Recently, in construction equipment machinery production, development has focused on environmentally-friendly functions to improve existing production capacity. For excavators as well, emphasis has been placed on response to environmental regulations, miniaturization, and noise reduction, while technology is being developed considering cost reduction and safety.Accordingly, the front support, an inner reinforcement part of the excavator, as well as high-strength steel plates to improve safety and reduce weight, are being applied. However, in the case of high-strength materials, Springback occurs in the final formed part due to high residual stress during product forming. Derivation of a forming or product shaping process to reduce springback is needed. Accordingly, regarding the front support, an inner reinforcement part of the excavator, this study derived a method to improve springback and secure shape stiffness through analysis of the springback occurrence rate and springback causes through a forming analysis. As for the results of analyzing the springback occurrence rate of existing products through forming analysis, springback of -22.6 mm < z < 27.35 mm occurred on the z-axis, and it was confirmed that springback occurred due to the stiffness reinforcing bead of the upper and middle parts of the product. To control product residual stress and springback, we confirmed a tendency of springback reduction through local pre-cutting and stiffness reinforcement bead relocation. In the local pre-cutting model, springback was slightly reduced by 5.3% compared with the existing model, an insignificant reduction effect. In the stiffness reinforcement bead relocation model, when an X-shaped stiffness reinforcement bead was added to each corner portion of the product, springback was reduced by at least 80%.The X-shaped bead addition model was selected as the springback reduction model, and the level of stiffness compared to the existing model was confirmed through a structural analysis. The X-shaped bead additional model showed a stress springback of 90% and springback reduction of 7.4% compared with the existing model, indicating that springback and stiffness will be reinforced.
With the recent strengthening of environmental regulations and the need for cost reduction, excavators, a type of construction equipment, are being miniaturized while components are being developed in consideration of stability. In the case of excavator press parts, mainly high-strength steel sheets are being used to enhance stability and reduce weight. However, in the case of high-strength materials, there is a need to research product forming methods to reduce Springback in defects arising in parts assembly due to Springback that result from the internal residual stress that occurs in press forming being released after product forming. Accordingly, regarding the tank cover, an excavator press-forming part, this study selected a method to reduce distortion through analysis of the Springback occurrence rate and Springback causes through a forming analysis. A forming analysis was conducted for the Springback of the tank cover. Deformations of 13.714 mm in the upper part and 6.244 mm in the inner part of the product occurred, while wrinkles occurred on the sides of the product due to uneven thickness. A forming analysis was conducted for the major shapes of the product to investigate the causes of Springback. Distortion deformation due to the bead in the center of the product was confirmed to be a large factor. A Springback reduction method of correcting uneven thickness in the product sides, a Springback reduction method of removing the bead, and a correction method of restriking after the final forming were used in a forming analysis to determine the degree of Springback reduction. For the forming method to correct uneven thickness in the sides, deformation was reduced by 12% in the upper side compared to the existing model, but deformation in the inner side increased by 1%. For the restriking forming method, deformation decreased by 25% in the upper side and 13% in the inner side. For the bead removal method, deformation decreased by 28% in the upper side and 13% in the inner side, the largest Springback correction results. This indicates that the bead has a large affect on Springback.
PURPOSE. Vinyl polyether silicone (VPES) has a different composition from other elastomeric impression materials as it combines vinyl polysiloxane (VPS) and polyether (PE). Therefore, it is important to study its properties and behavior under different test conditions. This study investigated the dimensional stability of 5 VPES consistencies when stored for up to 2 weeks, with and without using a standard disinfection procedure. MATERIALS AND METHODS. 40 discs of each VPES consistency (total 200) were made using a stainless steel die and ring as described by ANSI /ADA specification No. 19. 20 discs of each material were immersed in a 2.5% buffered glutaraldehyde solution for 30 minutes. Dimensional stability measurements were calculated immediately after fabrication and repeated on the same discs after 7 and 14 days of storage. The data was analyzed using two-way ANOVA with a significance level set at ${\alpha}=0.05$. RESULTS. The discs mean contraction was below 0.5% at all test times ranging from $0.200{\pm}0.014$ to $0.325{\pm}0.007$. Repeated measures ANOVA showed a statistically significant difference after 2-week storage between the disinfected and non-disinfected groups (P < .001). Although there was no statistically significant difference between the materials at the time of fabrication, the contraction of the materials increased with storage for 1 and 2 weeks. CONCLUSION. The dimensional changes of VPES impression discs after disinfection and prolonged storage complied with ANSI/ADA standard. The tested VPES impression materials were dimensionally stable for clinical use after disinfection for 30 minutes in glutaraldehyde and storage for up to 2 weeks.
The main objective of this work was to study the efTect of pressed density of pellets prepared from an oxide powder on their fired density and to prove experimentally the parabolic relationship proposed by FORD. A-I6 and A-J7 alumina powders. which showed quite dlfrerent powder characteristics but were essentially very reactive powders, were employed, and a series of pelIets weIe pressed in a 1l.2mm diameter hardened steel die with a hydraulic press and a mechanically operated press in order to obtain a wide range of pressed demity. Density ranges from 35 to 65 % theoretical for A-16, and 46 to 66 % theoretical far A-17 were obtained and the highest pressed density achieved using lubricant was 67.8 % theoretical. CompactlOn mechanisms for A-16 and A-I 7 were deduced. Several plots of ($D_F$-$D_P$) against DpjDT showed reasonable parabola and temperature dependence and the maximum density increase occurred when the pressed density was approximately 50% theoretical. The parabolic relationship was confirmed by linear plot of ($D_F$-$D_P$) against (1-$\frac{D_P}{D_T})$).

The demand for wire-cut EDM is increasing rapidly in the die and tool making industry. In this study machining characteristics such as machining rate, surface roughness, hand drum form and hardness of machined material are investigated experimentally under the conditions varing pulse on time, pulse off time, peak voltage, wire tension after fixing other conditions in SKD 11 and brass and brass workpiece. It was found that various operating conditions had significant influences on machining characteristics. But the hardness of workpiece was uneffected by operating conditions. Also it was obtained experimentally that brass workpeice had better machinability than SKD 11 one.dition according to the current(Ip) in an electric spark machine : 1) Electrode is utilized Cu and Graphite. 2) Work piece is used the material of carbon steel. The condition of experiment is : 1) Current is varied 0.7(A) to 50(A) and the time of electric discharging to work piece in each time is 30(min) to 60(min). 2) After the upper side of work piece was measured in radius(5$\mu$m) of stylus analyzed the surface roughness to ade the table and graph of Rmax by yielding data. 3) Electro wear ratio is : \circled1Cooper was measured ex-machining and post-machining by the electronic balance. \circled2The ex-machining of graphite measured by it, the post-machining was found the data from volume $\times$specific gravity and analyzed to made its table and graph on ground the data. 4) In order to keep the accuracy of voltage affected to the work piece was equipped with the A.V. R and the memory scope was sticked to the electric spark machine. 5) In order to preserve the precision of current, to get rid of the noise occured by internal resistance of electric spark machine and to force injecting for the discharge fluid , it made the fixed table for a work piece to minimize the work error by means of one's failure during the electric discharging.

Recently, the use of tubes in the manufacturing of the automobile parts has increased and therefore many automotive manufactures have tried to use hydro-forming technology. The hydro-forming technology may cause many advantages to automotive applications in terms of better structural integrity of the parts, lower cost from fewer part count, material saving, weight reduction, lower spring-back, improved strength and durability and design flexibility. In this study, the whole process of front engine cradle (or front sub-frame) parts development by tube hydro-forming using steel material having tensile strength of 440MPa grade is presented. At the part design stage, it requires feasibility study and process design aided by CAE (Computer Aided Design) to confirm hydro-formability in details. Effects of parameters such as internal pressure, axial feeding and geometry shape on automotive sub-frame by hydro-forming process were carefully investigated. Overall possibility of hydro-formable sub-frame parts could be examined by cross sectional analyses. Moreover, it is essential to ensure the formability of tube material on every forming step such as pre-bending, preforming and hydro-forming. At the die design stage, all the components of prototyping tools are designed and interference with press is examined from the point of geometry and thinning.

Recently, aluminum ships are constructed more than ever because of the environmental pollution generated by FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) ships. In particular, FRP ships have been replaced by the Aluminum ships. The forming process of the curved aluminum plate has been performed only by labor works without systematic technique. Therefore, it is difficult to construct the aluminum ship that the design satisfies both required propulsion performance and hull design. Present study introduces a MPSF (Multi Point Stretching Forming) that is a flexible manufacturing technique to form large sheet panels of doubly curvature. The hull pieces are stretch-formed over the MPSD (multi-point stretching die) generated by the punch element matrix. In this study, MPSF is applied to deform the doubly curved surfaces of aluminum ship. The forming system including FEA (finite element analysis) of the processes for stretching the plate were carried out by static implicit analysis is suggested. Residual deformation of the surface is modeled by an elasto-plastic contact phenomena while the forming process is simulated by FEA. Finally, the proposed system is also validated, comparing the deformed shape by MPSF with that of object surfaces.

Harmonic structure materials are materials with a core-shell structure having a shell with a small grain size and a core with a relatively large grain size. They are in the spotlight because their mechanical properties reportedly feature strength similar to that of a sintered powder with a fine grain size and elongation similar to that of a sintered powder with a coarse grain size at the same time. In this study, the tensile properties, microstructure, and stretch-flangeability of harmonic structure SUS304L made using powder metallurgy are investigated to check its suitability for automotive applications. The harmonic powders are made by mechanical milling and sintered using a spark plasma sintering method at 1173 K and a pressure of 50 MPa in a cylindrical die. The sintered powders of SUS304L having harmonic structure (harmonic SUS304L) exhibit excellent tensile properties compared with sintered powders of SUS304L having homogeneous microstructure. In addition, the harmonic SUS304L has excellent stretch-flangeability compared with commercial advanced high-strength steels (AHSSs) at a similar strength grade. Thus, the harmonic SUS304L is more suitable for automotive applications than conventional AHSSs because it exhibits both excellent tensile properties and stretch-flangeability.

The forming limit diagram is assessed as a means of estimating the forming characteristics of sheet metal and is usually determined experimentally. The strain rates used in the determination are likely to be low. However, often in practice, the strain rates are much higher, so if forming limit diagram is determined at low rates, it may not be appropriate. This paper reconsiders the forming limit diagram for mild steel and aluminum sheet up to variation in strain rate from 10$^{-2}$ sec to 20/sec where its forming has been carried out under oil pressure using a hydraulic bulge test with circular and elliptical dies. To obtain higher strain rate, an impact bulge test had been employed with the same die sets as those used for a hydraulic bulge test. The results obtained are as follows: (1) As the strain rate increases, the fracture pressure increases and the polar height at fracture decreases. (2) Experiment has shown that, in the positive quadrant of the forming limit diagram, the diagram is lowered with increasing strain rate and the effect of strain rate changes according to strain paths and materials..

Seats in autonomous vehicles must be able to rotate to fully utilize the interior space. Generally, ultra-high strength steel is used for the rotation module because it should have high strength and high rigidity. In addition, the rotating parts are difficult to form because they have complex shapes. In this study, the upper plate of the rotating module, whose complex shape makes it difficult to form, was formed by applying the hot stamping method. The drawing method and the form-drawing method, which are generally used to form components of complex shapes, were compared. We showed that the form-drawing method increased the degree of freedom of the material flow to improve the formability, thus enabling the forming of the plate. In addition, the die and blank shapes were found to be important factors in determining the success of the hot stamping. The validity of the analysis results was confirmed through forming analysis and experiments.
