  • This paper introduces a scheme for optimizing the material properties of mass-spring systems of different resolutions to provide coherent behavior for reduced level-of-detail in MSS(Mass-Spring System) meshes. The global optimal material coefficients are derived to match the behavior of provided reference mesh. The proposed method also gives us insight into levels of reduction that we can achieve in the systematic behavioral coherency among the different resolution of MSS meshes. We obtain visually acceptable coherent behaviors for cloth models based on our proposed error metric and identify that this method can significantly reduce the resolution levels of simulated objects. In addition, we have confirmed coherent behaviors with different resolutions through various experimental validation tests. We analyzed spring force estimations through triangular Barycentric coordinates based from the reference MSS that uses a Gaussian kernel based distribution. Experimental results show that the displacement difference ratio of the node positions is less than 10% even if the number of nodes of $MSS^{sim}$ decreases by more than 50% compared with $MSS^{ref}$. Therefore, we believe that it can be applied to various fields that are requiring the real-time simulation technology such as VR, AR, surgical simulation, mobile game, and numerous other application domains.

  • Finite element analysis is one of the important methods to study the structural performance. Due to the simplification, discretization and error of structural parameters, numerical model errors always exist. Besides, structural characteristics may also change because of material aging, structural damage, etc., making the initial finite element model cannot simulate the operational response of the structure accurately. Based on Bayesian methods, the initial model can be updated to obtain a more accurate numerical model. This paper presents the work on the field test, modal identification and model updating of a Chinese reinforced concrete pagoda. Based on the ambient vibration test, the acceleration response of the structure under operational environment was collected. The first six translational modes of the structure were identified by the enhanced frequency domain decomposition method. The initial finite element model of the pagoda was established, and the elastic modulus of columns, beams and slabs were selected as model parameters to be updated. Assuming the error between the measured mode and the calculated one follows a Gaussian distribution, the posterior probability density function (PDF) of the parameter to be updated is obtained and the uncertainty is quantitatively evaluated based on the Bayesian statistical theory and the Metropolis-Hastings algorithm, and then the optimal values of model parameters can be obtained. The results show that the difference between the calculated frequency of the finite element model and the measured one is reduced, and the modal correlation of the mode shape is improved. The updated numerical model can be used to evaluate the safety of the structure as a benchmark model for structural health monitoring (SHM).

  • Based on the requirements and characteristics of multi-zone autonomous decision-making in modern power system, fully distributed computing methods are needed to optimize the economic dispatch (ED) problem coordination of multi-regional power system on the basis of constructing decomposition and interaction mechanism. In this paper, four fully distributed methods based on alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) are used for solving the ED problem in distributed manner. By duplicating variables, the 2-block classical ADMM can be directly used to solve ED problem fully distributed. The second method is employing ADMM to solve the dual problem of ED in fully distributed manner. N-block methods based on ADMM including Alternating Direction Method with Gaussian back substitution (ADM_G) and Exchange ADMM (E_ADMM) are employed also. These two methods all can solve ED problem in distributed manner. However, the former one cannot be carried out in parallel. In this paper, four fully distributed methods solve the ED problem in distributed collaborative manner. And we also discussed the difference of four algorithms from the aspects of algorithm convergence, calculation speed and parameter change. Some simulation results are reported to test the performance of these distributed algorithms in serial and parallel.

  • In this paper, we proposed a method for extracting facial characteristics of human being in an image. Given a pair of gray level sample images taken with and without human being, the face of human being is segmented from the image. Noise in the input images is removed with the help of Gaussian filters. Edge maps are found of the two input images. The binary edge differential image is obtained from the difference of the two input edge maps. A mask for face detection is made from the process of erosion followed by dilation on the resulting binary edge differential image. This mask is used to extract the human being from the two input image sequences. Features of face are extracted from the segmented image. An effective recognition system using the discrete wave let transform (DWT) is used for recognition. For extracting the facial features, such as eyebrows, eyes, nose and mouth, edge detector is applied on the segmented face image. The area of eye and the center of face are found from horizontal and vertical components of the edge map of the segmented image. other facial features are obtained from edge information of the image. The characteristic vectors are extrated from DWT of the segmented face image. These characteristic vectors are normalized between +1 and -1, and are used as input vectors for the neural network. Simulation results show recognition rate of 100% on the learned system, and about 92% on the test images.

  • In the direct sequence code division multiple access system, the problem of multiple access interference due to multiple access is generated. A interference cancelling receiver is used to solve this problem. The conventional interference cancelling receiver is structure of successive interference canceller using antenna array. In this structure, the difference of between method I and method II depends on updating weight vector. In this paper, the adaptive blind CMA array interference cancelling receiver using cost function of constant modulus algorithms is proposed to update weight vector at conventional structure. The simulation compared the proposed interference cancelling receiver with two conventional interference cancelling receivers by signal to interference ratio and bit error rate curve under additive white Gaussian noise environment. The simulation results show that the proposed receiver has about the gain of SIR of 1.5[dB] more than method I which is conventional receiver at SIR curve, and about the gain of SIR of 0.5(dB) more than method II. In BER curve, the proposed IC receiver about the gain of SNR of 2[dB] more than method I and about the gain of SNR of 0.5[dB] more than method If, Thus, the proposed interference cancelling receiver has the higher performance than conventional interference cancelling receivers.

  • The numerical alaysis of optical device, silicabased device, are presented. The purpose of this paper is to simulate and to design a 8-channel optical wavelength division multiplexer(OWDM) based on Mach-Zehnder Interferometer(MZI) with wavelength spacing between channels Δλ=0.8 nm at central wavelength λ=1.55 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. In initial condition fur simulating, we assumed as follows. A channel waveguide is made from silica based P-doped SiO2 core layers in order to coupling with a fiber easily and its core dimension was 6 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$$\times$6 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. The core and clad index of channel waveguide were 1.455 and 1.444, separately, at λ=1.55 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. Where, the separation between channel waveguides in coupling region was 3 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. As a result of analysis, a group mode index of channel waveguide was 1.4498370, was gained by Hermite-Gaussian Method(HGM). Also, the channel spacing was determined by the waveguide arm length difference and was Δλ=0.8 nm as like a proposed condition. The central wavelength of a designed-multiplexer was activated about wavelength λ=1.55 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, and we certificated that it can be used to 8-channel optical wavelength division multiplexer/demultiplexer.

  • The main objective of this research work is to investigate the free vibration behavior of annular sandwich plates resting on the Kerr foundation at thermal conditions. This sandwich configuration is composed of two FGM face sheets as coating layer and a porous GPLRC (GPL reinforced composite) core. It is supposed that the GPL nanofillers and the porosity coefficient vary continuously along the core thickness direction. To model closed-cell FG porous material reinforced with GPLs, Halpin-Tsai micromechanical modeling in conjunction with Gaussian-Random field scheme is used, while the Poisson's ratio and density are computed by the rule of mixtures. Besides, the material properties of two FGM face sheets change continuously through the thickness according to the power-law distribution. To capture fundamental frequencies of the annular sandwich plate resting on the Kerr foundation in a thermal environment, the analysis procedure is with the aid of Reddy's shear-deformation plate theory based high-order shear deformation plate theory (HSDT) to derive and solve the equations of motion and boundary conditions. The governing equations together with related boundary conditions are discretized using the generalized differential quadrature (GDQ) method in the spatial domain. Numerical results are compared with those published in the literature to examine the accuracy and validity of the present approach. A parametric solution for temperature variation across the thickness of the sandwich plate is employed taking into account the thermal conductivity, the inhomogeneity parameter, and the sandwich schemes. The numerical results indicate the influence of volume fraction index, GPLs volume fraction, porosity coefficient, three independent coefficients of Kerr elastic foundation, and temperature difference on the free vibration behavior of annular sandwich plate. This study provides essential information to engineers seeking innovative ways to promote composite structures in a practical way.

  • SgrA* located in the center of the Milky Way is of great interest to understand the physics of supermassive black hole(SMBH) and the interaction of the G2 cloud around SgrA* with the accretion flow which was expected since 2013. In order to seize this rare opportunity, KVN and VERA Array (so called, KaVA) has started an intensive monitoring program of SgrA* at 22/43 GHz where scatter broadening is reduced compared to lower frequency VLBI observations. We present the results of KaVA SgrA* observation together with Takahagi (32m) and Yamaguchi (32m) telescopes at 22 GHz on March 24, 2013. We have tested both a standard amplitude calibration methods using the Tsys and antenna gain information and a template amplitude calibration method which uses a peak of H2O maser line of nearby maser source (SgrB2), and found that the latter method is useful when an accuracy of Tsys measurement or antenna gain of a telescope is poor. In our comparison, the difference between the two methods is around 20% (~5% for the KVN and ~15% for the VERA when the elevation is above $20^{\circ}$). We also imaged SgrA* with a total flux of ~0.7 Jy at 22GHz, and fitted an elliptical Gaussian model which has a size of ~2.5mas for major axis and ~1.7mas for minor axis, respectively.

  • A new method of X-ray source spectrum estimation based on compressed sensing is proposed in this paper. The algorithm K-SVD is applied for sparse representation. Nonnegative constraints are added by modifying the L1 reconstruction algorithm proposed by Rosset and Zhu. The estimation method is demonstrated on simulated spectra typical of mammography and CT. X-ray spectra are simulated with the Monte Carlo code Geant4. The proposed method is successfully applied to highly ill conditioned and under determined estimation problems with a good performance of suppressing noises. Results with acceptable accuracies (MSE < 5%) can be obtained with 10% Gaussian white noises added to the simulated experimental data. The biggest difference between the proposed method and the existing methods is that multiple prior knowledge of X-ray spectra can be included in one dictionary, which is meaningful for obtaining the true X-ray spectrum from the measurements.

  • In this paper, the characteristics of MODEM with the low and medium transmission rate which are recommended by the international organization such as CCITT have been studied and the features of the telephone channel have been investigated. Then three kinds of classification algorithm for the modulated signals have been suggested and their performance have been researched through the computer simulation. In case that the channel is ideal, the modulated type such as FSK, PSK and QAM could be detected correctly. Moreover, when the modulated signals are received through the telpehone channel or noisy channel, it could be seen that the performance of the correlation algorithm is superior to that of other two algorithms because of the correlation being robust to the characteristics of telephone chanel and Gasussian noise, although the performances of the two classification algorithm using the peak and phase difference, signal constellation and so on decrease rapidly as the amplitude distortion, delay distortion and Gaussian noise increase.
