There is increasing demand on the reducing the weight and the volume of the major components in lithium secondary battery to improve energy density. Separator not only provides pathway for lithium ion movement but also prevents direct contact between anode and cathode. Herein we fabricated polyethylene separator by varying biaxial stretching ratio to obtain membrane thickness of 16, 12, and $9{\mu}m$. Mechanical and thermal properties of the separator with different thickness were investigated. Also rate capability and charge-discharge cycle property up to 500 cycles were studied using coin type full-cell with $LiCoO_2$ and graphite as a cathode and an anode, respectively. All the cells using separator with different thickness demonstrated excellent capacity retention after 500cycles (around 80%). Considering the rate capability, cell using separator with thickness of $9{\mu}m$ showed best performance. Interestingly, separator thickness of $9{\mu}m$ was more resistant to heat contraction compared to that of $16{\mu}m$ separator.
The current article proposed to develop a geometrical model for the analysis and modelling of the uniaxial functionally graded structure using the higher-order displacement kinematics with and without the presence of porosity including the distribution. Additionally, the formulation is capable of modelling three different kinds of grading patterns i.e., Power-law, sigmoid and exponential distribution of the individual constituents through the thickness direction. Also, the model includes the distribution of porosity (even and uneven kind) through the panel thickness. The structural governing equation of the porous graded structure is obtained (Hamilton's principle) and solved mathematically by means of the isoparametric finite element technique. Initially, the linear frequency parameters are obtained for different geometrical configuration via own computer code. The comparison and the corresponding convergence studies are performed for the unidirectional FG structure for the validation purpose. Finally, the impact of different influencing parameters like aspect ratio (O), thickness ratio (S), curvature ratio (R/h), porosity index (λ), type of porosity (even or uneven), power-law exponent (n), boundary condition on the free vibration characteristics are obtained for the FG panel and discussed in details.

Integrating dielectric materials into LTCC is a convenient method to increase the integration density in electronic circuits. To enable co-firing of the high-k and low-k dielectric LTCC materials in a multi-material hetero-laminate, the shrinkage characteristics of both materials should be similar. Moreover, thermal expansion mismatch between materials during co-firing should be minimized. The alternating stacking of an LTCC with silica filler and that with calcium-zirconate filler was observed to examine the use of the same glass in different LTCCs to minimize the difference in shrinkage and thermal expansion coefficient. For the LTCC of silica filler with a low dielectric constant and that of calcium zirconate filler with a high dielectric constant, the amount of shrinkage was examined through a thermomechanical analysis, and the predicted appropriate fraction of each filler was applied to green sheets by tape casting. The green sheets of different fillers were alternatingly laminated to the thickness of 500 ㎛. As a result of examining the junction, it was observed through SEM that a complete bonding was achieved by constrained sintering in the structure of 'calcium zirconate 50 vol%-silica 30 vol%-calcium zirconate 50 vol%'.

Four screen mesh counts of 100, 150, 200, and 305 threads per inch are chosen and a designed test figure is exposed on them for printing experiment to measure the ink deposit thickness. Among a number of variables, the ink viscosity, the screen gap and the squeegee pressure and speed are estimated with their effected thickness. These variables affect as much as around 50% compared with the theoretical ink volume listed by the mesh manufacturer and each variable has different influence on the thickness. The data and graphs have been analyzed for the thick film production.
PURPOSE. The aim of this work is to evaluate different types of materials used for making implant abutments, by means of an in vitro study and a review of the literature, in order to identify the indications for a better choice of an implant-supported restoration in the anterior section. MATERIALS AND METHODS. 5 implant abutments were tested in a random order in the superior anterior maxilla of pig gingiva (n = 8): titanium dioxide (Nobel Biocare); zirconium dioxide, Standard BO shade (Nobel Biocare, Kloten, Switzerland); zirconium dioxide, Light BI shade (Nobel Biocare); zirconium dioxide, Intense A 3.5 shade (Nobel Biocare); and aluminium oxide. Each abutment was tested for 2 mm and 3 mm thickness. To determine color variation, VITA Easyshade Advance spectrophotometer (Vita Zahnfabrik, Bad Sackingen, Germany) was used. RESULTS. Results showed that the color variation induced by the abutment would be affected by the abutment material and gingival thickness, when the gingival thickness is 2 mm. All materials except zirconium dioxide (Standard shade) caused a visible change of color. Then, as the thickness of the gingiva increased to 3 mm, the color variation was attenuated in a significant manner and became invisible for all types of abutments, except those made of aluminium oxide. CONCLUSION. Zirconium dioxide is the material causing the lowest color variation at 2 mm and at 3 mm, whereas aluminium oxide causes the highest color variation no matter the thickness.
The anti-plane shear problem of bonded elastic materials containing a crack at an arbitrary angle to the graded interfacial zone is investigated in this paper The interfacial zone is modeled as a nonhomogeneous interlayer of finite thickness with the continuously varying shear modulus between the two dissimilar, homogeneous half-planes. Formulation of the crack problem is based upon the use of the Fourier integral transform method and the coordinate transformations of basic field variables. The resulting Cauchy-type singular integral equation is solved numerically to provide the values of mode 111 stress intensity factors. A comprehensive parametric study is then presented of the influence of crack obliquity on the stress intensity factors for different crack size and locations and for different material combinations, in conjunction with the material nonhomogeneity within the graded interfacial zone.
AA1050/AA6061/AA1050 layered sheet was fabricated by cold roll-bonding process and subsequently T4 and T6 aging-treated. Two commercial AA1050 sheets of 1 mm thickness and one AA6061 sheet of 2 mm thickness were stacked up so that an AA6061 sheet was located between two AA1050 sheets. After surface treatments such as degreasing and wire brushing, they were then roll-bonded to a thickness of 2 mm by cold rolling. The roll-bonded Al sheets were then processed by natural aging (T4) and artificial aging (T6) treatments. The as roll-bonded Al sheets showed a typical deformation structure, where the grains are elongated in the rolling direction. However, after the T4 and T6 aging treatments, the Al sheets had a recrystallized structure consisting of coarse grains in both the AA5052 and AA6061 regions with different grain sizes in each. In addition, the sheets showed an inhomogeneous hardness distribution in the thickness direction, with higher hardness in AA6061 than in AA1050 after the T4 and T6 age treatments. The tensile strength of the T6-treated specimen was higher than that of the T4-treated one. However, the strength-ductility balance was much better in the T4-treated specimen than the T6-treated one. The tensile properties of the Al sheets fabricated in the present study were compared with those in a previous study.
Objectives: The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effects of the thickness and shade of 3 types of computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) materials. Materials and Methods: A total of 120 specimens of 2 shades (A1 and A3) and 2 thicknesses (1 and 2 mm) were fabricated using VITA Mark II (VM; VITA Zahnfabrik), IPS e.max CAD (IE; IvoclarVivadent), and VITA Suprinity (VS; VITA Zahnfabrik) (n = 10 per subgroup). The amount of light transmission through the ceramic specimens was measured by a radiometer (Optilux, Kerr). Light-cured resin cement samples (Choice 2, Bisco) were fabricated in a Teflon mold and activated through the various ceramics with different shades and thicknesses using an LED unit (Bluephase, IvoclarVivadent). In the control group, the resin cement sample was directly light-cured without any ceramic. Vickers microhardness indentations were made on the resin surfaces (KoopaPazhoohesh) after 24 hours of dark storage in a $37^{\circ}C$ incubator. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance followed by the Tukey post hoc test (${\alpha}=0.05$). Results: Ceramic thickness and shade had significant effects on light transmission and the microhardness of all specimens (p < 0.05). The mean values of light transmittance and microhardness of the resin cement in the VM group were significantly higher than those observed in the IE and VS groups. The lowest microhardness was observed in the VS group, due to the lowest level of light transmission (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Greater thickness and darker shades of the 3 types of CAD/CAM ceramics significantly decreased the microhardness of the underlying resin cement.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare color parameters of different fabrication method of Lava ceram powder, Lava DVS blocks, IPS e.max ceram and IPS e.max zirpress. Methods: The three available shades(A1, A2, A3.5) of Lava & Kavo zirconia blocks were examined. For each of three colors, three different thickness were tested, 5 times of measurement frequency. The measurements were made using a spectrophotometer equipped with an integrating sphere using the CIE $L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$ colorimetric system. Results: Lava build-up group and Lava DVS group showed clinically perceived color difference, on the other hand IPS e.max build-up group and IPS e.max zirpress group did not show clinically perceived color difference to shade allowed on core. When the thickness of porcelain veneer increased from Lava and IPS e.max groups, color differences(${\Delta}E$) were decreased. Conclusion: All-ceramic system has color characteristics that clinicians have to consider when selecting materials. Also, manufacturers of different porcelain systems must make every effort to achieve color reproducibility.

Virtual metrology, which is one of APC techniques, is a method to predict characteristics of manufactured films using machine learning with saving time and resources. As the photoresist is no longer a mask material for use in high aspect ratios as the CD is reduced, hard mask is introduced to solve such problems. Among many types of hard mask materials, amorphous carbon layer(ACL) is widely investigated due to its advantages of high etch selectivity than conventional photoresist, high optical transmittance, easy deposition process, and removability by oxygen plasma. In this study, VM using different machine learning algorithms is applied to predict the thickness of ACL and trained models are evaluated which model shows best prediction performance. ACL specimens are deposited by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition(PECVD) with four different process parameters(Pressure, RF power, $C_3H_6$ gas flow, $N_2$ gas flow). Gradient boosting regression(GBR) algorithm, random forest regression(RFR) algorithm, and neural network(NN) are selected for modeling. The model using gradient boosting algorithm shows most proper performance with higher R-squared value. A model for predicting the thickness of the ACL film within the abovementioned conditions has been successfully constructed.
