Structure and Pyroelectrical Properties of Pb($Zn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3}$)$O_3$-Pb($Zr_{x}Ti_{1-x}$)$O_3$Compound Ceramics (Pb($Zn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3}$)$O_3$-Pb($Zr_{x}Ti_{1-x}$)$O_3$ 세라믹의 구조적, 초전 특성)

  • Ferroeleclric 0.05PZN-xPZT(90/10)-(0.95-x)PZT(10/90) (x=0.65, 0.85) specimens were fabricated by the mixed-oxide method and cold-pressing method using sol-gel derived PZT(90/10) and PZT(10/90) powders. All specimens show a uniform ferroelectric grain without the presence of the pyrocholre phase. Average grain size increased with an increase in sintering temperature, the value for the x=0.65 specimen sintered at 125$0^{\circ}C$ was 14.4$\mu$m. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the x=0.65 specimen sintered at 125$0^{\circ}C$ were 1247, 2.06%, respectively. All specimens showed fairly good temperature and frequency stability of dielectric constant with the range from -2$0^{\circ}C$ to 6$0^{\circ}C$ and 100Hz to 10MHz. The coercive field and the remanent polarization of x = 0.65 specimen sintered at 125$0^{\circ}C$ were 8.5 kV/cm and 13 $\mu$C/cm$^2$, respectively. The pyroelectric coefficient of the x=0.65 specimen sintered at 125$0^{\circ}C$ was 5.64$\times$10$^{-8}$ C/cm$^2$K, respectively.

  • To study various relaxation phenomena of $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$ relaxor ferroelectrics, weak electric-field properties as well as strong electric-field properties were investigated in the frequency range from 1 Hz to 100 kHz. The temperature dependence of the dielectric properties were measured under the low electric-field of 1 V/mm in the phase transition temperature range from $-40^{\circ}C$ to $90^{\circ}C$. The dielectric properties obtained from the slope of the dielectric hysteresis loop and the temperature dependence of the pyroelectric properties were also investigated. When fitting all the experimental data with the Vogel-Fulcher relation, experimental data were agreed with the equation closely. Thus, dielectric relaxations could be modeled by the Vogel-Fulcher relation not only for the low electric-field but also for the high electric-field.

Average grain size increased with an increased in sintering temperature, the values for the x=0.65 and x=0.85 specimens sintered at 125$0^{\circ}C$ were 14.4$\mu$m and 9.8$\mu$m, respectively. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the x=0.65 specimen sintered at 125$0^{\circ}C$ were 1247. 2.06%, respectively. The coercive field and the remanent polarization of x=0.65 and x=0.85 specimens sintered at 125$0^{\circ}C$ were 8.5kV/cm, 13$\mu$C/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and 17.2kV/cm, 28 $\mu$C/$\textrm{cm}^2$, respectively. The pyroelectric coefficient of the x=0.65 and x=0.85 specimens sintered at 125$0^{\circ}C$ were 5.64$\times$10$^{-8}$ C/$\textrm{cm}^2$K and 2.76$\times$10$^{-8}$ C/$\textrm{cm}^2$K, respectively.

  • La-modified $PbTiO_{3}$(PLT) thin plates were prepared for the fabrication of PLT pyroelectric IR sensors. The effects of the preparation parameters such as tile sintering temperature, the La content, and the ambient powder quantity, on the microstructural and dielectric properties of PLT thin plates were investigated by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, and measurements of relative density and dielectric properties. With an increased La content, the tetragonality c/a was decreased but the densification and the grain size were increased, which is considered to be due to the increased Pb vacancy concentration to maintain charge neutrality at the increased of La content. When the quantity of the ambient powder wvas increased, the tetragonality was slightly increased, which is believed io be due to the reduced evaporation of PbO. But the e(fect is insignificant compared to that of La content. The dielectric constant at room temperature was increased and the Curie temperature was decreased in accordance with the decreased tetragonality ratio c/a with the increase of La content. The dielectric constant and tan ${\delta}$ of $500{\mu}m$ thick PLT thin plate with 10 wt% excess PbO and 10 mol% La contant sintered at $1250^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours in ambient powder of $0.02\;g/cm^{3}$ were 360 and 0.02, respectively.

  • The PbTiO3 is well known materials having remarkable ferroelectric, piezoelectric, and pyroelectric properties. PbTiO3 thin films with a perovskite structure were successfully fabricated on titanium substrate by chemical vapor deposition. These films were characterized according to composition, crystal structure, and electrical properties. Semi-quantitative compositional analysis of the deposited films was made by Auger Electron Spectroscopy(AES). The PbTiO3 film deposited on titanium substrate at the deposition temperature 75$0^{\circ}C$, the Ti(C2H5O)4 fraction 0.15, and O2 partial pressure 0.06atm, has a columnar structure and grows with(001) preferred orientation, and has stoichiometric composition. A clear dielectric transition and offset in the dc conductivity near the transition temperature(48$0^{\circ}C$) were observed in the deposited lead titanate film.

A Study on the Pyroelectric Properties of PZT(30/70) Thick film Prepared by Using 1,3 Propanediol (1,3 Propanediol을 이용해 제작된 PZT(30/70) 후막의 초전특성에 관한 연구)

  • PZT(30/70) thick film was fabricated by using 1,3 propanediol-based sol-gel method. Prepared film of pyroelectric property was investigated by Dynamic method of modulation frequency dependence. Pyroelectric coefficient was obtained about $5.0{\times}10^{-8}\;C/cm^2{\cdot}K$. The figure of merits for voltage responsively and specific detectivity were $3.4{\times}10^{-11}\;C{\cdot}cm/J$ and $5.9{\times}10^{-9}\;C{\cdot}cm/J$, respectively, because of relative high-dielectric constant and high-pyroelectric coefficient. Voltage responsively was increased at low modulation frequency and it was decreased at high modulation frequency. Voltage responsively was maximum 1.84 V/W at 10Hz. As Johnson noise is dominant, Noise voltage was increased nearly proportional to $f^{-1/2}$. Noise equivalent power and specific detectivity were $2.83{\times}10^{-7}\;W/Hz^{1/2}$ and 3.13{\times}10^5\;cm{\cdot}Hz^{1/2}/W$ the same frequency at 80Hz, respectively.

Influence of composition variation on structural and pyroelectrical properties of BSCT thick films (조성 변화의 영향에 따른 BSCT 후막의 구조적 특성과 초전 특성)

  • (Ba,Sr,Ca)$TiO_3$ powders, which were prepared by sol-gel method using a solution of Ba-acetate, Sr-acetate and Ca-acetate and Ti iso-propoxide, were mixed with organic vehicle and the BSCT thick films were fabricated by the screen-printing techniques on high purity alumina substrates. The structural and dielectric properties were investigated for various $Dy_2O_3$ doping contents. As a result of thermal analysis, the exothermic peak was observed at around $670^{\circ}C$ due to the formation of the polycrystalline perovskite phase. All BSCT thick films, sintered at $1420^{\circ}C$ for 2h, showed the typical XRD patterns of perovskite polycrystalline structure and no pyrochlore phase was observed.   • $PbTiO_3$/P(VDF/TrFE) 0~3 composites thin films with 0.10 and 0.13 of ceramic volume fraction factor have been fabricated by two-step spin coating technique and analyzed. 0~3 connectivity of $PbTiO_3$/P(VDF/TrFE) composites film was observed successfully by SEM micrography. The SEM picture confirmed 0~3 connectivity. And, in all the properties, 0~3 $PbTiO_3$/P(VDF/TrFE) composites film was superior to P(VDF/TrFE) copolymer. Therefore, with a good low-dielectric constant and a high pyroelectric coefficient, the composite thin films can be used for a new pyroelectric infrared sensor of higher performance.

  • The fabricated La-modified lead titanate (PLT) thin film without poling treatment was investigated for modulation frequency dependence of pyroelectric properties by the dynamic method. $Pb_{l-x}La_{x}Ti_{l-x/4}O_3$(x=0.1) (PLT(10)) thin film haying 10 mol% La content was deposited on a Pt/$TiO_{x}$/$SiO_2$/Si substrate by sol-gel method. The PLT(10) thin film exhibits a relatively excellent dielectric property. The pyroelectric coefficient (p) of the PLT(10) thin film is 6.6 x $10^{-9}C$$textrm{cm}^2$$.$K without frequency dependence. The figure of merits for the voltage responsivity and specific detectivity are 1.03 x $10^{-11}C$.cm/J and 1.46 x $10^{-10}C$.cm/J, respectively The PLT(10) thin film has voltage responsivity (RV) of 5.IS V/W at 8 Hz. Noise equivalent power (NEP) and specific detectivity ($D^{*}$) of the PLT(10) thin film are 9.93 x $10^{-8}$W/$Hz^{1/2}$ and 1.81 x $10^{6}$cm.$Hz^{1/2}$/W at the same frequency of 100 Hz,, respectively The results means that PLT thin film having 10 mol% La content is suitable for the sensing materials of pyroelectric IR sensors.
