  • A method for calculating the electromagnetic scattering from arid internal field distribution of arbitrally, shaped, inhomogeneous dielectric bodies is presented. Tetrahedral volume elements are used to model a scattering body in which the electrical parameters are defined constant in each tetrahedron. Special basis functions are defined within the tetrahedral volume elements to satisfy the boundary condition at interfaces between different dielectric media. In order to test the accuracy of the solution by using the present method, it is applied to obtain the scattered field by the dielectric sphere. The accuracy of the fields calculated by using the tetrahedral cell method is found to be comparable to that of others.

  • We have applied spectroscopic ellipsometry to investigate $high-{\kappa}$ dielectric thin films and correlate their optical properties with fabrication processes, in particular, with high temperature annealing. The use of high-k dielectrics such as $HfO_{2}$, $Ta_{2}O_{5}$, $TiO_{2}$, and $ZrO_{2}$ as the replacement for $SiO_{2}$ as the gate dielectric in CMOS devices has received much attention recently due to its high dielectric constant. From the characteristics found in the pseudo-dielectric functions or the Tauc-Lorentz dispersions, the optical properties such as optical band gap, polycrystallization, and optical density will be discussed.

  • In order to manufacture ceramic capacitors for the industrial electronic parts application using Tape casting method, the dielectric properties as a functions of sintering temperatures and the fabrication conditions of green sheet were investigated to consider the possibility of applications. When the mixing ratio of powder and solvent in slurry was 65:35, the uniform and dense green sheets was obtained. The dielectric constant was increased as the sintering temperature Over 94% of relative density and high were obtained to the specimens sintered at $1000^{\circ}C$. We can find that the device sintered at higher temperature than $1000^{\circ}C$ showed the relative density over 94% and the dielectric constant over 2000.

  • Dielectric cover effect of rectangular microstrip patch antenna on uniaxial substrates with airgap are studied. First, we derive Dyadic Green function for selected anisotropic material by constitutive relation and then formulate integral equations of electric fields using Fourier transform in space region. Using Galerkin's moment method, we discretize the electric field integral equations into the matrix form and select sinusoidal functions as basis functions. We verify the validity of numerical results and compare the results with existing ones in showing a good agreement between them. When the dielectric cover thickness is varied, the resonant frequencies and input impedances in the variation of air gap, patch length and thickness and permittivity of superstrate are presented and analyzed.

  • In this paper, the dielectric relaxation and reliability of high capacitance density metal-insulator-metal (MIM) capacitors using $Al_2O_3-HfO_2-Al_2O_3$ and $SiO_2-HfO_2-SiO_2$ sandwiched structure under constant voltage stress (CVS) are characterized. These results indicate that although the multilayer MIM capacitor provides high capacitance density and low dissipation factor at room temperature, it induces greater dielectric relaxation level (in ppm). It is also shown that dielectric relaxation increases and leakage current decreases as functions of stress time under CVS, because of the charge trapping effect in the high-k dielectric.

  • This work deals with the electrical conductivity of dielectric on output parameters such as metal removal rate and surface roughness value of a carbon steel(SM25C) and sintered carbides cut by wire-electrical discharge machining(W-EDM). Dielectric has several functions like insulation, ionization, cooling, the removal of waste metal particles. The presence of minute particles(gap debris) in spark gap contaminates and lowers the breakdown strength of dielectric. And it is considered that too much debris in spark gap is generally believed to be the cause of arcing. Experimental results show that increases of cobalt amount in carbides affects the metal removal rate and worsens the surface quality as a greater quantity of solidified metal deposits on the eroded surface. Lower electrical conductivity of the dielectric results in a lower metal removal rate because the gap between wire electrode and workpiece reduced. Especially, the surface characteristics of rough-cut workpiece and wire electrode were analyzed too. Debris were analyzed also through scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and surface roughness tester. Micro cracks and some of electrode material are found on the workpiece surface by energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS).

  • In this paper, we analysis the electromagnetic scattering of an arbitrary shape dielectric cube subjected to plane wave incidence in three dimensions. MoM(Method of Moments)in which a surface of a body is divided with small triangular patches and equivalence principle are used to fuse the PMCHW(Poggio, Miller, Chang, Harrington, and Wu) Integral Equations with respect to equivalent currents on a dielectric body. Triangular patch and loop-patch basis functions that is robust in wide frequency ranges are used for MoM formulations. Proposed method is very useful to analysis the induced current of arbitrary dielectric bodies and numerical results for a dielectric cube are presented.

  • In this paper, we present a set of numerical schemes to solve the Muller integral equation for the analysis of electromagnetic scattering from arbitrarily shaped three-dimensional dielectric bodies by applying the method of moments(Mon. The piecewise homogeneous dielectric structure is approximated by planar triangular patches. A set of the RWG(Rao, Wilton, Glisson) functions is used for expansion of the equivalent electric and magnetic current densities and a combination of the RWG function and its orthogonal component is used for testing. Numerical results for a dielectric sphere are presented and compared with solutions obtained using other formulations.
