New Cyclic Relative Difference Sets Constructed from d-Homogeneous Functions with Difference-balanced Property (차균형성질을 갖는 d-동차함수로부터 생성된 새로운 순회상대차집합)

  • In this paper, for many prime power q, it is shown that new cyclic relative difference sets with parameters (equation omitted) can be constructed by using d-homogeneous functions on $F_{q^{n}}${0} over $F_{q}$ with difference-balanced property, where $F_{q^{n} }$ is a finite field with $q^{n}$ elements. Several new cyclic relative difference sets with parameters (equation omitted) are constructed by using p-ary sequences of period $q^{n}$ -1 with ideal autocorrelation property introduced by Helleseth and Gong and d-form sequences.

  • The notion of difference for two convex compact sets in Rⁿ, proposed by Rubinov et al, is generalized to R/sub mxn/. A formula of the difference for the two sets, which are convex hulls of a finite number of points, is developed. In the light of this difference, the relation between Clarke generalized Jacobian and quasidifferential, in the sense of Demyanov and Rubinov, for a nonsnooth function, is established. Based on the relation, the method of estimating Clarke generalized Jacobian via quasidifferential for a certain class of function, is presented.

  • In the paper, the p-ranks and characteristics polynomials of cyclic difference sets are derived by expanding the trace expression of their characteristic sequences. By using this method, it is shown that the 3-ranks and characteristic polynomials of Helleseth-Kumar-Martinsen (HKM) difference set and Lin difference set can be easily obtained.

  • In this paper, a relationship between difference triangular sets and sum triangular sets is developed to evaluate the weighted number of the third-order intermodulation products. In addition, a lower bound of the intermodulation products falling into the worst signal channel has been derived using the relationship between difference triangular sets and sum triangular sets. The formulas of the lower bound are useful for estimating the intermodulation impairment level in satellite communication systems.

Comparison of Number of Repetitions and Repetition Rate in 5 Sets of 65%1RM Bench Press and Biceps Curl Exercise

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the changes in the number of repetitions and the repetition rate according to the exercise mode when performing 65%1RM resistance exercise at the 1-minute rest interval and the 3-minute rest interval. Sixteen healthy male subjects were treated with Bench press and Biceps curl of 65%1RM intensity at 1 and 3 minute rest intervals. The number of repetitions for each set of 1 minute rest interval showed a significant decrease from 1set to 5set in bench press. biceps curl showed a significant decrease from 1set to 4set. The repetition rate according to the exercise mode with a 1-minute rest interval showed a significant difference from 2sets to 4sets. In the repetition rate for each set, bench press showed a significant decrease from 1set to 5set. biceps curl showed a significant decrease from set 1 to set 4. The number of repetitions according to the exercise mode with a 3-minute rest interval showed a significant difference from 2sets to 5sets. In the number of repetitions for each set, bench press showed a significant decrease from 1set to 5set. biceps curl showed a significant decrease from 1set to 4set. The repetition rate according to the exercise mode with a 3-minute rest interval showed a significant difference from 2sets to 5sets. In summary, the decrease in the number of repetitions according to the set progression in the resistance exercise of the endurance depends on the exercise mode, and the increase of the rest interval or the decrease of the weight-intensity should be considered when aiming for more exercise.

  • In this paper, for any prime q, new cyclic difference sets with Singer parameter equation omitted are constructed by using the q-ary sequences (d-homogeneous functions) of period $q_n$-1. When q is a power of 3, new cyclic difference sets with Singer parameter equation omitted are constructed from the ternary sequences of period $q_n$-1 with ideal autocorrealtion found by Helleseth, Kumar and Martinsen.

Statistical evaluation of drift demands of rc frames using code-compatible real ground motion record sets

  • Modern performance-based design methods require ways to determine the factual behavior of structures subjected to earthquakes. Drift ratio demands are important measures of structural and/or nonstructural damage of the structures in performance-based design. In this study, global drift ratio and interstory drift ratio demands, obtained by nonlinear time history analysis of three generic RC frames using code-compatible ground motion record sets, are statistically evaluated. Several ground motion record sets compatible with elastic design spectra defined for the local soil classes in Turkish Earthquake Code are used for the analyses. Variation of the drift ratio demands obtained from ground motion records in the sets and difference between the mean of drift ratio demands calculated for ground motion sets are evaluated. The results of the study indicate that i) variation of maximum drift ratio demands in the sets were high; ii) different drift ratio demands are calculated using different ground motion record sets although they are compatible with the same design spectra; iii) the effect of variability due to random causes on the total variability of drift ratio demands is much larger than the effect of variability due to differences between the mean of ground motion record sets; iv) global and interstory drift ratio demands obtained for different ground motion record sets can be accepted as simply random samples of the same population at %95 confidence level. The results are valid for all the generic frames and local soil classes considered in this study.

  • This study proposes a quantification algorithm for a PLS method with several sets of variables. We called the quantification method for PLS with more than 2 sets of data a generalization. The basis of the quantification for PLS method is singular value decomposition. To derive the form of singular value decomposition in the data with more than 2 sets more easily, we used the constraint, $a^ta+b^tb+c^tc=3$ not $a^ta=1$, $b^tb=1$, and $c^tc=1$, for instance, in the case of 3 data sets. However, to prove that there is no difference, we showed it by the use of 2 data sets case because it is very complicate to prove with 3 data sets. The keys of the study are how to form the singular value decomposition and how to get the coordinates for the plots of variables and observations.

  • The complete multipartite graph $K_{n(m)}$ with n $ {\geq}$ 4 partite sets of size m is shown to have a decomposition into 4-cycles in such a way that vertices of each cycle belong to distinct partite sets of $K_{n(m)}$, if 4 divides the number of edges. Such cycles are called gregarious, and were introduced by Billington and Hoffman ([2]) and redefined in [3]. We independently came up with the result of [3] by using a difference set method, and improved the result so that the composition is circulant, in the sense that it is invariant under the cyclic permutation of partite sets. The composition is then used to construct gregarious 4-cycle decompositions when one partite set of the graph has different cardinality than that of others. Some results on joins of decomposable complete multipartite graphs are also presented.

Effects of Resting Periods Between Exercise Sets During Isokinetic Exercise on Muscle Performances and Physiological Variables in Middle-aged Women (중년여성에서 등속성 운동 시 세트간의 휴식시간이 등속성 근기능 및 생리적 변인에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of resting periods between exercise sets during isokinetic contraction on recovery from muscle fatigue, strength, heart rate, blood pressure, and lactate level. Sixteen women performed 10 repetitions of isokinetic exercise for three sets in three different conditions. During the sets, they rested 50, 100, and 150 seconds in each condition. And the results were: 1) In this population, the peak torque of extensor during the isokinetic exercise in 100 second resting condition was significantly higher than that in 50 and 150 second resting conditions (p<.01). The total work of extensor was significant in the second and third sets in 50 and 100 second resting conditions (p<.01). 2) During the isokinetic exercise, the heart rate was progressively increased as the sets were advanced in all resting conditions (p<.01). And the increase was significant during the second and third sets than the first in 50 second resting condition (p<.01), while it was significantly greater after the third set than the first in 100 and 150 second resting conditions (p<.01). 4) No difference was found between the resting periods in blood lactate level and blood pressure during the isokinetic exercise. However, differences were found between the sets in these variables (p<.01).
