대형 디젤엔진용 배기밸브의 단조공정에 관한 연구 (Investigation of the Forging Process of Exhaust Valve for Large Diesel Engine)

  • Nimonic 80A superalloy with high-temperature strength and high corrosion-resistance is used in jet engine for aircraft, gas turbine for power plant and marine diesel engine, etc. To develop the manufacturing process of exhaust valve for large diesel engine using Nimonic 80A, various mechanical tests, such as hot compression, microstructure and hardness test have been performed. This results effectively used to set the reasonable forging conditions while hot forging of Nimonic 80A superalloy. Open die and closed die forging experiments are carried out from ESR ingot and finally get a good shaped exhaust valve product.

Utilization of alternative marine fuels for gas turbine power plant onboard ships

  • Marine transportation industry is undergoing a number of problems. Some of these problems are associated with conventional marine fuel-oils. Many researchers have showed that fuel-oil is considered as the main component that causes both environmental and economic problems, especially with the continuous rising of fuel cost. This paper investigates the capability of using natural gas and hydrogen as alternative fuel instead of diesel oil for marine gas turbine, the effect of the alternative fuel on gas turbine thermodynamic performance and the employed mathematical model. The results showed that since the natural gas is categorized as hydrocarbon fuel, the thermodynamic performance of the gas turbine cycle using the natural gas was found to be close to the diesel case performance. The gas turbine thermal efficiency was found to be 1% less in the case of hydrogen compared to the original case of diesel.

  • For organizing a flexible and reasonable measuring system, it is necessary that one should not only understand the process itself but also choose an adequate system. In this paper, we want to show a system of measuring and analyzing diesel engine's performance which is capable of producing a report of a certain format as well as gathering, analyzing and managing data. The system was designed by VXIbus as an all-in-one. It was also proven by a real field test through the Guam diesel power plant, which was designed and constructed by Hanjung.

  • 본 연구에서는 Coil Spring과 Viscous Damper 시스템의 동특성 분석을 위한 특성실험을 수행하였다. Coil Spring과 Viscous Damper 시스템은 원자력발전소 비상디젤발전기의 진동저감 및 지진력 저감을 위한 장치로 선정되었다. Viscous Damper 가진 속도에 따라서 그 특성이 다르게 나타나기 때문에 그 영향을 평가하여 진동저감과 지진력 저감효과를 동시에 고려할 수 있는 장치로서의 성능을 평가하고자 하는 것이다. 실험결과 수평방향의 경우 속도의존 비선형 거동이 두드러지게 나타나고 있는 반면 연직방향은 그러한 특성이 미미한 것으로 나타났다. 강성과 감쇠 모두 설계값보다 고평가 되고 있는 것으로 나타나서 전체 시스템의 면진 및 진동저감시 영향을 미칠 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.

비상디젤발전기 신뢰도에 대한 베이즈추정 (Bayes Estimate for the Reliability of Nuclear-Power Plant Emergency Diesel Generator)

  • A commercial nuclear power station contains at least two emergency diesel generates(EDG) to control the risk of severe core demage during the station blackout accidents. Therefore the reliability of the EDG's to start and load-run on demend must be maintained at a sufficiently high level. Until now, a simple assessment of start and load-run success rates was used to calculate the EDG's reliability. However, this method has been found to contain many defects. Recently, the work of Martz et al.(1996) proposed the use of the Bayes estimator to find the EDG's reliability. In this paper, we will propose confidence interval for the Bayes estimator, compare the above two methods and, using practical examples, illustrate why the Bayes estimator method is more reasonable in our situation.

  • In this paper the recent studies of digital governor for the Diesel Engine in Korea is summarized and that of usage in the marine and land field as of power plant is analyzed for the interest and development of the enterprise with relation with relation to this industrial part. Our investigation shows that until now the studies on the digitl governor are mainly carried out in KMU and land usage for the power plants is increased gradually because reliance of digital governor is improved and system for the maneuvering and monitoring the plants is computerized.

원자력발전소 비상전력계통 강화 방안에 따른 리스크 영향 평가 (A Risk Impact Assessment According to the Reliability Improvement of the Emergency Power Supply System of a Nuclear Power Plant)

  • According to the results of Probabilistic Safety Assessment(PSA) for a Nuclear Power Plant(NPP), an Emergency Power Supply(EPS) system has been considered as one of the most important safety system. Especially, the interests in the reliability of the EPS system have been increased after the severe accidents of Fukushima Daiichi. Firstly, we performed the risk assessment and the importance analysis of the EPS system based on the PSA models of the reference plant, which is the Korean standard NPP type. Considering a portable Diesel Generator(DG) system as the reliability reinforcement of the EPS system, we modified the PSA models and performed the risk impact assessment and the importance analysis. Although the reliability of the potable DG could be about 20% of the reliability of the alternative AC DG, we identified that Core Damage Frequency(CDF) was decreased by at least 4.6%. In addition, the risk impacts due to the unavailability of the EPS system on CDF were decreased.

  • In the past, the analog protection relays have been widely used for the safety-related systems in the nuclear power plants due to their stability and reliability. Meanwhile, as the high performance digital system has been developed, the digital systems have been adopted in the non-safety systems. However, since the digital systems currently used in the non-safety systems were not developed according to Q-class standard, Commercial Grade Item Dedication (CGID) procedure should be performed in order to apply them to the safety-related system. The purpose of this paper is to describe the CGID procedure including the analysis of the hardware architecture as well as the software embedded in protective relay to apply to the emergency diesel generator in the nuclear power plant. The entire CGID procedure was performed strictly according to the international standard and regulations.

  • This paper presents a Combined solar-wave Power Generation (CPG) concept that the CPG unit is maintained as buoyant at the level of sea water and it is also supported by a submerged tunnel, with the aim of supplying emergency electric power during the station blackout events of nuclear power plants. The CPG concept has been motivated from the 2011 Fukushima-Daiichi Accidents due to the loss of both offsite AC power and emergency diesel power caused by natural hazards such as earthquake and tsunami. The CPG is conceptualized by applying different types and different sites for emergency power generation, in order to reduce common cause failures of emergency power suppliers due to natural hazards. Thus, the CPG can provide a new mean for supplying emergency electric power during station blackout events of nuclear power plants. For this application, the CPG requirements are described with a typical configuration at the ocean side of a submerged tunnel.
