  • Recently, the conventional concept of a machine-tool in manufacturing systems is changing from the target of integration to the autonomous manufacturing device based on a knowledge evolution. Subsequently, a machine-tool has been the subject of a cooperation through an advanced environment where an open architecture controller, high speed network and internet technology are contained In the future, a machine-tool will be more improved in the form of a knowledge evolution based device. In order to develop the knowledge evolution based machine-tool, this paper proposes the structure of knowledge evolution and the scheme of a dialogue agent among agent-based modules such as a sensory module, a dialogue module, and an expert system. The dialogue agent has a role of interfacing with another machine for cooperation. To design of the dialogue agent module in M2M(Machine To Machine)environment, FIPA-OS and ping agent based on FIPA-OS are analyzed in this study. Through this, it is expected that the dialogue agent module can be more efficiently designed and the knowledge evolution based machine-tool can be hereafter more easily implemented.

  • For the effective operation of manufacturing system, FMS(Flexible Manufacturing System) and CIM(Computer Integrated Manufacturing) system are developed. In these systems, a machine tool is the target of integration in last 3 decades. In nowadays, the conventional concept of machine tools is changing to the autonomous manufacturing device based on knowledge-evolution through applying advanced information technology in which open architecture controller, high speed network and internet technology are contained. In this environment, a machine tool is not the target of integration but the subject of cooperation. • This paper presents a dialogue interface using the dialogue management system as a method for controlling home appliances in Home Network Services. In order to realize this type of dialogue interface, we annotated 96,000 utterance pair sized dialogue set and developed an example-based dialogue system. This paper introduces the automatic error correction module for the SMS-styled sentence. With this module we increase the accuracy of NLU(Natural Language Understanding) module. Our NLU module shows an accuracy of 86.2%, which is an improvement of 5.25% over than the baseline. The task completeness of the proposed SMS dialogue interface was 82%.

  • In this paper we present a plan-based Korean dialogue system as a natural language database user interface for product search. The system can be characterized by its support for mixed initiative to give user more control over dialogue, employment of user model to reflect user' spreferences, alternative solution suggestion if there is no product matched exactly to user's requirements, handling circumlocution which frequently occurs in dialogues. The user model ing shell system BGP-MS is adapted for the system. The system provides for a user-friendly database user interface bymanaging dialogue intelligently. By its implementation and test it has been shown that the user model-based dialogue system can be utilized effectively for product search.

  • Nowadays, Spoken Dialogue System is rapidly growing by investing a lot from researches as well as organizations. One of concrete evidences is that the appearance of commercial systems such as Siri, SVoice, DARPA, CLASSiC, GSearch etc. Moreover, Spoken Dialogue System is widely believed to be the future direction of software development. In Spoken Dialogue System, users interact to software by using their own voice instead of use their hands, keyboard, and mouse. This paper continuously presents our development of the Spoken Dialogue System on News. Particularly, we propose detailed design such as semantic concepts, semantic frames, slots, and so on for applying Hidden Vector State Model into our Spoken Dialogue System for Spoken Language Understanding.

  • In this paper, we present an example-based natural language dialogue system for Electronic Program Guide Information Access. We introduce an effective and practical dialogue management technique incorporating dialogue examples and situation-based rules. In order to generate cooperative responses to smoothly lead the dialogue with users, our natural language dialogue system consists of natural language understanding, dialogue manager, system utterance generator. and EPG database manager. Each module is designed and implemented to make an effective and practical natural language dialogue system. In particular, in order to reflect the up-to-date EPG information which is updated frequently and periodically, we applied a web-mining technology to the EPG database manager, which builds the content database based on automatically extracted information from popular EPG websites. The automatically generated content database is used by other modules in the system for building their own resources. Evaluations show that our system performs EPG access task in high performance and can be managed with low cost.

  • Two subject-matters are discussed in this article, i.e., the characteristics of philosophical dialogue in Upaniṣads and its influence on the typicalness of Hindu philosophy. First of all, it can be epitomized that the philosophical dialogue of Upaniṣads is to be described as an immediate reproduction of knowledge on 'the truth of truth' by means of revelational teaching. Besides, this dialogue serves as an origin by which the liberation-oriented Hindu philosophy is developed after ages. All the details would be set in order as follows; firstly, the philosophical dialogue in Upaniṣads is an archetype of philosophical dialogue in India. Secondly, this dialogue is a germination that gives birth to the typicalness of liberation-oriented Hindu philosophy. Thirdly, as a result, this dialogue is an original model or an archetype of that very typicalness which are to be specialized such as conservatism on tradition, making revelation being absolute, discredit on reasoning, substantial ontology, knowledge-focused soteriology, empirical reproduction of the truth, etc.

  • Purpose: Effective communication is an essential aspect of nursing care. This qualitative study was performed to analyze nurse-patient conversations about medication. Method: The nurse-patient dialogue was collected by video tape recording during the nurse's duty time in an internal medicine ward. One hundred seventy-eight episodes were extracted from the conversation. Using conversational analysis, the functional phases and patterns of dialogue sequence pertaining to medication were analyzed. Results: Conversations about medication were very brief dialogues, so 68.8% of the dialogue had a duration of less than 20 seconds. However, it was a systematic and comprehensive dialogue which had structures and sequential dialogue patterns. Four functional phases were explored. greeting, identifying the patient, medicating, finishing. The medicating phase was essential, in which the nurse gave the drug to the patient and provided information initiated by the nurse simultaneously. The patterns of the dialogue sequence represented were the nurse provided information first, and then, patients responded to the nurse as accepting, rejecting, raising an objection, or asking again later. Conclusion: As the results of this study show, a nurse's role is important as an educator. For effective conversation about medication, the development of an educational program should be considered, which includes knowledge about medication and communication skills.

  • The role of dialogue manager is to select proper actions based on observed environment and inferred user intention. This paper presents stochastic model for dialogue manager based on Markov decision process. To build a mixed initiative dialogue manager, we used accumulated user utterance, previous act of dialogue manager, and domain dependent knowledge as the input to the MDP. We also used dialogue corpus to train the automatically optimized policy of MDP with reinforcement learning algorithm. The states which have unique and intuitive actions were removed from the design of MDP by using the domain knowledge. The design of dialogue manager included the usage of natural language understanding and response generator to build short message based remote control of home networked appliances.

  • This paper presents a dialogue interface using the dialogue management system as a method for controlling home appliances in Home Network Services. In order to realize this type of dialogue interface, we first investigated the user requirements for Home Network Services by analyzing the dialogues entered by users. Based on the analysis, we were able to extract 15 user intentions and 22 semantic components. In our study, example dialogues were collected from WOZ (Wizard-of-OZ) environment to implement a reasoning model for generating meaningful responses for example-based dialogue modeling technique. An overview of the Home Network Control System using proposed dialogue interface will be presented. Lastly, we will show that the Dialogue Management System trained with our collected dialogues behaves properly to achieve its task of controlling Home Network appliances by going through the steps of natural language understanding, response reasoning, response generation.
