  • This paper aims at developing remote control system to control and monitor distributed various devices such as UPS or photovoltaic inverter system through internet. TCP/IP(Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) and photovoltaic inverter system operated in a row are adopted for network management protocol and applied device, respectively. For controlling and monitoring distributed devices in real-time, java-environment software is constructed. Also, HelloDevice, general-use interface controller between network device and applied device is proposed. Finally, serial communication such as RS-232C is used between controller and applied device.

  • This paper presents control and evaluation of a new haptic device with a 6-DOF parallel mechanism for interfacing with virtual reality. This haptic device has low inertial, high bandwidth compactness, and high output force capability mainly due to of base-fixed motors. It has also wider orientation workspace mainly due to a RRR type spherical joint. A control method is presented with gravity compensation and with force feedback by an F/T sensor to compensate for the effects of unmodeled dynamics such as friction and inertia. Also, dynamic performance has been evaluated by experiments. for force characteristics such as maximum applicable force, static-friction force, minimum controllable force, and force bandwidth Virtual wall simulation with the developed haptic device has been demonstrated.

Lifetime Seismic Risk of Offshore Structures with a Built-in Vibration Control Device (제진장치 설치 해양구조물의 생애주기 지진위험도)

  • The analysis of the seismic risk of an offshore structure with a control device is presented. First, a probability density function was developed to represent seismic hazard, and seismic fragility under artificial earthquake conditions was determined. Fragility curves for an offshore structure with both passive and active control devices were determined. Displacement criteria were set to evaluate the performance of the structure. Based on numerical analysis, the seismic risk to the structure was considerably reduced when the structure had a seismic control device. The seismic risk to the actively controlled structure was decreased by 80% compared to the uncontrolled case. Reasonable performance evaluations of offshore structure with control devices can be conducted through risk analysis.

SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) and UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) are adopted for network management protocol and applied device, respectively. For controlling and monitoring distributed devices in real-time, Java-environment software is constructed. Also, general-use interface controller between network device and applied device is proposed. Finally, serial communication such as RS-232 and RS-485 is used between controller and applied device.

  • This paper proposes a single sign-on scheme in which a mobile user offers his credential information to a home network running the OSGi (Open Service Gateway Initiative) service platform, to obtain user authentication and control a remote device through a mobile device using this authentication scheme, based on SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language). Especially by defining the single sign-on profile to overcome the handicap of the low computing and memory capability of the mobile device, we provide a clue to applying automated user authentication to control a remote device via a mobile device for distributed mobile environments such as a home network based on OSGi.

  • Fixed distance control system at the railway level crossing have some problem. The problem is especially serious for high speed or low speed train. Therefore present developed device is fixed time control system. But fixed time control system haven't indicate device when train reach at the railway level crossing on alarm. This paper' result in study for train reach spare time indicate device.

  • We have investigated the electrical characteristics of the organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) using the numerical device simulation. The current-voltage characteristics, the charge carrier concentrations, and the recombination rate profiles are presented. The simulation results of the effects of the various device parameters on the device characteristics are discussed.

  • Web-based virtual machine/manufacturing system (VMS) utilizes Virtual Device Network (VDN.) VDN inevitably involves the implementation of Distributed Monitoring and Control Networks (DMCN). In general, one needs to integrate device (control) network and IP network to realize DMCN over IP network or internet, which can be viewed as a VDN. In this study, LonWorks networking technology is used for device network and the transmission characteristics of LonWorks/IP-based VDN is investigated. A method to minimize the transmission delay in the LonWorks/IP networks is also suggested.

  • This paper presents an experimental study on the performance of the active damper device by feedback variables. The damper is a mass-typed active device, which exerts the inertia control force on the building by AC servo motor. The control performance is experimentally analyzed considering the building response and the control force. It is found that the building response is greatly reduced by mass-typed device under the resonant and earthquake loading. Also, the experimental results show that the velocity feedback reduces the building responses with the smallest amount of control force than any other feedback variables.
