused by the lack of experience of the CRM market in Korea. Therefore this study would provide CRM strategy for CRM marketers in Korea. Furthermore, this study presents concepts to media corporations which do not apply to CRM yet, and theoretical backgrounds which do. Finally, the implication of the study, limitations and problems are explained and discussed.

  • A movie information program has a positive effect on the viewer's intention to watch the movie by providing an indirect experience of the movie based on trust. In order to increase the effectiveness of a movie information program, a data service that provides the additional information on the movies introduced in a movie information program has been studied. However, since the study limited the data service to one movie information program, it was difficult to apply it to the actual environment of general cable broadcasting companies or satellite broadcasting companies that transmit multiple movie information programs. Therefore, this study expanded the existing research limited to one movie information program to provide additional information of several movie information programs. This study is meaningful in that it suggests a data service that can be operated in the realistic environment of a broadcaster that actually transmits several movie information programs.
